THE GREATEST TRILOGY OF ALL TIME! NOW THIS IS PART 1 OF MY FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING REACTION. I Did This Reaction To Celebrate The Fellowship Of The Rings 20th Anniversary! It Shouldn't Matter If I've Seen These Movies Before Or Not. I just Wanted To Share My Love Of The Lord Of The Rings And My Love Of Movies With All Of You. Just Because I've Seen It Before Doesn't Mean Us Friends Can't Enjoy The Movie.
You can tell Mel's a true LOTR fan by these things: -The amount of love he put into his cosplay (he even included the gloves!) -He can recite the entire thing from memory -He's watching extended. Because everyone knows you NEVER watch the theatrical release
I actually think the theatrical version of each movie are the best. Like, no dish to the extended cuts but a lot of those added in scenes take away tension or are just padding that slows down the rest of the film. The only exception for me is in two towers where we get to see Family and Balmir past to explain just how badly their father was. Outside of that, I don't see any of the extended film as needed
Mello reactions are never late, nor are they early. They arrive precisely when they need to. I got to see this at the New York premiere as a charity event for 9/11 with the actors (though Mckellen and Viggo weren't able to make it) and remains to this day as one of the best experiences I've ever had in my life in a theater. These movies will always hold a special place in my heart. Glad to see this is your favorite trilogy as well. Love the music, especially the fellowship music.
I got to say whenever I watch the fellowship It feels like coming back to a old home and feeling welcome. It's why it's my favorite. Even though it has very little action; you just feel a part of something for a while.
This reaction made me very happy. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about a video of someone re-watching the movies, but your enthusiasm, engagement and most of all - knowledge about the series made it a sheer delight. You copies of the books looked pretty well-used too. I first read LOTR about 50 years ago and I've probably re-read the books about 40 times. I still prefer them to the movies, but let's be real - the movies are an AMAZING achievement. Sure, I'm not wild about the Saruman/Gandalf battle, and the way Denethor is written he comes off even more unlikable than he was in the books, but Peter J. , Fran W. and Philippa B. stuck very closely to the spirit of the books. I really look forward now to seeing the remainder of your re-watch reactions.
Aragorn is singing part of the Lay of Luthien, which tells the story of the ill-fated romance between human hero Beren and the elf-maiden Luthien in the 1st Age of Middle-Earth. They were the first human-elf romantic pairing and both Aragorn and Arwen are their direct descendent Their story is told in The Silmarillion. Beren and Luthien are inscribed on the tombstone of Tolkien and his wife.
I'm not gone lie to y'all, I stole this camera that's recording this episode... and the microphone... and the chair im sitting in... I'm stealing your phone out of your hand right now. 🤣🤣🤣
The main reason the Hobbit movies went so heavily for CGI was time constraints. Guillermo Del Toro was supposed to direct and did a lot of prep work, but couldn't start shooting because the rights to The Hobbit were tied up with multiple parties. By the time the rights were cleared, Del Toro had left because he was committed to another project. PJ then stepped in and didn't feel comfortable using Del Toro's work is he he started from scratch. However, the studio gave him a fraction of the time he got to prep LoTR. He also because seriously ill right before shooting was to start. WETA had basically no time to build everything from the ground up, so they went digital.
I feel really bad for Jackson. You can tell those films would've been just as good as LOTR, if he'd had the same three - five years he had to film LOTR. The pieces are all there, they just don't quite fit together, because everything was rushed.
Was just giving the trilogy a re-watch and couldn't believe how well it holds up. It ages like wine. I also read the books a number of times growing up, which almost always ruins movie adaptations for me, but these are an exception.
It's amazing how much better things are when you use as many practical effects as possible. Miniatures, doubles, matte paintings, camera trickery. All these things hold up over time. And doing it this way let's them tie any cgi to the real world rather than turning into a cartoon. Cough, cough, hobbit movies, cough
The effects hold up, but I think the adaptation is bad in that they cast frodo as a naive child, when frodo was wise and cunning as well as in his 50s and they made frodo look like a coward while in the books he was fighting orcs with sting like a boss. Like in moria, the movie has him hiding, while in the book he is fighting the troll and eviscerating its foot, and talking smack all the while.
PJ had a hard time deciding whose voice should do the narration. He thought about/tried Elrond, Gandalf, and even Frodo before settling on Cate Blanchett and boldly deciding to have the first words in the movie be Elvish. For a while, New Line didn't like having the long prologue intro and told PJ to move the backstory to the Council of Elrond scenes. He filmed Bilbo narrating "On Hobbits" as the prologue, but then the studio decided the prologue was the better opening and PJ cut the Bilbo narration.
"I don't know if that shot was from a wallpaper or a book cover." Some of the shots in this movie are based on the 1978 Ralph Bakshi animated version of Lord Of The Rings.
A fantastic quote from this part of the books (also lends ideas to the movies, which are also fantastic). Frodo meets the wood-elves: "“But it is said: Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger. The choice is yours: to go or wait.' 'And it is also said,' answered Frodo: 'Go not to the Elves for counsel for they will answer both no and yes.' 'Is it indeed?' laughed Gildor. 'Elves seldom give unguarded advice, for advice is a dangerous gift, even from the wise to the wise, and all courses may run ill.”"
I remember seeing this in the theatre when it came out, and then again, and then again. I think I saw it about 5 times in the theatre, dragging a new friend to see it with me every time.
There's a lot of reference to Norse Mythology in these stories, even though Tolkien (chiefly thanks to his friend C.S. Lewis) was a deeply Christian man. It's interesting to read about Norse mythology and then notice the little similarities in these stories, and in other stories as well, if nothing else than the man with the white hair and beard wandering around in a long dark cloak and matching wide-brimmed hat holding a staff - Odin was supposed to a shapeshifter like his blood-brother (not son) Loki but that was supposed to be the appearance he took on the most often whenever he went to Midgard aka Earth out of curiosity, or looking for knowledge.
There's references to lots of mythologies and a lot of them are interconnected. I remember reading he took the all seeing evil eye as a reference from Balor's evil eye. That being said it can also be connected to Odin's eye in the Wellspring of Knowledge used by Mimir in Norse myths, the eye of the Fates in Greek myths. Humans have told the same stories in different ways for centuries and some people do it better than others.. Tolkien did awesome with this story and the references he pulled from myths to do it.
I like Fellowship because it sets up the trilogy. Two Towers and Return of have moments of hope, despair, hope again and then victory against all odds. The best themes of LOTR is friendship and Good vs Evil.
Me too. I always liked fellowship because of the juxtaposition of the idyllic Shire the hobbit come from. And they set on this journey into a big wide world. Something a lot of us as kids often indulged in our dreamland escapades. It's the start of the journey.
Finally the right place to share my frustration: A friend of mine told me some time ago that his father was cleaning out his attic a few years ago and found an original first edition of Lord of the Rings. The books, not the films!!! And he threw them in the trash because he wasn't interested in an old fairy tale!!! 😭
For this 20 year anniversary of the 1st movie I finally read all of the books back in August. It was way overdue and so mad at myself that I didn't read them sooner.
I'm still on Book 1 for some years now lol... When I forget to continue, I start back at the beginning lol... Sometimes the in depth details are a bit much... But the story is wonderful...
I got the BBC Radio dramatization of Lord of the Rings where Ian Holm played Frodo, and the radio drama of The Hobbit. And this was way before the Peter Jackson trilogies were created.
To clarify things about Elrond(Who is decently 9000 years old by this current era. Born in the first age) and therefore his Twin Brother Elros were half elven twin brothers who can choose to be mortal or immortal because of their parents(Eärendil and Elwing) both half elven made a great sacrifice and went to Valinor to ask for help which lead to the greatest events in the early first and second age. Instead of being punished, the valar listened to them, that led to a great hosts of Valar and Maiar And Vanyar Elves went to Middle Earth that laid waste to Beleriand. After the War Of Wrath, the valar rewarded them for their sacrifices. They can choose to be elf or men, including their children. They chose immortally, but never return to Middle Earth because they thought that their twin sons had died. But they didnt die. Elrond chose to be immortal while his twin brother Elros chose to be mortal. He founded the Kingdom of Numenor. He lived in Numenor Island and blessed with a long life that include his descendants Those men who fought for the war were rewarded a long life but not their families or children. Only the family of Elrond can choose to be immortal or mortal in which Arwen did. Aragorn is the direct descendant of Elros, thats why he has a long life. The average lifespan of a Numenorean at their height was a few hundred years maximum! Now remember too that half elves are a common thing and whenever they did come together it was always significant !❤❤❤ Remember this is the SHORT version, there are so many moving parts that will make you want to dive into the books or the audio books or even do reaction videos to the famous lore videos by the biggest lore channels out there! When you’re done the trilogy try doing reaction videos just like Moviejoob did now with the lore recently as well as OmarioRPG. I recommend videos by GirlNextGondor and The Red Book, and Tolkien Untangled and especially Men Of The West. Many other cool ones I’ll recommend in the comments section of those reaction videos you do from Tolkiens Legendarium lore videos. They are super engaging. You’ll be in love. Nothing would have existed if Tolkiens works never hit the light of day as they were meant to stay private and sometimes be shared with his children and so on. No game of thrones. No Skyrim. No ElderScrolls, no dungeons&dragons. None of it. Not even Star Wars. Not even Harry Potter!
I remember seeing this in theatres when it came out 🥺❤ I was so sad at the end when it said to be continue but my mum was really happy about it for some reason. As a kid with ADHD it was frustrating to sit through such a long movie with no proper ending in sight, but as an adult I cherish every second of all three in the trilogy. Superb choice Mellow 😙👌 I'm so happy you've chosen to share such precious childhood memories with us! We'll all be here with you throughout the trilogy!
Minus the adhd. Same! Saw this on a weekend visit with my dad and fell in love with it. Was sooooooo dissatisfied with what I thought was the ending I asked for the book.
There is a video on UA-cam that is hours long, its the whole trilogy but everystep Sam takes it cuts to that scene of him say "the farthest away from home ive ever been"
When Gandalf says "they're not all accounted for, we do not know who else may be watching" about using the Palantir, he didn't mean someone in Orthance spying on him and Saruman. He meant because there's more of the stones that others could be using and watching them while they use the one in Orthanc. If I remember right there was 7 of them, sauron had one, denethor another, saruman had that one, some were lost in the sea. Anyone using one to see other places and events could be looked in on by someone else using one at the same time, so Saruman using that he could be spied on while spying on others.
Here’s the song Aragorn was singing and it’s stated that the elven version is a ton more sorrowful that even those like Galadriel or even Elrond, Lùthien’s great grandson might have trouble reliving the stories of his family as it was a huge bitter sweet epic so long ago. It became almost … taboo isn’t the right right word. It’s similar reason as to why Legolas couldn’t have the heart to tell what the elves singing a lament about Gandalf in lothlorien “for the grief is still too near.” The leaves were long, the grass was green, The hemlock-umbels tall and fair, And in the glade a light was seen Of stars in shadow shimmering. Tinúviel was dancing there To music of a pipe unseen, And light of stars was in her hair, And in her raiment glimmering. There Beren came from mountains cold, And lost he wandered under leaves, And where the Elven-river rolled He walked alone and sorrowing. He peered between the hemlock-leaves And saw in wonder flowers of gold Upon her mantle and her sleeves, And her hair like shadow following. Enchantment healed his weary feet That over hills were doomed to roam; And forth he hastened, strong and fleet, And grasped at moonbeams glistening. Through woven woods in Elvenhome She lightly fled on dancing feet, And left him lonely still to roam In the silent forest listening. He heard there oft the flying sound Of feet as light as linden-leaves, Or music welling underground, In hidden hollows quavering. Now withered lay the hemlock-sheaves, And one by one with sighing sound Whispering fell the beechen leaves In the wintry woodland wavering. He sought her ever, wandering far Where leaves of years were thickly strewn, By light of moon and ray of star In frosty heavens shivering. Her mantle glinted in the moon, As on a hilltop high and far She danced, and at her feet was strewn A mist of silver quivering. When winter passed, she came again, And her song released the sudden spring, Like rising lark, and falling rain, And melting water bubbling. He saw the elven-flowers spring About her feet, and healed again He longed by her to dance and sing Upon the grass untroubling. Again she fled, but swift he came. Tinúviel! Tinúviel! He called her by her elvish name, And there she halted listening. One moment stood she, and a spell His voice laid on her: Beren came, And doom fell on Tinúviel That in his arms lay glistening. As Beren looked into her eyes Within the shadows of her hair, The trembling starlight of the skies He saw there mirrored shimmering. Tinúviel the elven-fair, Immortal maiden elven-wise, About him cast her shadowy hair And arms like silver glimmering. Long was the way that fate them bore, O'er stony mountains cold and grey, Through halls of iron and darkling door, And woods of nightshade morrowless. The Sundering Seas between them lay, And yet at last they met once more, And long ago they passed away In the forest singing sorrowless.
As someone who is 17 now, I grew up with The Lord of the Rings. It has never gotten old. They’ve always been my favorite movies, and I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve seen the trilogy thousands of times. I’m glad there are people who love it as much as I do.
Oh baby this is most definitely my most favorite trilogy ever! & in my opinion the greatest trilogy...no other trilogy, I can think of, comes close to the epicness & consistency as these movies!!
I had wondered why LotR reactions were always by new watchers, not long-time fans who could share stories and trivia and memories about them! This was so much fun. :)
Omg I couldn't stop smiling when you kept quoting an entire movie :D I do this too :D This was the greatest reaction I've seen ,also Gandalf's costume is damn cute!
I have an action figure too- Eowyn! Love her! Ps. The first movie is my favourite. Less war. Stunning scenery. The sublime intro you mentioned. And the pleasure/relief to see on the big screen that the film team didn't ruin it all! But the extended versions are the only ones for me. More book for the money!
God! Watching your reaction, just reminds me of all the great memories I have associated with this trilogy. I saw these movies with my dad, starting with the Fellowship. From there my love for it just grew, when the Two Towers came out i was going through a hard patch in my life. So many things in my life are LOTR related, hell, I even own a prop sword from the movie. Anduril, Flame of the West. It's also reminded me of all the tricky litle ways they filmed the movies. Forced perspective shots, etc. Thanks for reacting!
Honestly, when I hear you saying the words from the movie: I’m not annoyed…I’m chuckling at what a nerd you are for these movies. I am as well, man! Can’t get enough of these films! Thanks for your reactions!
This series will bring you a truck load of followers. Many of which are fans that have been touched on a deep level by the great professors work. And even touched by the PJ films who had many teams involved over many months at a time that really had a reverence for the man and the source material. Nearly everything is handmade and so on. He also pushed the limit on how to film things as well. Adding techniques that nobody else had invented etc. so many cool documentaries to react to with us beside you the whole way through.
I owe so much thanks to both J.R.R. Tolkien and Peter Jackson. At one point, I was considering giving up on my writing and artwork, but I was invited to see Battle of the Five Armies in the theatre. I could never forget the experience, and it really rekindled my passion for creating one again. I can promise you, whether writing chapters or illustrating graphic novels, creating art is nothing but trouble. It is, however, totally worth it when it works.
I gained even more appreciation of this trilogy rewatching it as an adult cause as a kid i didn’t catch that the whole thing was kind of an allegory for war and more importantly the trauma that comes after the war. Frodo’s journey definitely traumatized him to the point where he can’t go back to his comfortable life in the shire. It scarred him so much that he went to the undying lands to heal instead of staying with his friends in the shire. Knowing that made the movies a lot darker in my eyes. Just looking at how innocent and happy he was in the beginning of this movie and looking at how he acts in the end is heartbreaking.
"If you're referring to that incident with the dragon, I was barely involved I just simply your uncle a gentle nudge out the door"..... you practically threw him out the door gandalf.
My grandma ordered me a birthday cake with the hobbits under the tree with the black rider, and then another one with Legolas another year. She bought me the updated books with the movie covers with the bookmarks that had a trinket ring on it. When the Return of the King was announced, we had moved states apart, it was also going to be on her birthday. I jokingly told her that she should come watch it with me at midnight. She ended up flying out to us and my uncle had won midnight release tickets, so we all went together for the final movie. It’s one of her favorite memories, and of course it’s one of mine. lol we also shared a love for the Pirates of the Caribbean. Grandma’s are the best
Aragorn was singing of Beren an Luthien, both his and Elrond's kin from the first age. Beren was a mortal who dared to take a Silmarillion jewel from the Iron crown of the first Dark Lord to win Luthien's hand, who was an elf. She gave up her immortality for Beren, mirroring what is going on with Aragorn and Arwen.
It's such a treat to see someone's wholehearted appreciation for this one. Thanks for having us along for the ride! Agree with you full stop on how great that Flight to Rivendell horse chase was; one of my favorite scenes in the trilogy for sure! I don't know if you saw, but Liv Tyler and Stephen Colbert recently recreated the "If you want him, come and claim him" bit, and she remembered the Elvish words and everything. An absolutely ADORABLE and hilarious interview, you have to check it out
I was raised on this story. My mom read the books to us, we watched all the animated movies. (I loved the Ralph B. LOTR movie) This movie came out when I was 19. It was as if someone put my mind on screen.
Aragorn was singing The Lay of Luthien, which is a song about Beren and Luthien. Beren was mortal, and Luthien was not only an elf, but also the daughter of King Thingol and Queen Melina (a Maiar) of Doriath in the First Age. The song recounts Beren and Luthien’s quest to steal a Silmaril from Morgoth’s crown, which resulted in their deaths, and reincarnation which led to the bloodlines of both Elrond and Aragorn.
It's so great to see another big fan's reaction! Thank you! It's hard to put into words how much these movies mean to me. The direction, cinematography, dialogue, and most of all, what it has to say. Shout out Howard Shore (a fellow Canadian). The score is so perfect!
Ur thumbnail alone is the happiest I have seen someone in a while. U literally look like it's Christmas. How involved u r in this reaction I completely understand. This is me, ironically, during Return of the Jedi my fav movie of my fav trilogy.
If I remember correct, it was nominated for 56 oscars and it won 12 of them :) Still is the record to this day... Absolutely a rollercoast ride of a movie!
I remember hearing about how the Ring Wraith costumes were really heavy because they were like 30 yards of fabric each, plus armor, so both the actors / riders and the horses had to be pretty darn strong!
Ah, a true fan, I see: Extended edition ftw! I was 11 or 12 when The Fellowship of the Ring came to theaters, and I immediately bought the complete trilogy book afterwards. These are my comfort films, and I even watch the behind the scenes special features at least once a year.
i love the costume! lol! these movies are just sublime and i love them so much. i've watched the extended versions back to back every thanksgiving for about 20 years. as soon as they were available for sale i bought them and have been watching them ever since.
So true, all the production design is just amazing. Watching it with the family, we were marveling at how they captured the how we imagined everything from the books, from the makeup to the costumes and sets.
Loving the reaction, mainly just being Mell reciting the lines. Totally me if I did reaction vids and I was watching Labyrinth my absolute fav. I remember when the LOTR first came out too and I watched the fellowship at the movies at least 5 times, can't remember the amount of times of of others but it was lots lol. Never done that with any other move.
27:47 In this Scene Aragorn is singing about the tragic love story of “Beren and Luthien” which is a story from the Silmarillion. Something to mirror the love story between him and Arwen (Man and Elf).
This was so wholesome! Been watching Mell for awhile but did not know how much of a LOTR nerd he was. This was so lovely! I smiled like crazy at every Gandalf scene. Mell nailed it! I am also obsessed with this world since I was little. Why do you always do some crazy stuff for LOTR? I did not eat for a few days because I wanted to walk on snow like Legolas. I also wanted to sow my ears like elf ears. Thanks for older siblings just bying elf ears instead for me instead.
Think of it: Peter Jackson read the books once, fell in love and his dream was to create a beautiful unforgettable film. 😢❤️ And he did it... he bloody did it. If that's not the epitome of the fulfillment of a life long dream then I don't know what is. @MellVerse, how you recited every line, teared up at the music - you made me cry too, but these are happy tears. As a well-known wizard would say: "I will not say 'do not weep', for not all tears are an evil." (Wouldn't you agree that Merry and Pippin would get along greatly with Fred and George Weasley? 😆 Trouble makers and up-to-no-goods tend to know each other!)
Man, some people would see those paperbacks and think that they are mistreated, but personally I think it means they are loved. Also, can we take a moment to admire how durable paperbacks are?
My man rocking the gray beard! I got me the BBC Radio Dramatization of Lord of the Rings where Ian Holm played Frodo. And this was way before Peter Jackson's trilogy. And man when I was little, I'm not gonna lie, those Ringwraiths scared the crap out of me.
I guess that the Ring was ALWAYS the perfect size, for whoever it wished to keep it, to help inspire a feeling that it is meant for them alone, and no-one else could be a better, more deserving wielder. While that shot of it shrinking is a great visual metaphor of its power, I feel like it would not have happened like that, in a way obvious to the one it wished to charm or seduce.
19:46 he meant that someone else with one of the seeing orbs which arent all accounted for as Gandalf said could be seeing them through it and listening to their discussion
Its cool that you like these movies so much because they're some of my favorites and I like your videos. Since you asked, Watchmen is way up there on my list.
When Bilbo said he felt like butter stretched over too much bread, it eludes to the Ring's influence on him, a mortal being. The Ring didn't give Bilbo any extra years or vigor, simply stretched out his natural lifespan. It didn't manage to corrupt him enough, but give it some more time, it might have, what with Sauron coming back.
❤️❤️❤️Best reaction yet! My fave movie of all time. I was going through a divorce when this came out, and would cry at Sam’s words at the end every time; but still went back to watch it over and over.
When I see this movie I mainly think of the Two Towers game cutscenes when they just straight up showed movie clips. I grew up and appreciated the movies as movies eventually but this makes me nostalgic for it haha
lol I also recite the lines along with the movie. One time when I accidentally got WAY too high I just put on this movie and the fact that I know every line was really helpful for me.
You are sooooo right, everytime I watch this movie it sucks me right in. Everything about it...the music, the details, the acting all just perfect. You're also right about Ian Holm, he did an amazing job as Bilbo #RIP
Make no mistake, Sméagol didn’t care about whether the Hobbits were harmed. He just wanted to be the one to get the ring back, and he knew if he gave them up the Wraiths would be the ones to get it.
THE GREATEST TRILOGY OF ALL TIME!
NOW THIS IS PART 1 OF MY FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING REACTION.

@Necramonium I Had The Old Extended Edition. I Didn't Even Know They Released Those Yet
Have you seen “bad taste” by Peter Jackson?
Omg iv never had some one hit me me back thank u bro
What a joy to watch you see something you love so wholeheartedly. Reminded me of my cousin years ago with Home Alone
Great reaction!
You can tell Mel's a true LOTR fan by these things:

-He can recite the entire thing from memory
-He's watching extended. Because everyone knows you NEVER watch the theatrical release
He stole the books as a child ❤
The theatrical release of the movie was still amazing bro what are you talking about?
The theatricals are fine and are better for new people. More concise, more focused. The extended cuts are there for those who want a little more.
I actually think the theatrical version of each movie are the best. Like, no dish to the extended cuts but a lot of those added in scenes take away tension or are just padding that slows down the rest of the film.

Lol Mell: I stole these books, the map, this shirt
Watching Pip and Meri steel the veggies: "come on why yall steeling"
Years later, on ShireTube:
Merry: "So ever since I stole those turnips, it's shaped my life to the turnip farmer I am today."
Mello: I stole all these when I was a kid

I feel really bad for Jackson. You can tell those films would've been just as good as LOTR, if he'd had the same three - five years he had to film LOTR. The pieces are all there, they just don't quite fit together, because everything was rushed.
I gotta say this movie has some of the best music in movie history without a doubt. So beautiful and majestic it puts a tear or two in your eye.

@@dash4800 Absolutely. I think that's a big part of why they've aged so well.
No movies today can compare to lotr, movies seem to get worse and worse every year
The effects hold up, but I think the adaptation is bad in that they cast frodo as a naive child, when frodo was wise and cunning as well as in his 50s and they made frodo look like a coward while in the books he was fighting orcs with sting like a boss.
Like in moria, the movie has him hiding, while in the book he is fighting the troll and eviscerating its foot, and talking smack all the while.
@@putitinreverseterry I agree. Been a long time since I went to the theater. Back then I'd go at least every couple weeks.
"I don't know if that shot was from a wallpaper or a book cover."
Some of the shots in this movie are based on the 1978 Ralph Bakshi animated version of Lord Of The Rings.
A fantastic quote from this part of the books (also lends ideas to the movies, which are also fantastic).
Frodo meets the wood-elves:
"“But it is said: Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger. The choice is yours: to go or wait.'
'And it is also said,' answered Frodo: 'Go not to the Elves for counsel for they will answer both no and yes.'
'Is it indeed?' laughed Gildor.
*Still the best trilogy ever made* it’s not even up for questioning.
Yep, there are some great duologies, but no one ever hit a full trilogy out of the park like this imo.
I agree!
That title belongs to indina Jones. Or the matrix.
The LOTR trilogy was an absolute ONE TIME EVENT!!
@@shauncollinson4393 not even close to LOTR, especially matrix😂
After so many fresh reactions on UA-cam from newcomers, I'm happy to see someone who's as passionate about these films as I am. Good on ya, sir.
Right? It's like marathoning the films with a friend. It's great.
There's a lot of reference to Norse Mythology in these stories, even though Tolkien (chiefly thanks to his friend C.S. Lewis) was a deeply Christian man. It's interesting to read about Norse mythology and then notice the little similarities in these stories, and in other stories as well, if nothing else than the man with the white hair and beard wandering around in a long dark cloak and matching wide-brimmed hat holding a staff - Odin was supposed to a shapeshifter like his blood-brother (not son) Loki but that was supposed to be the appearance he took on the most often whenever he went to Midgard aka Earth out of curiosity, or looking for knowledge.
actually it was Tolkien that helped convert Lewis to Christianity who used to be an atheist
@@Buddy-Dale my mistake
A very exact comentary. I could add many things but I do not want to polute the topic.
@@JJ44285 All very true - though I think you mean the Grey Ladies, they were the ones who shared a single eye, not the fates. But all good points
Loving the crime spree confession during the intro. Ahhhh childhood
AND HOPE
Bless your grandma man, small stuff like that is what matters the most, small gestures like that you never forget
Now remember too that half elves are a common thing and whenever they did come together it was always significant !❤❤❤
Remember this is the SHORT version, there are so many moving parts that will make you want to dive into the books or the audio books or even do reaction videos to the famous lore videos by the biggest lore channels out there!
I love how you know every line of the movie 🤣♥️
The cut out in your beard is awesome! Had my laughing so hard when u did close ups! It’s a permanent smile and only see teeth moving
There is a video on UA-cam that is hours long, its the whole trilogy but everystep Sam takes it cuts to that scene of him say "the farthest away from home ive ever been"
The whole movie series is ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR!!
Gives me chills when you hear sauron say "i see you" through the ring.
everyone needs a Sam as a friend in they life. bro i love the Lord of the rings Trilogy too. i can marathon the extended cut all day everyday.
Seven stars and seven stones and one white tree...
It’s similar reason as to why Legolas couldn’t have the heart to tell what the elves singing a lament about Gandalf in lothlorien “for the grief is still too near.”
The leaves were long, the grass was green,
The hemlock-umbels tall and fair,
And in the glade a light was seen
Of stars in shadow shimmering.
Tinúviel was dancing there
To music of a pipe unseen,
And light of stars was in her hair,
And in her raiment glimmering.
There Beren came from mountains cold,
And lost he wandered under leaves,
And where the Elven-river rolled
He walked alone and sorrowing.
He peered between the hemlock-leaves
And saw in wonder flowers of gold
Upon her mantle and her sleeves,
And her hair like shadow following.
Enchantment healed his weary feet
That over hills were doomed to roam;
And forth he hastened, strong and fleet,
And grasped at moonbeams glistening.
Through woven woods in Elvenhome
She lightly fled on dancing feet,
And left him lonely still to roam
In the silent forest listening.
He heard there oft the flying sound
Of feet as light as linden-leaves,
Or music welling underground,
In hidden hollows quavering.
Now withered lay the hemlock-sheaves,
And one by one with sighing sound
Whispering fell the beechen leaves
In the wintry woodland wavering.
He sought her ever, wandering far
Where leaves of years were thickly strewn,
By light of moon and ray of star
In frosty heavens shivering.
Her mantle glinted in the moon,
As on a hilltop high and far
She danced, and at her feet was strewn
A mist of silver quivering.
When winter passed, she came again,
And her song released the sudden spring,
Like rising lark, and falling rain,
And melting water bubbling.
He saw the elven-flowers spring
About her feet, and healed again
He longed by her to dance and sing
Upon the grass untroubling.
Again she fled, but swift he came.
Tinúviel! Tinúviel!
He called her by her elvish name,
And there she halted listening.
One moment stood she, and a spell
His voice laid on her: Beren came,
And doom fell on Tinúviel
That in his arms lay glistening.
As Beren looked into her eyes
Within the shadows of her hair,
The trembling starlight of the skies
He saw there mirrored shimmering.
Tinúviel the elven-fair,
Immortal maiden elven-wise,
About him cast her shadowy hair
And arms like silver glimmering.
Long was the way that fate them bore,
O'er stony mountains cold and grey,
Through halls of iron and darkling door,
And woods of nightshade morrowless.
The Sundering Seas between them lay,
And yet at last they met once more,
And long ago they passed away
In the forest singing sorrowless.
Me too lol... Quoting and also join in with the battle cries ahahaha...
I was dying when he said he stole the book but then the hoodie 😂 my man was true menace 🤣 no lie LoTR is purely amazing
@2:24 I thought we was going to see a 'theft' haul video for a moment capped off with that cheeky giggle "he he" @2:29 lol XD
A book that remains popular for 86 years has a story to rule them all.
Really happy you've started this trilogy. One of the most impressive ever made
I meant on the review channel. Cheers
Mellndalf, you've made my day brother!!! Love your cosplay man. Appropriate for this reaction!
My mans really doing the superior Extended versions. Respect
The army in the intro is actully all mellos old teachers chasing their little thief. 😂
I can still remember the trailer playing on the TV and being so excited. A real masterpiece.
An absolutely ADORABLE and hilarious interview, you have to check it out
this is my favorite reaction of yours, i always come to it when i feel down. thank you!
Mello shows how much he loves the movies this man talking along with the dialogue
Every time I hear Galadriel narrating I smile... its like coming home.
I watched Fellowship back when it first came out in theaters. Wooo boy, that was an experience that stuck with me decades later.
MellVerse : "elves think they above everyone else" Me: weeeel they sort of are.
I love how excited you are watching this!! and you're right, GOAT!!!
One small detail I love in this movie is when Bilbo drops the ring. You can see and hear the heaviness of it. Can also sort of feel the weight of it
You got that right Mello that movie is legendary! And sorry about ur grandma and awesome action figures and books
27:47 In this Scene Aragorn is singing about the tragic love story of “Beren and Luthien” which is a story from the Silmarillion. Something to mirror the love story between him and Arwen (Man and Elf).
Still love Ragnarok Cate Blanchette. That gothic look. Ill worship Hela

Had to sub becasue LOTR is my favorite trilogy of all time as well! It's my childhood! I watched it when I was 8 and was very much in love with it!
A borderline overpowered elf called Glorfindel was supposed to save Frodo but Arwen was a solid choice for the movies!
Cause i'm an old guy, my thing was Star Wars. I sat in the front row of a cinemascope screen on opening day in 1977...changed my life.
Hahaha I can definitely see that you watch it more than one time. I'm mouthing the lines and you are too. Amazing movie, amazing reaction.
The random quoting of the lines 😂
The sign of multiple rewatchings!
Think of it: Peter Jackson read the books once, fell in love and his dream was to create a beautiful unforgettable film.
😢❤️
And he did it... he bloody did it. If that's not the epitome of the fulfillment of a life long dream then I don't know what is.
@MellVerse, how you recited every line, teared up at the music - you made me cry too, but these are happy tears.
As a well-known wizard would say: "I will not say 'do not weep', for not all tears are an evil."
(Wouldn't you agree that Merry and Pippin would get along greatly with Fred and George Weasley? 😆 Trouble makers and up-to-no-goods tend to know each other!)
Finishing this video right before the council of Elrond is a masterful move!
Man, some people would see those paperbacks and think that they are mistreated, but personally I think it means they are loved. Also, can we take a moment to admire how durable paperbacks are?
Watching this video with a big fan...it's like watching with a friend in a way. 🙂
I hope it’s the extended edition
Is there any other?.
I remember the first time I read this book I was extremely skeptical of the trustworthiness of that Strider fellow. At least when they first met him.
I love you talking along with it and the Scottish accent :)
I stole my middle school’s copy of The Hobbit from the Library. When it comes to these books, morality goes right out the window.
Your comment is hilarious because it's so true

Make no mistake, Sméagol didn’t care about whether the Hobbits were harmed. He just wanted to be the one to get the ring back, and he knew if he gave them up the Wraiths would be the ones to get it.
