- Okay, but where has this movie been all my life??
Plus this poster does NOT do Mr. Darcy's actor justice.
Check out my first Bridgerton reaction video (also first time watching): • Bridgerton *first time...
I'm so sorry about how bad the audio is!
Honestly, this movie falls into the comfort films category. I can keep rewatching it over and over. I have to say it was funny that Mr. Collins made you cringe so much even if this was the first time you were watching (he’s a really good actor because he was very convincingly annoying). But yeah, keep up the good work!
Mr. Darcy: “This is a charming house”
Welcome to Pride and Prejudice. Jane Austen who wrote the book probably had no inkling what generations of women would be dreaming for a Mr. Darcy.
The disgust on your face when Mr. Collins is on the screen is a universal experience lmao
Totally not weird at all to like his voice. I freaking love his voice. Matthew’s voice and Alan Rickman’s have always done me in.
Another day and another woman to fall in love with Mr Darcy...
"So this is where all those Wattpad stories get it from."
The raw eggs in milk thing was a medieval cure for hangovers. Mrs. Bennet got hammered the night before.
Matthew's voice is scrumptious. Not a "weird thing" to say- at all.🕺🌹
I love the way Nadia says “Hi” every time Darcy pops up on screen. So cute.
"You have to see it from his point of view."
No, definitely not a weird thing to say. “There’s something pleasant about his mouth when he speaks” is a line in this movie that cracks me up every time. So relatable. ☺️❤️
In this version (and there are many), Darcy is portrayed as someone who is aloof because he's shy (as well as being brought up to be class conscious). In other versions, he's mostly portrayed as simply being a man of few words, a stoic, also very class conscious.
The hand scene has a deeper meaning: back then, it was considered a very intimate exchange if a man touched a woman's bare hands. That's why they're always wearing gloves❤️
the book is a beautiful piece of literature and if reading is something you enjoy then please read it
The scene where she is walking through the house is meant to be,
I'm watching this because I could never experience watching this movie for the first time again. Watching other people's first times is as good as it gets for us old time watchers.
You had a lot of great takes on this, especially for a first run through. Most of the nuance went right over my head on my first watch. Jane Austen works are always an intricate chess game - the more you know the social etiquette rules and what the players can and can't do, the more you appreciate the stakes and consequences she's set up. I like how you zeroed in on how Darcy and Elizabeth are both honest at their core and that's why they're drawn together. I never thought about it like that. But it's true, the only reason they sort out their flaws is because they're honest with each other at the first proposal, and respect the other enough to change for the better.
My boyfriend's voice was the first thing I liked about him. Soo. I'm gonna say no. It's not a weird thing to say
