Thank you so much for posting this video! I bought a traverse rod and had never installed one before. The directions were terrible! That tiny segment (in part 2) where you tell us to make sure the string is under that plastic hook, made me stop going crazy wondering what I had done wrong.

    great video
I have a decorative traverse rod I am trying to install, 1) how far from the wall (clearance) should the end and the center support brackets (attached to the rod) be ? this clearance can be adjusted with the brackets I am using. 2) The length of the rod can be adjusted since it is composed of two interlocking left and right sections. My question is how long should I make the rod ? (Do I take into account the width of window or the total width of the 2 draperies which close in the center ? ...Thank you so much for any help

Great questions! The rod brackets come factory set between 3" - 4" and that will work fine. I would measure the width of the panels as your guide for how far out you go out on each side but keep in mind you need 4" for the overlap. Example: 2 panels measuring 40" wide = 80", deduct 4" for overlap = 76" rod face.
Optionally you can return the drapery panels to the wall for a better side view and in this case you would deduct 4" on left panel, 4" on right and 4" for center overlap for a total of 12" from the panel widths. Example: two 40" wide panels = 80", deduct 12" = 68" rod face.
Keep in mind you only need to deduct a total of 4" for the overlap and this is NOT per panel as you may think.... Good Luck!

Thank you so much for the valuable tips.
To clarify; the window itself has a width of 70" 5/16 and each of the drapery (left and right window panels) measures 49" 1/2 in width.
The curtain rod can be adjusted to extend beyond 100" if needed.
With these measurements, If I understand correctly I have Two ~ 50 inches wide panels that's 100 inches I would deduct 12 inches = 88 inches (that means I have to adjust the rod length to 88 inches). ?
And since the middle point of the window is 70" 5/16 (rounded to 71") divided by 2 = 35" 1/8 (rounded to ~ 35" 1/2) --> The rod will be mounted on the wall in a way that it extend about 8" 1/2 on each side of the window.
      8.5 + 8.5 + 71 =88
Once again thank you very much for time

Perfect! You are so very correct! The easiest way is to place a small pencil mark above the middle of the window and measure out 44" on each side. Best of luck!
