Apologies of the audio is a little off; my trusty headset died and I'm trying to get a more professional replacement working. At a family birthday. Will add a real preview image later.
If you're ever interested in getting your NES working well again (assuming it's not a problem with the hardware/motherboard itself), you should check out this modification for the NES called The Blinking Light Win. It's a replacement for the 72 pin connector that the game cartridge plugs into to work. There exist replacements for the standard connector but this modification replaces the original loading mechanism inside the console so that it's a straight load and thus more reliable. I've had one on my NES for the past 3 years and my games work first time every time. All you'd need to do is partially disassemble the NES to swap parts but it's not too hard and there's tutorials on UA-cam that show what to do as well. Again this is if you're interested in getting that NES working properly again, you can also just get a different one or just emulate the games through clone systems like the one in the video.

I did find the Freddy's Game way more faithful to the movies. As a fan of the series I really do appreciate you added in the fun facts from the series. Give the online multiplayer Friday the 13th one thing: They included the NES Jason design as an alternate costume, complete with a chiptune track for when he's nearby a counselor.
The flashlight is actually completely pointless because you can find the entrance to Pamela’s room by just looking at the rocks on the floor. The rocks in front of the spot where the door is are colored slightly differently (as seen at 14:10 just behind Mark) so just stand in front of them and press up on the d-pad to go through the door. Then repeat the process until you reach Pamela. This technique makes fighting Pamela by far the easiet way to get the special weapons in the game. Killing 60 zombies for a machete takes a long time and while you’re trying to do it, Jason will continue to kill counselors and kids. However, as far as I know, Jason never attacks when you’re in the caves, therefore your counselors are safe while you fight Pamela. I hope that helps. Also, on days 2 and 3 she drops better items like a sweater that reduces how much damage you take. Those items can’t be acquired any other way, that I know of at least.

What I don't get is, there are hundreds of NES and Famicom games. And each game is a few hundred kilobytes at the most. So even some 5 + years ago, they could easily fit in some 500, 600 or even 800 NES games onto a device and actually not lie about how many games they have. But they chose....not to for some reason.
Easier to duplicate a few hundred games repeatedly than add six hundred individual games to the console, bootlegers always take the laziest route possible.
I took out full health day 3 Jason with a rock to the death defending the kids since I intentionally killed off the other 5 counselors for this specific challenge. Took a long time, but it can be done. I prefer to fight him outside on day 3 though. It's a lot faster to defeat him.
Since you like Friday the 13th movies and since Halloween is approaching next month. Can you reviews of the original Splatterhouse trilogy and the Splatterhouse (2010) video game. You think you can get play the arcade original of Splatterhouse on the Namco Museum (2017). The main character Rick make you think playing as the infamous Jason.
Decent game actually. It did a few clever things like puzzles, secrets, and weapons. I liked the game, and managed to beat it as a kid back in the day. If course it took countless hours. Nowadays who has the time? So by walkthroughs or speedruns, the game can be beaten rather quickly.
I just got Freddy Versus Jason yesterday at V-Stock's Labor Day sale. I'll probably watch it tomorrow. I watched the original and remake Nightmare on Elm Street films and really likes them. I'm very curious to try the rest of the series; I've just heard that films 4-6 are awful.
The only one I would actually say tried to be a horror film and not just roller coaster Entertainment, was the first one. To be honest, in terms of quality, the first one is the best film in the franchise. Now here's a question for you Jadow, who's the better slasher villain, Freddy or Jason?
Trust me, I own the online multiplayer version of Friday the 13th. Games kinda dead, since the developers got a cease and desist from the actual maker of the movies and that means no new updates, but if you play offline you get to play a solo campaign.
Although all of your points are valid and the game is certainly unfair, I can tell the developers really tried their best with this game. The game is surprisingly accurate to the source material, which is something you didn’t usually get in a liscenced game at the time (and we still don’t always get that in games today). The counselors are vastly outmatched by Jason and must use teamwork to stop him, the overworld map for camp Crystal Lake is very detailed, the woods and caves are easy to get lost in without a map, and the dark creepy cabins you have to wander around in search of Jason can be very tense especially when he jumpscares you! But the biggest piece of evidence that shows how much the devs cares about the game is Jason’s mom showing up in the caves. That part was ripped straight from Friday the 13th part 2, and in the original script, her head was going to come alive and attack the counselors just like it does in the game! Plus, you get Pamela’s sweater from beating her and use it against Jason just like they did in the movie! Clearly the developers were fans of the series and did their best with what they had to work with, so for that, I appreciate it. I totally understand if you don’t like it (and I don’t really like it that much myself) but I find it fun to play every now and then for laughs! Great review Jadow! I love all your videos!
That's the thing I tried to acknowledge at the end: it's clear that effort went into the game, they generally followed the movie and they were trying something new- the game's design is just too flawed to be a good game. And thanks!
@Darklordjadow1 You’re welcome! I think someone should give this game concept another try now that we have better hardware to work with. A singleplayer Friday the 13th game could be really awesome if it was done right.
I've only seen part of the first movie and I hated it. If you hear me screaming in terror while I'm in the woods, come rescue me. If the scream is suddenly cut off, don't. The characters in the movie get it backwards.
That's only what happens in the movies released after the game. In Part 2 he gets a machete buried in his shoulder down to where his lung would about be- and survives. Part 3 (the day after part 2) he's hanged and takes an axe to the forehead- and survives Part 4 (the day after part 3) his hand is split in half, he takes a machete to the eye, and he's hacked to bits- and THAT finally kills him. Part 6 he's struck by lightning and revived as a zombie, only to end up chained to a rock at the bottom of the lake and taking a running propeller to the face Part 7 he's half skeletal and fights a psychic lady that sets him on fire and explodes a house on him.
@@Darklordjadow1 and the late Steve Dash (part 2's masked Jason actor) suffered an injury while filming the scene where Ginny hits Jason with the machete after knocking the pickaxe out of his hands; Amy Steel missed the pickaxe and hit Steve on his middle finger, which meant he had to go to the emergency room with a prop machete sticking out of his shoulder, leading to a reaction of "oh my God!" from the staff, and Steve having to explain his finger was what needed attention instead.
I actually liked the game as a kid, and still kinda do. And on topic of Robocop 4. consider yourself lucky you didn't played Terminator 3 and 4 on NES.
There are actually four Robocop games on NES. You're missing Robocop VS The Terminator. It never came out, but a finished yet unreleased game is nothing bootleggers can't get their hands on.
I don't hate the online multiplayer Friday the 13th game. I hate ALL online multiplayer. (Or just about all- I may need to try playing Yu-Gi-Oh online)
@@Darklordjadow1 Covid makes playing physical card games harder for obvious reasons so I decided to make an exception and try it online a little bit, it's not the worst thing ever as long as you avoid the competitive players. It's not ideal but the other alternative is using a webcam pointed at your table and that's cumbersome and lagging is rampant, plus you know for sure your opponent will be cheating with cards hidden behind their table.
Not the first time something MLP related showed up. In his "Daikatana review part 2" video, he made a mention to Twilight Sparkle and in his "Shamu's Deep Sea Adventures" video, he makes an anthropomorphic pony joke.
This was one of the only games that got me to jump back from time to time. I have beaten it a few times without glitches (to my knowledge), but it's just terrible. LOL!
A. If you haven't seen them yet, the Nightmare on Elm Street movies have some really great heights. The first one is odd considering the rest of the franchise but still has chilling deaths. The second is...weird (may or may not be a metaphor for being gay. I say not because I don't feel like Freddy possession is a good metaphor AT ALL) but it's still scary albeit in a different way. Dream Warriors is probably the best one so far and started the series tradition of really creative deaths and Freddy's jokes contain a fuckton of malice and sadism that he comes across like a psychotic monster playing with his prey. Dream Master I hear got fucked by a writer strike but it's still got really good deaths and Freddy's still carrying his malice and sadism. Dream Child is...okay, it's not too good partially because it was influenced by the actress having a child and then pushing some pro-life stuff in a series with it's monster being born from EXTENSIVE rape. Deaths aside from the first and second aren't that good. Freddy's Dead has the power glove. You might have fun with that one (and one death that has what I assume is Freddy's O face.) At this point, Freddy's a bloody Bugs Bunny. New Nightmare was...i don't even know how to describe it. Extremely experimental I guess. Better than the last three definitely even if a five clawed glove looks stupid. And Freddy vs. Jason isn't very scary and has dated CGI....but I think it has surprisingly good action that sells how powerful both monsters are. Finally- Stay the fuck away from the remake.
Oh and the game was also published by Atlus. Dunno who they are? Look up 'Shin Megami Tensei' or better yet, it's spinoff 'Persona'. ... yes, the Persona guys PUBLISHED THIS. Not really much of an excuse either, as the SMT franchise is older than this game.
"But, Jadow~! AVGN already covered this game, even if 'twas a long-ass time ago! Therefore, your opinion on the game is superfluous and redundant!" If you can't tell, I'm kidding. You gonna chain this with "A Nightmare on Elm Street" for NES?
I had a line referencing that in the script followed by a retort of "so? If I was only allowed to talk about things that non big Youtibers had covered, this channel would melt down to that Rendel review that nobody watched really quickly." I hadn't planned on doing Nightmare on Elm Street NES, but it sounds like I have to now. It's not on my bootleg system, but hopefully I can get the old NES working.
@@Darklordjadow1 To wit, I reinstate that I was merely joking, my good man. Someone else, however, could be serious whereas I was not. I can't wait to see it. IMO, the music in THAT game is actually pretty kick-ass as opposed to this one, esp. the hub world music.
Lol at the bootleg names..... Mortal Combat 4 Snow Bros Mario 14...? Jason is a son of a bitch when encountered for the beat up, Mike Tyson he is not. Mike was somewhat fair. And ah....I see you found the infamous screen I mentioned to you with the knife in the guys head! No shits were given back then folks. Nope. :)
Your interpretation of exploits and speedrunning leads me to believe that you know literally nothing about speedrunning other than the base concept, and not even really that. I took out full health day 3 Jason with a rock to the death defending the kids since I intentionally killed off the other 5 counselors for this specific challenge. Took a long time, but it can be done. I prefer to fight him outside on day 3 though. It's a lot faster to defeat him.
seems like the only feasible way to beat the game is to get the damage reduction, and to just essentially trap him outside
I would rather watch Jason Goes To Hell than play this game. Plus, its my third favourite Friday the 13th film.
This is a good review Jadow... but you should've reviewed this game in November since it HAS a Friday the 13th.
Can we appreciate the ammount of shit that this guy goes through to keep us entertained.
I'll bet that 4th robocop game is the canceled nes version of robocop vs terminator.
This is such a great review.
Review Kid Icarus
Great Review! Classic! 💯😂
Decent game actually. It did a few clever things like puzzles, secrets, and weapons. I liked the game, and managed to beat it as a kid back in the day. If course it took countless hours. Nowadays who has the time? So by walkthroughs or speedruns, the game can be beaten rather quickly.
today i have "not-killed" jason one time (1of3), i was able to handle fights, but on the second day he starts to spam "double jab", how you survived?
Just wondering, have you considered watching Freddy vs. Jason? Or the Nightmare on Elm Street series?
I just got Freddy Versus Jason yesterday at V-Stock's Labor Day sale. I'll probably watch it tomorrow.
I watched the original and remake Nightmare on Elm Street films and really likes them. I'm very curious to try the rest of the series; I've just heard that films 4-6 are awful.
@@Darklordjadow1 I believe the 3rd movie and Wes Craven's New Nightmare are considered good. Not sure about the 2nd one though.
@@Darklordjadow1 Nightmare On Elm Street 4 just happened to be my favourite Elm Street film. But the remake is worst Freddy film in my opinion.
I love Jason X.
One of my favorite bad films.
Just review Brian dead 13 it's a very good interesting 2d hand made cartoon you'll love it
0:45 You Do That!?! can we ever see them?
The only one I would actually say tried to be a horror film and not just roller coaster Entertainment, was the first one. To be honest, in terms of quality, the first one is the best film in the franchise. Now here's a question for you Jadow, who's the better slasher villain, Freddy or Jason?
The C64 game was pretty good for its time.
ok, how about The jungle book nes? that's all I can think about
I believe that actually is on my Bootleg machine.
@@Darklordjadow1 excellent
@@Darklordjadow1 wonderful
@@Darklordjadow1 I love the jungle book games
The characters in the movie get it backwards.
maybe a friday the 13th game should have you play AS Jason, seriously it'd kinda be like that game Naughty Bear, in how it plays
There was a *very* janky and broken Friday the 13th fangame back in 2007 that tried something like that, like, a year before Naughty Bear came out.
you have a rarity plush, do you like MLP FiM? cuz if so i kinda do two, no judging here dude
I wonder if he's actually watched JoJo.
So Jason is actually purple
why did they make the game so hard?
21:06 I never watched any of those movies but seems like Jason has to deal with a lot of shit in the later movies.
That's only what happens in the movies released after the game.
In Part 2 he gets a machete buried in his shoulder down to where his lung would about be- and survives.
Part 3 (the day after part 2) he's hanged and takes an axe to the forehead- and survives
Part 4 (the day after part 3) his hand is split in half, he takes a machete to the eye, and he's hacked to bits- and THAT finally kills him.
Part 6 he's struck by lightning and revived as a zombie, only to end up chained to a rock at the bottom of the lake and taking a running propeller to the face
Part 7 he's half skeletal and fights a psychic lady that sets him on fire and explodes a house on him.
@@Darklordjadow1 So he has to deal with a lot of shit.
Realistically jump over the wolves. xD
Maybe Jason is just lonely.
Oh yeah. This is the game NC17Productions reviewed. This review is obviously better than his.
Friday The 13th is the worst NES Game I've ever played
There are actually four Robocop games on NES. You're missing Robocop VS The Terminator. It never came out, but a finished yet unreleased game is nothing bootleggers can't get their hands on.
I know a horror game that has an amazing story it's called rule of rose I think you should emulate the game for Halloween next year
some kind of silent hill? what is amazing?
Why do you hate the online multiplayer Friday the 13th game?
Review inFAMOUS next
Cabin by the lake is almost as dumb as ramps can be used as ramps.
Or that bubbles of air are air bubbles.
Why you dont want to play the newest friday the 13th game?
I just don't have a particular fondness for online multiplayer.
I see you met ljn
why not review braindead 13 ps1?
I argee with him too why not review branded 13 PS1?
Yes!
He's stated several times that he doesn't own a PS1 so PS1 games are not an option for reviews.
Please?
*Sees the rarity plush* i didnt know you where a MLP fan
Not the first time something MLP related showed up. In his "Daikatana review part 2" video, he made a mention to Twilight Sparkle and in his "Shamu's Deep Sea Adventures" video, he makes an anthropomorphic pony joke.
This was one of the only games that got me to jump back from time to time. I have beaten it a few times without glitches (to my knowledge), but it's just terrible. LOL!
Do Knack 2
10:08-18:20
All the Friday movies are pretty dumb ngl.
But they’re fun.
Friday the 13th movies, sure they're dumb. Friday movies on the other hand are comedy gold.
If I was only allowed to talk about things that non big Youtibers had covered, this channel would melt down to that Rendel review that nobody watched really quickly."
I hadn't planned on doing Nightmare on Elm Street NES, but it sounds like I have to now. It's not on my bootleg system, but hopefully I can get the old NES working.
People tend to forget that AVGN videos tend to be more about hyperbolic comedy than actually reviewing the game.
@@Darklordjadow1 To wit, I reinstate that I was merely joking, my good man. Someone else, however, could be serious whereas I was not.
I can't wait to see it. IMO, the music in THAT game is actually pretty kick-ass as opposed to this one, esp. the hub world music.
@@Feltzer342 Well that was before I looked it up on ebay. Working NOES carts run at least 50 bucks a pop!
@@Darklordjadow1 Hmm... what about emulators, then, if ANOES carts are that expensive? Or, is that not an option?
Lol at the bootleg names.....
Mortal Combat 4
Snow Bros
Mario 14...?
Jason is a son of a bitch when encountered for the beat up, Mike Tyson he is not. Mike was somewhat fair.
And ah....I see you found the infamous screen I mentioned to you with the knife in the guys head!
No shits were given back then folks. Nope. :)
Jason wouldn't look iconic if he had a modern goalie mask.
Friday the 13th isn't NES hard. It's NES dumb.
Aw. you're a Rarity fan. I'm more a Pinkie Pie/Luna fan.

Your interpretation of exploits and speedrunning leads me to believe that you know literally nothing about speedrunning other than the base concept, and not even really that. These "holier than thou", know-it-all, and "only my opinion is right" attitudes you've show about so many things, through the course of watching several of your videos in the past few weeks out of boredom and it's really starting to wear down on the little enjoyment I got beyond the first video I saw for Rodea.
If speedrunners want to spend WAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY too long memorizing every single pixel of a bad game just for the sake of finishing it faster for no reason other than bragging rights, then they have too much free time.
