@GenerationGapGaming, Just a quick question. When Jason appears inside the cabin, didn't that every freak you out? For some reason which I cannot explain, every single time when I played this as a kid, I jumped whenever Jason appeared in the damn cabin. Whether it's the sound or the way he jumps on screen made me startled even if I was ready for it!! Ugh, such bad memories.
Fun fact.. it’s possible to fight Jason in the big cabins. When fighting him on the path, when he runs off screen he’s usually in the nearest big cabin
This was the first "mature" content game I had growing up. Hard at first, but mastered it after weeks of going around and around. Learning the Woods and Caves is key to running a complete walkthrough, getting his Mom's sweater. Really loved it. Fond memories.
Friday the 13th wasnt a bad game. It was just a very confusing game and alot of people got frustrated and said it was a bad game cuz of it. That was all it took to kill this games reputation
This game terrified me as a little kid and gave me nightmares damn near every night. When my late brother would play this, id put my hands over my ears cuz the music was creepy and scary and the sound of when jason pops up freaked me out. Scared me more than any movie I've ever saw.
Jason scared the hell out of me as a kid. my mom bought me this game and I would hide it at the bottom of my game pile so I wouldn't see Jason on the cover.
0blivi0n100 I think a lot of kids were like this and dont want to admit it. We would do anything to avoid something scary including hiding our stuff lol
*I prefer just lighting the large cabins to get the torch then collect as many medicine jars and taking out jason with 1 counselor over 3 days to make it quick. I always get the sweater on Day 2 from Pamela and the pitchfork. Easy work if you know how to dodge in the cabins. ✅🙂*
@@nintendoor1Lighting the cabins just gives you the Flashlight. However you’ll get notes at some point you’ll get Note that says “There’s a Torch in Cabin by the Lake” It’s the top big Cabin. Go in and it’s near the door on way out
@@thebeatlesandoasis05 and be fucking careful. I can't tell you how many times I've see the torch and reacted too late to grab it. If it goes off screen, you're screwed lol.
@@lucyloo2228you can get the torch without lighting any fireplaces, you just need to find the note that says to go into the woods and then go into the woods with a key and find the hidden cabin with the other torch note, its a certain woods and specific cabin though which I'm not gonna say so i dont ruin the fun. You can also get the torch by lighting four fireplaces (not saying which four, youll need to figure that out), reading the torch note and then getting it from the big cabin by the lake, both torch strats require going to the cabin by the lake for the torch.
I have this game on my NES and I liked it as a kid. But it frustrated me as an adult. Because I never really understood how to play it. But now I think I get it. I'm going to dust off my nes and give it a shot!! Thanks Tyler!!
dan, pixel.....so this is why you haven't reviewed any toys lately? because you're too busy eating doritos and binge watching nes tribute videos? get back to work and review more action dolls please, it's your job and you should be focused on that, not this
I love the sound the wolf would make in the cave! I also love the sound when Jason pops up in the house it would startle me. I also found it mysterious whenever I would randomly go into a big house and it would say Jason was inside!
Lighting up all of the fireplaces DOES have a meaning though, if all of them are lit up at the same time, one of the cabins near the lake will have the torch in it. It might be an alternate way of getting it. But I think Jason goes around and removes the fire sometimes. The different counselors have, from what I remember, different abilities in 4 different stats : some of them move fast, some of them jump high, and some of them throw their weapons faster (smaller arc for rocks). The last one stat is rowing speed, from what I remember Mark is the best rower. Generally when a character has low jump, they have high speed weapons. High speed also goes with high jump for most counselors. The exception is Chrissie, she has high speed, low jump, but fast weapon, so she's my go to for exploring the map usually, like hitting the fireplaces. Mark is best parked near the lake and given a good weapon to handle Jason at the kids house. The weapon speed is seen in the fights in the houses as well, although it's a bit less obvious, and probably makes no difference as most of the in house fighting is done learning the pattern of dodging and what little windows you have to attack. He has a different pattern everyday but sticks to it. He only stays around for 7 hits as well, which means that you'll do only 1 bar of damage with stones or knives, but 2 with Machete, 3 with Axe, and 7 with Torch/Pickfork. Careful though, when he's done under 7 bars left he doesn't stop attacking until he's dead. Once you learn the pattern, it's actually easier to kill him in the houses than on the road. There's also an alternate way of getting the Axe, which is Jason's Mother. She has a different prize each day. On the first day, it's a weapon upgrade. Basically you get one tier over the weapon you have. So a knife gets the Machete, Machete gets the Axe. I haven't tried fighting her with the axe, but I'd wager it's the torch or pickfork. On the second day, Jason's Mother gives the sweater which reduces damage. A good idea to give it to a character you'll use to face Jason often, like Mark. That's my personal tips. I was literally the only one I knew that ever beat that game back in the days.
One other tip that's useful: on day three, always fight Jason outside. His inside attack speed on day three is almost impossible to dodge and there's a really good chance you'll lose a counselor if you try. I learned this one the hard way :)
Not at all. I consistently beat him inside when I was playing. The thing is, he has a pattern, and that pattern is something like punch-punch-move left-punch-punch-move back-move forward-punch. Basically you need to be constantly using your dodge, and only attack in the small window where he moves backward. It makes the fight pretty long, but if you're not greedy getting 7 hits in without losing health is not hard. Fighting him outside is technically harder to dodge his attacks, while inside the house it's possible to beat him without losing any health at all once you learned the pattern. That pattern changes every day. If you are trying to be greedy and hit him while he's moving, you're probably going to get punched. In fact, during third day you might as well not move left/right at all, just stand still and wait for Jason to get close, dodge, attack while he pulls back ONLY.
I'm glad someone actually took the time to shed light on this great classic. Damn this game used to scare the hell out of us lol. Especially that loud sound when Jason appeared, it was a wrap. One of my friends literally threw the controller and ran away when he saw Jason the first time lol. Great times. Thanks for the video.
I remember when I had a powered up counselor I would literally stalk Jason, I would wear him down he would turn and run but I'd chase him over and over til he was done, ah memories
This game was so difficult for me as a kid. You deserve more than 8,644 subscribers. Entertaining, easy to listen to, inoffensive, and you're informative. Good luck.
Wow. This was a suprisingly in depth breakdown of an overlooked classic, possibly more versed in the game, its strategies, mechanics and appeal than the developers themselves.
This is one of my all time favorite NES games and I'm happy to see I'm not the only one on UA-cam trying to defend it's bad reputation. I think most of it's detractors have been people that just didn't understand the game or just played it for fifteen minutes before declaring it 'dumb' and giving up. Big thanks on sharing the forest trick to get the torch. I've been playing this game for nearly 3 decades now and never knew you could get it that way. That's way quicker than my method of chasing notes around.
This is one of my favorite NES games. I play it every Halloween and put Jason back in his grave. I try not to rush through it too fast though. I like to take my time with most of my games.
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one with love for this game. Every October I go through several games including this one, symphony of the night, and usually one of the resident evil games, as well as watch horror movies all month long. This game doesn't get nearly enough love or credit for being one of the first survival horror games, and its genuinely fun and will make you jump too. Been playing it since I was 9, and probably beaten it over 50 times easily, but I always go back to it
Finally settled a score from 30 yrs ago thanks to your video. I loved this game and I came close having killed him 2 times but could never kill him a 3rd. I was only 6 or 7 yrs old playing this and thought that it would just loop and you couldn't win. Alot of this games magic has to do with that music that always stuck with me. I love the 8 bit music from back then.Just wanted to say thank you for helping me get my sweet sweet Revenge.
I recently did a Visual and musical cover of the main cabin theme . Check it out and tell me what you think ^_^ ua-cam.com/video/oBuKfhZ18S8/v-deo.html
I was a weird kid and always picked and played games that none of my friends liked. I'd stick with them too and get frustrated when my friends would move on to another game that was easier to beat or easier to play. I never did learn any of the mechanics you showed in this video, but I tried my best to figure out how to beat Jason when I was a kid. Thanks for making this video, brought back a lot of memories and I finally learned how to defeat Jason! I also agree with your comments about LJN and this game in general. Definitely overlooked and LJN has made some fairly decent games and just gets the "hey let's all jump on the hate train" wrap. Subbed and liked and will definitely come back for more! :)
I have always loved this game. It had that great atmosphere of never knowing when Jason was going to jump you on the path. I agree that the titlescreen is totally epic. The cabin music still haunts me...

I bought one of those 500 on 1 systems just cause it had this game. 2 days later a friend showed up and said "i know u like vintage games...saw this and grabbed it"...gave me the original Friday the 13th. Classic game!
I'm glad you came out with this video because I don't know what those critics are saying but when I was a little kid back in the day playing this game alone at night it used to scare the shit out of me but looking back at these Graphics today it's kind of funny but I've never forgotten this game thanks for the video
This game terrified me as a kid. I always loved being scared by this game, but I was never able to figure out how to do much beyond stumble around and quickly get killed by Jason. My NES Classic has a date with Hakchii and I will be playing this with my little nephews for Halloween.
That was the coolest. I was born in 1978, so I grew up in the eighties with the NES, I used to love this game!!! Wish I had your tips playing it back then, it was tough. Some might think it was corny, but the other movie themed video game I really liked was Goonies 2.
Bro I watched this on my lunch break yesterday and decided to watch it again just now and I gotta say this is the best breakdown I've ever seen of this game and the fact that you really like it makes me enjoy it that much more .your uploads take longer than others but the detail and quality shine through keep up the awesome work bro .this makes me want to play right now
Thanks Marvin. I would love to post more frequently but I work on the videos when I can and i dont want to sacrifice quality for you so i take my time and do it right.
I love this game. I was born in 81 and I was young when it was released. But I rented it repeatedly but never completed it. After this video I'm definitely going to give it another try. LOL I always thought the sweater was key to beating it.
Loving the channel so far. Takes me back to the good old days when UA-cam gaming videos had so heart and soul to it instead of shitting out the same let’s play video 3-4 times a day.
This has to be the best video out there on this game! I have always liked this game ever since I was little playing it on the NES just adventuring around. It's great to see such a good breakdown on a game that for some reason has a bandwagon of people who put the game down. Awesome video!
My biggest memory was seeing this game on the shelf at Blockbuster Video. I remember the front cover made me want to rent it. I very well may have even rented it at one point, but without the internet or strategy guide I probably would of gave up pretty quickly and never considered renting it again. Now I am going home to try and beat Jason once and for all after using your tips. Thanks
I always just figured they made him those colors to display Jason in the "night light" since that's typically when he is seen most throughout his movie history. And the reason he stayed that way in the day time is because it was Nintendo and it was generic but got the point across lol. None the less, great research, theories and video in general. Awesome.
One of my favorite NES games. People always put it on a list for bad games, but I think this game was way ahead of its time honestly. A survival horror game way before that was even a thing. As a huge fan of the movies, I've spent no telling how many hours playing this game. Beaten it probably 50 times at least. It was one of the first games to let you play multiple characters, have a day and night cycle, and upgrade weapons while finding other supplies to survive like vitamins. Maybe the best part is it could legitimately make you jump. The fact they were bold enough to put kids getting killed in it back in 1989 was suprising too. This game is definitely in my top 10 nes games....its not zelda or metroid but if you take the time to really learn how to play it, its incredibly fun and one of the more unique games you can find for that time. I'm a fan in case you couldn't tell....lol. excellent video
This game was great! My cousins and I made this a summer staple when we got together at our family's cabins each year. Even now, it's a topic of discussion. I'm gonna try this strategy and finally beat this game...if just for the bragging rights.
had so much fun playing this game as a teen with my friends. we'd say he's a jogger in his track suit, an olympic swimmer in the lake, an Australian whacking you with his boomerang, and a dentist attacking you with his toothbrush.
I really enjoyed the game back in the day. I did it the hard way compared to your tips...but eventually beat Jason in the cabin on the third day. I enjoyed exploring the caves and woods, though it certainly takes many times getting lost, to learn how to navigate them. Many fond memories...especially, finally taking Jason down.
Even when I first saw the game I was really confused on why people hate it, however I just went along with them until I saw this video. Now I think this game is actually really good!
I was never good at the friday the 13th for the NES but I was finally able to beat this game thanks to the modern miracle of save states. it's a really fun game, way better than nightmare on elm street for NES anyway.
I really liked Nightmare on Elm Street. I think in a ton of way it is easily the better game...but as a die hard F13 fan, I will always hold Jason over Freddy, so it's F13 the game that gets the most acknowledgement from me...but that NoES game is really cool.
I'm going to be honest, I sucked at this game as a kid but that didn't stop me from enjoying it! Not having a manual or a guide for this game left me wandering around like wtf most the time frustrated, but I still remember the occasions where I would make progress and how satisfying it was to this day.
This was one of those “only new game for a long time” kind of games for me, if you’re an 80’s kid you know the deal. Whether it was good or bad, you had to master it because until the next birthday or Christmas, this was all you had! I was able to eventually beat it back then, but it wasn’t until the past ten or so years where I learned about how fast you could really clear this one. I clear it about every day lately, got it down to around 20 minutes.
What a great intro. I too loved the feeling of that out of town "local" video store. The aisles of VHS cassettes, posters, and if you were lucky snacks! (BBs does NOT count!) This game terrified me and still too holds a special place in my heart.
The game wasn't horrible, but the pathfinding was nightmarish in the cave and forest. If you never fouund out the path you listed in this video for the hidden cave, it's likely you'd never find it, or you'd get lost in the forest or cave with no way to reach the kids when the alarm is going off. For what it was, though, the game could be fun, and it was satisfying to take Jason down that third time.
Well played this game when it came out, had no clue what to do cause there wasn't any internet at those days....beated the game (don't ask me how, just had some luck i presume) in 8 hours. Wonderful video!
Love that game and Alien Syndrome for the NES. I also loved Operation Wolf, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (both arcade and alternate versions), The Hunt For Red October, Jackal, Excitebike, Dirty Harry, and Metal Gear.
I owned the game and really loved it. In South Africa, Toys R Us actually sold Famiclone games. The copy of this game that I owned didn’t even have a manual. Took quite a while for me to beat it.
I always found this game to be special, interesting and original! Good to see I'm not the only one! I know it's bizarre but I also really liked Jason's wacky, colorful design! It's so cartoony and unique that it became iconic and pretty referenced! It's just a shame that it's so damn hard and frustrating! For me it will always be an NES cult classic (and I didn't even like the Friday the 13th movies)!
To be honest, the game isn't that bad. I love me some Jason and Friday the 13th. There are worse pixelated nightmares to shriek about this Halloween. Like the Persona reference. Did you throw that in there for me? :P Keep up the good work. Remember me when you're famous! ;)
I recently did a Visual and musical cover of the main cabin theme . Check it out and tell me what you think ^_^ ua-cam.com/video/oBuKfhZ18S8/v-deo.html
Nobody I played this game with when I was a kid ever cared about Jason wearing purple overalls. It's not until we got older and played the game again did we start to question it. Now it's the one thing to point out every time someone makes a video.
I remember playing this game when I was younger and whenever Jason would pop out I'd freak out and lose lol never understood the gameplay until this video so thanks for the tips. Sure did bring back memories
This was a staple at my house. Ljn gets a bad rap for some of the best hidden gems. Friday the 13th and Jaws has very good game mechanics and play. I would love to see this generation of kids try to play these amd complain how "hard" they are. Knowing Atlus made this, just made this game even more amazing. Atlus and SNK were way way ahead of their time.
Good luck peeling them off of repetitive, micro transaction laden, bland, corporate approved shit to get them to try a game that requires a little thought or imagination. Fuck, I am old.
Jaws was a great game. There was some tough fights in that game. If you got caught in the shallow water area and had the battle where the only thing that spawned was mini-sharks and jellyfish you were in for a tough time!
i liked this game growing up too, although it used to piss me off not knowing what to do, i had no manual either. but i did discover a lot of things on my own, like where to find jasons moms head, etc.
I don't remember how i got my copy, i think maybe it was part of those 100-in-one cassettes? Not sure, but i do remember loving it and played it like crazy. This video is some great nostalgia, nice job dude. Now i just feel like playing this, like NOW! Happy Halloween!
Kind of an unrelated question, but what did you think of Shovel Knight? I was pleasantly surprised. Some other recommendation to try (though not for your channel) are Axiom Verge, Celeste, Slain Back From Hell, and Hallow Knight. All can be found on your Switch if you haven't tried them.
great points on part 3 inspiration but i personally think it was based off of part 6...only because part 6 is the only movie in the franchise with kids at the camp and counselors that are actually protecting them. like jason walking into the lake cabin and that little girl sees him watching her 😱
There's a pic in the manual that is clearly Part V (Roy), the opening screen is obviously Part IV, the Jason on the cover of the box is Part VII. I'd say the Jason in the game is almost certainly Part 3. Not only is his mask not damaged (Part 3 is the only time he is without axe mark) but now with that poster (which I had seen before but not really known it's origin) I think it is extremely likely to be Part 3.
Great video and explanation of this game. It scared the crap out of me as a kid ( I was 5 when it came out) and it was very confusing and didn't understand it.
I used to avoid fighting him in the cabins on day 3 and gave up for awhile. I used to actually run to other counselors to save them(before i knew you could simply press start a switch to whoever is being attacked) I couldn't land a hit because of his nonstop speed and taking damage everytime he moved in to attack. Then i figured out to properly dodge both strikes everytime. The trick is the timing. Dodging has a delay when you use it. When he comes at you, you wanna dodge sooner than you normally would on his first strike. Dodging sooner for the first strike gives you a chance to reset and immediately dodge his second attack. This really works if you choose to fight inside. Helped me finally defeat him.
The nostalgia is killing me lol. Great vid, i haven't played this game in maybe 20 years but i watched this until the end. I might pull out the old nes later today, probably not though I just got Red Dead Redemption 2
Can you make one of these for A Nightmare on Elm Street for the NES? It is another IMO very underrated horror game for the original NES that gets a bad rap. It had some pretty impressive aspects for it's day such as the ability to use the NES Four Score and have a fully co-op platforming horror/adventure game. Really cool stuff. This video is amazing and I really love what you are doing with these secrets and history videos. Much love, keep up the good work.
Be proud of yourself! This is such an amazing in-depth analysis! Loved the personal history with the game. LOVED the detective work! That HAS to explain the color of Jason!! I truly think you cracked the case. Also great guide on how to play. Thank you dude, this game is a gem
I actually tried google searching it, couldn’t find it.... can you by any chance provide a link... I’d love to download and play it for my students in school
Heres the link sorry. I got the name confused with another song in was thinking of choosing lol. The song is from the envato market but it's called 80s dark by airport music. heres the link audiojungle.net/item/80s-dark/22017569

I was young when i brought this game & i didn't fully understand this particular games mechanics. But after watching this excellent video content, i look at this game as being way better now - keep up with what you do because your real awesome dude.
It is a complicated game. Really ahead of it's time in complexity back then, but I enjoy it so much. I hate the bad reputation it has because I have nothing but fond memories of it. Thanks for the kind words too 😎
I still have my cartridge, I liked the game then and I still like it today. The soundtracks are so repetitive but nothing than you get bored to listen to. In my opinion Crissy is better than Mark, yes they have the same speed running and jump as high but she can throw weapons further and faster than Mark, Mark can row faster though. Laura is fast but her jumping sucks. Paul is just good for the boat so I always kept him close to the children's cabins. And yes Debbie and George are the worse.
Wow man. This video brought back memories of 8 year old me renting this game and purposely playing the game with all lights out at night. I was scared shitless and was mostly clueless, but it was awesome!
Notes about weapons in the cave can be collected in 2 of the rooms where Jason’s mother resides kinda like going back for the axe after the quick torch trick. If I recall they’re in the 2 more hidden rooms that are not the one room most people know that’s left when you first go in. You can go back and collect an additional machete and axe with for each counselor that gets the note for either every day if you really wanted to. I guess it’s good insurance in case you grab a knife by accidentally jumping into it while carrying a stronger weapon.
I know most people think that this game is bad, but I like it, I remember that the first time I've played it, when I saw Jason I got so scared that I never plyed it again as a kid lol, only when I grew up. Very good video, thanks for it.
ha, i agree, i played this alone and was genuinely scared by that legendary intro....anyway, your theory on purple jason is new and interesting, they DID take influence from part 7* for the cover art so take that for what u think its worth, nostalgia's high with this one great vid
I often defend this game, nice to hear people who like it too. I even liked, and beat, this game before I got into Friday the 13th. It was a good several years after this game came out that would eventually see the movies. I started watching because it was on TV and I stayed on the channel because of Thom Mathews in part 6 was also in Return of the Living Dead, which I loved. Then I figured I would watch it to learn more because of the video game I liked but never understood. Now I am the Jason freak of the family because of this game! I also played it at my childhood friend's house, during the good times before he got into drugs, which would eventually kill him. So it holds a special place in my heart.
Really well done! Props on standing apart and finding the value where others dismiss it readily. I have great memories of this game in the 80’s and 90’s, though it was hard and I wasn’t a fan of the zombies and birds. I think you covered most of it pretty well in this video.
First time viewer and new subscriber. You have given me a whole new appreciation for this game and now I really want to play it. When this game first came out I was still used to games like Super Mario Bros and Double Dragon so I was lost on the concept games like Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street. Gonna give these games another try.

GenerationGapGaming Who is the artist behind the 80’s themed music for this video?
All you have to do is light all the fireplaces to get the torch
Its called synthwave dark from the Envato Market man. I love this music!!!
@GenerationGapGaming, Just a quick question. When Jason appears inside the cabin, didn't that every freak you out? This game is very over rrated
I played this before on a rommed wii that had every single old fame icluding deja vu friday the 13th and many other 80s and 90s titles
It sadly broke and never booted up again and lived a good while from 2011-2015
I loved that rommed wii
To this day, whenever I play this game and I go to the house where Jason is at I always jump lol
This game used to give me nightmares as a kid.
That noise it makes when you find him?! Forget about it!! Scared the ever loving shit out of my 5 year old self.

Lee it was a scary game. When you turn a corner in the cabin and Jason pops out its no joke as a kid lol.

This was a fantastic video on this game!
Oh wow! Thanks so much man. I am truly honored. Thanks for taking time to watch and comment Pixel Dan!!!!

Great tips dude! I can tell you are a master at this game. Thanks for sharing.
Haven't played it in forever though, I couldn't tell you the patterns to beat Jason anymore! NES difficulty is real :)
Just wow dude. Amazing.
Yep once you get that torch Jason better look out Byron lol.
now I wanna play the game
@@EternalStanceAVGN was b*********** about the game. There's a learning curve but it's a pretty good game
@@Acanofalconpunch thanks for the reply. I just waited two years for someone to finally reply. But it was worth it
Man! Best video about this game ever! Finally, a lot of people never talk about ducking while throwing rocks
This game was so difficult for me as a kid.
You deserve more than 8,644 subscribers. Entertaining, easy to listen to, inoffensive, and you're informative. Good luck.
Thanks so much Big Daddy Beast. Your words keep me motivated for sure my friend!
I love this game so much. I have a brand new copy of it in my collection.
Yes!!! I have it complete in box as well but it's not brand new so I'm jealous of you lol. Really appreciate you taking time to comment!
A lot of zoomers hate this game.
Your comment is spot on man! That music is still amazing.

I bought one of those 500 on 1 systems just cause it had this game. 2 days later a friend showed up and said "i know u like vintage games...saw this and grabbed it"...gave me the original Friday the 13th. Classic game!
I remember playing this game back in the 89/1990, feels just like yesterday and I’m now 35.....lol
Same. And I'm 35 now too lol... Been beating this game since I was about 6yrs old.

That was some serious research!
Thanks David. It was a lot of research but I had a blast doing it man

Loving the channel so far. Takes me back to the good old days when UA-cam gaming videos had so heart and soul to it instead of shitting out the same let’s play video 3-4 times a day.
Finally someone does justice to one of the games i allways consodered a Hidden Gem! I never finished the game but allways enjoyed it a lot! Thanx! (Y)
You are most welcome Hector!!!
It's never too late, Hector.
@@brentjosephjohnson1702 with this nice guide may be i will soon! Thanx! :)
Do you know what hidden gem means, as this game was not hidden at all its well known. I love the game, but not hidden.
your story is so 80's....great work....Ljn was great back in the day, you know your history...my favorite subject...
This has to be the best video out there on this game! I have always liked this game ever since I was little playing it on the NES just adventuring around. It's great to see such a good breakdown on a game that for some reason has a bandwagon of people who put the game down. Awesome video!
Nick I really appreciate this comment. Really made my day buddy!
Thanks
I think this would of been a popular game if we had internet back then I remember wondering what to do
I completely agree man!
I always just figured they made him those colors to display Jason in the "night light" since that's typically when he is seen most throughout his movie history. And the reason he stayed that way in the day time is because it was Nintendo and it was generic but got the point across lol. None the less, great research, theories and video in general. Awesome.
AVGN: “Laughing Joking Numnuts.”
I'm here because it's Friday the 13th today.
This game was great! My cousins and I made this a summer staple when we got together at our family's cabins each year. Even now, it's a topic of discussion. I'm gonna try this strategy and finally beat this game...if just for the bragging rights.
I loved this game! Creepy and fun when I was a kid.
had so much fun playing this game as a teen with my friends. we'd say he's a jogger in his track suit, an olympic swimmer in the lake, an Australian whacking you with his boomerang, and a dentist attacking you with his toothbrush.
I really enjoyed this game when It came out. This and Nightmare on Elm Street were pretty awesome.
Duke they are both awesome games. I 100% agree. I like Friday better though.
Interesting fact: If you kill Jason as he kills you, the game will you give you a life bar back and let you win. It happened to me once.
You probably had a vitamin bottle in stock at the time.
Me too
@blake bishop He's not. It happens sometimes on this game
He's not lying.
@blake bishop childish......
Glad you were able to beat it man. Wonderful game that gets way to much hate for some reason.
Agree with ken on this. It's not really official with save states. Though I've used them so I'm not knocking you.
I remember my mom buying me this for my 11th birthday I absolutely love this game have a lot of nostalgia for it

That was a really good video very informative and knowledgeable.
Thanks so much Nicholas. Really glad you enjoyed it my friend.
What a great intro. I too loved the feeling of that out of town "local" video store. The aisles of VHS cassettes, posters, and if you were lucky snacks! (BBs does NOT count!) This game terrified me and still too holds a special place in my heart.
I'm currently playing it on emulator.
I appreciate you for bringing positive light to games that are blindly hated. Good job
Think I'ma break out my NES and play some Friday the 13th. =)
Do it Paul!!!!
You aint bout that life
Love that game and Alien Syndrome for the NES.
You are definitely not the only one my friend!!! cult classic for sure
Great game!!!
I bought this game at a discount shop when I was like 10 for pennies. I was never good at it but played it like crazy. Thanks for the great video.
Used the sweater and timing to kill him with a Knife.
Took three days, though.
3 days in the game and 3 days in real life. How did you not get someone to touch your game system.
@@retiredsnowbunnyhunterx5106 I died a lot.
But that was playing it for 8 hours a day, three days in a row

Excellent video! This is the first game I ever beat on the NES and is still a favorite of mine for that system.
To be honest, the game isn't that bad. I love me some Jason and Friday the 13th. There are worse pixelated nightmares to shriek about this Halloween.
Like the Persona reference. Did you throw that in there for me? :P
Keep up the good work. Remember me when you're famous! ;)
Yeah this game gets too much hate. I love it too. I figured you would enjoy the Persona reference.

Nobody I played this game with when I was a kid ever cared about Jason wearing purple overalls. It's not until we got older and played the game again did we start to question it. Now it's the one thing to point out every time someone makes a video.
Blame James. He influenced us more than we will ever admit.
You got that right little fox. But I bet they'll just leave after a few seconds...
Loved jaws
Jaws is one of my favorites too!
When I had this game it took me a few days to figure out how to actually play it. The first time I saw Jason I nearly dropped my controller. 🤣🤣🤣
I feel ya 100%. Jason scared the crap outta me in that cabin for the first time.
I don't remember how i got my copy, i think maybe it was part of those 100-in-one cassettes? Not sure, but i do remember loving it and played it like crazy. This video is some great nostalgia, nice job dude. Now i just feel like playing this, like NOW! Happy Halloween!
This game always frustrated me because it didn't feel like a bad game, it felt like a decent game I couldn't get a grasp on.
I feel the same way, I just couldn’t quite figure it out.
Love your genuine enthusiasm for these old games. Very well put together videos. Keep it up!
Never played this game. I'll have to try it at some point.
Yeah John you gotta try it. A cult NES classic for sure that gets some unneccesary hate.
I will try to find a copy. I loved Jaws! I believe that was also made by the same company if I'm not mistaken.
It's made by LJN too yes. You should be able to find a copy. I think it's still a decently priced game.
I love Shovel Knight. I did a final boss Friday video on our channel when I beat the enchantress. Great game man!
I can finish this game. A good tip is to run into the woods asap during the day and jump around. You can get a ton of medicine quickly.
great points on part 3 inspiration but i personally think it was based off of part 6...only because part 6 is the only movie in the franchise with kids at the camp and counselors that are actually protecting them. like jason walking into the lake cabin and that little girl sees him watching her 😱
There's a pic in the manual that is clearly Part V (Roy), the opening screen is obviously Part IV, the Jason on the cover of the box is Part VII. I'd say the Jason in the game is almost certainly Part 3. Not only is his mask not damaged (Part 3 is the only time he is without axe mark) but now with that poster (which I had seen before but not really known it's origin) I think it is extremely likely to be Part 3.
@@baronterror Agreed..you know your friday the 13th franchise bro 👊
Great video and explanation of this game. It scared the crap out of me as a kid ( I was 5 when it came out) and it was very confusing and didn't understand it.
Karate kid was a fun game. It was one of the few games with a decent multiplayer for NES. Atlus also made Trauma Center: which was a great DS game.
Dude yes. Trauma Center was a blast!!! Hope you enjoyed the video!!!
Helped me finally defeat him.
some hate on this game just because it's ljn but this game was actually fun.
I 100% agree man!!!
The nostalgia is killing me lol. Great vid, i haven't played this game in maybe 20 years but i watched this until the end. I might pull out the old nes later today, probably not though I just got Red Dead Redemption 2
love the detail
Thanks Tommy. I wanna bring great quality to our videos for you all. Happy you enjoy it!
This is one of my favorite games for the NES also the adventures of Bayou Billy.
I only rented Bayou Billy once and I need to try to find a copy again. Hope you enjoyed the video man!!
Man give me your mailing address and I'll mail u a copy of Bayou Billy. Its easily one of the hardest games on nes.
Be proud of yourself! This is such an amazing in-depth analysis! Loved the personal history with the game. LOVED the detective work! That HAS to explain the color of Jason!! I truly think you cracked the case. Also great guide on how to play. Thank you dude, this game is a gem

OMG dude I'm 33 and I loved this game I love OG games man do you play the friday the 13th game for ps4
god im 33 as well. i live in vegas. i believe u do too. i loved this game and never got passed day one. never knew of days 2 and 3

Very good video, thanks for it.
i'll play this game for my halloween special tomorrow night
ha, i agree, i played this alone and was genuinely scared by that legendary intro....anyway, your theory on purple jason is new and interesting, they DID take influence from part 7* for the cover art so take that for what u think its worth, nostalgia's high with this one great vid
I would agree with you on that this game is far ahead of its time. This is the only nes game that got me startled playing.
