- Ever since I bought my 2004 Terminator Cobra for $30,000 cash I've always wondered, "was it truly worth it?" Well, I think it was to a certain extent but I definitely think making changes in the future is an option! Maybe Gen3?

That is one of those cars I think you should keep. There will always be more faster and interesting mustangs coming out in the future or ones you could build. However, their is only one 2004 Cobra in black with your name on it.

Derek, you own a classic Mustang. Let's just call it now; the 2003-2004 Mustang SVT Cobra is a classic Mustang. $30,000 is the typical price for that beauty. People lose interest in the "newness" of any car because they have short attention spans. Cold hard truth. Definitely keep the Cobra; hell it's your dream car! But, if you gotta keep selling and buying to keep the channel up, do it. Do what's best for your income and the channel.
If it really was his dream car, he would be making a video basically testing everyone else’s opinion on it. It’s only his opinion that matters, so it kills me to see this guy searching so much.

What's the point in building something with alot of power if you hardly ever even use it.. everybody has a boring but fast 10 speed they're dime a dozen and way overdone imo. Everybody has one. Both of these cars are way cooler and more unique than a dime a dozen new gt everyone and their mamma has. People just always think they need the latest and greatest gotta keep up with the Jones so to speak. He'd get alot more content out of both these cars if he'd actually use them as intended.

But he needs to get a little less valuable car (like a cheaper new edge and build a motor and go wild) and do some wild stuff to make the content more interesting in my opinion
Derek, you have a rare legend of a car on your hand. Like a literal legend in the car world. The value of these cars are only going to go up. I’d say keep the Cobra man, and this is coming from someone who has a Coyote. I’d say if you did sell this car, you will miss it, probably more than other Mustangs you’ve had, especially if (when) the prices keep going up. You have a gem, hold on to her!

The 03-04 Cobra is a TRUE ICON. Dont feel pressured to move it for fresh content. Many of us LOVE content on these!!! Keep it up!!!!!
So true… when you start getting multiple cars it’s hard to get rid of them too lol. I have a 12 Roush and a 17 GTCS and I’ve debated getting rid of the 12 for a GT350. I say keep the cobra those cars are getting harder and harder to find in that condition. I’d get rid of blucifer before that car lol. That car right there in black was my dream car back in the day

Nice to see a coyote owner who isn't an elitist. Many of the turn their noses up at older cobras even terminators because they think their coyote is so superior the older one isn't even worth having lol. Not a shot at coyotes I love them but it's just some of these owners who annoy me. I have an 07 gt500 I love it always wanted a terminator too but found a steal in the gt500 so I got it because it's a very similar car and also very good. The coyote guys act superior to shelbys too especially 07-09. Idk any people just can't be car guys and appreciate all of them especially ford's if they're supposedly a Ford person.
The Terminator is a legend. You got your Terminator for a steal. The one you have is a very clean example. I'd say keep it, it will hold its value much better than a dime a dozen S550 5.0.
That’s not just any new edge that is the car that almost put alot of companies out of business because nothing could compare when the terminators came out for years and they can still hang with the new school stuff almost anyone who likes mustangs and know them knows the terminator

@@aceburgers8801 My buddy as a Whipple 10 speed basically FBO with a borla exhaust definitely a crazy car. Everyone has a preference. Personally I live in an area that has a lot of traffic and recently had a hand/arm surgery so I kinda prefer the auto route. Would drive stick if I could but sometimes auto is nice bc of the traffic! Even with Motec + an auto can be even crazier on the track!
I think content demand would grow for it if you did more with it on the street, maybe at the track etc. That’s where 03/04 cobras earned their reputation 15 years ago. It already makes good power and is capable of more safely. And honestly I’m fine with the Coyote hitting the road and replacing it with a newer 5.0 platform

Agreed I mean zero quarter mile stuff, there’s a couple big brake kits, subframes etc to make it handle do a few timed events or modded vs a 550 chassis would be cool
Keep it, you won't regret it. Sell it and you WILL regret it. Take my word for it. I sold a 2004 Mach 1 with 8,000 miles on back in 2008, and I still regret it.
Cobra is just iconic man. It’s been your dream car, and now you have it! Blucifer is your baby, but you might be better off selling that car to upgrade to a 10 speed Gen 3. That new edge is just sick as hell man 🔥🔥
There is a raw feeling of the Termi that is isn’t easily replaced. Yes the new S550’s are amazing, I have a 2018 GT PP1, 6 speed with Magnaride but I still break a neck looking at Termi’s

Took my 03 Terminator to a car show last week sure there was a lot of really nice Mustangs But my Cobra puts a smile on my face everytime and still gets attention
My dream car is a 03 SB. I honestly couldn't spend 30k plus on a 20 year old car. So I bought a brand new 21 gt 10sp auto pretty much fully loaded with a warranty. Definitely happy with my decision

You basically own a piece of automotive history/ford history right now with the Cobra. I'd suggest part ways with one of yr other projects instead and bring in something else new, like the new 10 speeds or even like a gt350 do some track videos or strip videos change it up a bit keep the 🔥 going!!
Ok here I go. Terminator is an icon. Only sell/trade for (my opinion) 13-14 gt500 or 18+gt350. Don’t do the 10 spd sissy stuff, get a manual. Or get another 5.0…. But twin turbo. Love your vids.. stay safe bro
I was thinking about this early. Actually talking to a friend about you. We came to this conclusion. You have a rare car in the Terminator. We personally would never sell it. No one will take care of it like you will. It would be wrecked by someone if you let it go. Secondly, you have a rare color in the 5.0. Grabber blue. You could dump that for a 2014 gt500. That’s what we would do. But the most important thing we came to. My friend and I don’t believe UA-cam is a long term thing. It’s time to think even bigger than just UA-cam. But, at the same time, if you want to stay relevant, you keep your 5.0 and Terminator and bring in something completely different to the channel. You have the Corvette. Do you bring in a Camaro? Do you bring in a Scatoack? Maybe you bring in a Supra? Go the JDM route. The possibilities are endless if you allow yourself to branch out and not stay stuck in that American Muscle box. Whatever you do, I watch all your videos so it would be dope to see. Hit the lotto, become a billionaire and then you can bring in and do whatever the heck you want on the DBP channel.
I personally think you gatta branch out of UA-cam and make money elsewhere that way you won’t have to give up the 5.0 and Terminator.
I'm not sure if you still have the cobra or not,I'm 56 years old,I had a black gold pined stripped 79 Trans am,i was 18 when I was 19 I traded it off,I've had some beautiful cars in my time but if I could go back,I'd still have that car today,I was stupid,lol you seem to be a hard working young man,that car 15 years from now will go 70,000 easy,it's how the world works,the car is rare right now it's a rare car,hold on to it you will be like me old and wishing that one thing that was very wrong.thank you for sharing with us,take care friend.

Dude I’ve been happy as a clam with my 02 GT 2V for over three years now and it doesn’t even put down much power. You have to watch how much you chase the top of the mountain. $30,000 for that car is a ton of money depending on who you ask. But if your happy with it and completely understand the significance of that car in the time and place it was new then it’s worth every penny. Now my dream mustang is the 2000 SVT Cobra R being I’m 38 and was a teenager when these cars were new. That’s my pinnacle. Love the content keep it up bro. 😊
I have an 04 GT Anniversary addition.... don't think I'll ever part with it ... 18 years with it and when I open the garage door and see it .. my heart still skips a beat ..... it's looks vintage setting next to the wife's 2021 GT

Derek, If I was in your shoes I would keep the Terminator Cobra just because in the long run you could get possibly 2-3 times the money you paid for it and honestly I like the Terminator Cobra more than Blucifer.
Funny how things change and believe me when you have your dream car it goes away quickly, but believe me that car is an iconic car. Will continue to up in value.
If you’re gonna sell a car, sell the Gen 1 and get the brand new 5.0 chassis that’s coming. You’d be able to capitalize on that big opportunity.

There's alot of you tubers out there thriving that don't have to buy a new car every 3 months. They build, race, and enjoy the old cars they have. There's no use to boast about buying 30k dollar 700hp car if you can't beat on it because you're worried about tearing it up. You should have bought a stock cobra. Or took the money you made from selling the fox and made blue into the track car like you had planned. Why buy a s550 for coyote content? You have a 700 hp coyote you can make content with. Take it to Virginia motorsports Park and see what it can do. That will bring you views.
I'm with you bro. He keeps thinking he has to keep buying new cars to keep content going and views up when in reality if he'd just use the cars he has as they were built for that would keep content going and views up. People get tired of seeing tailight and wheel swaps which is the majority of what he's been doing of late. He built the coyote for over 700 horse and has barely used it. It makes no sense to me. He is lost in this train of thought that says you gotta keep getting newer stuff for views and that isnt true. There are plenty of things left to do on both cars and plenty of content to be had without changing out either of then. Race the 5.0 at the track. Race the cobra at the track. They're tough cars made to run its already modified so idk why he's worried about "future value" anyways. Mod the damn things and run them that's what they were made for and that is what we all wanna see. Plenty of newer mustang channels to watch if that is what ya wanna see. We wanna see THESE cars which is why we're here. We just wanna see THESE cars being used.
Come on man that was your dream car, it's in my top 5 of cars I want to own. I say keep it do subtle mods try different wheel combos carbon hood etc, keep all the factory stuff don't sell any of it. Make some racing context with the cobra!! Drag strip, Mexico action, all that we’d never get tired of that and it would pull in a lot of new viewers. Also eventually going to a new 3.0 whipple, t56 magnum, stuff like that mod it so viewers stay interested you know. Everyone’s seen a 10 speed. I’m one of the die hard viewers and I’ll watch/ support no matter what but a 10 speed is just boring lol
Everyone and their mother has a 10 Speed, I tend to diss the Cobras time to time cause of the crappy build quality but if you’re going to trade it for anything it should be a Boss 302, or a GT350.
You hit the nail on the head the 10 speeds are way overdone. The cobras are legendary and it isn't for their interior. They have a stout driveline and he needs to use his as intended. Both of them need to be ran more street and track. We wanna see what they can do.
@@midnight347 Cobra drivetrain was crazy in its time, and the exterior looks still hold up well. The only issue I have with the is the interior/build quality and since I’m only able to have 1 can financially, I wanted a car that does it all which is why I got a Gen 2 Premium Coyote car.
I'm a die hard mustang fan with a new edge of my own, but recently the e92 M3 has caught my eye. You can pick one up for around 25k. I never thought Id get a European car, but the high revving v8 combined with the DCT and wide fenders, id love to see one on the channel.
I don't think he wants to replace rod bearings every 50k or less. I might buy one as my next but, only with a manual. Most aren't going to replaced rod bearings every so often.

Definitely keep the cobra. I’m biased cause I love the new edge styling already. But if i had to pick and choose I’d drop blucifer and get the 10 speed. Plus if you wanted to have more s197 content you can always film your buddies cars. Like you said you found 2 black terminators in a search with more miles. You can search for a 10 speed and you’ll be finding thousands of them.

@@tune1398 not in the slightest reliable... it's a horizontal engine.. engines arnt ment to be sideways. Because of headgaskets valve train etc. Better off getting a new edge mustang if you want reliability.

The actual finance of it: You can't really get a 10 speed for $35k now unless it has a considerable amount of miles. I sold my 2019 Ecoboost for 26k to carmax. Brand new 10 speeds are $50k even without a markup. To me, the S550 feels heavy compared to its predacessors. Granted, again, I had an Ecoboost but my GT new edge feels much more nimble and like a muscle car. I personally like seeing different stuff. I was happy to find a channel that had a New Edge in this day and age that wasn't just sitting or already a super built car for the track. But I understand your issue from a business standpoint. UA-cam has always felt too fickle for me to be a business move.

Me and my pops shared his 03 anniversary vert… got it for 20k out the door in 2016… she’s no longer with us but pops moved up to a 750i M(X) and he still catches a hissy fit Everytime he see’s one cuz he says it’s a irreplaceable feeling, even tho it’s an old creaky 99 based interior
As long a you can make your money back or more is never a bad investment. That goes for anything, enjoy it while you have it.
personally i’d keep the Cobra for the long run, i would sell Blucifer and invest in a boosted 10 speed

It is an icon and a new staple/turning point for your channel. I’ve been a sub since 20,000 and had loved the channel because of blue 2V.
Cycle the coyote and upgrade to the 10 speed, or a new Mach1, heck that GT350 even. The reason I️ watch the channel is against what the norm is. I️ love seeing a consistent build grow from nothing to something. But it’s always sad seeing a project go.
You 9 to grinded for the cobra, don’t sell it. Grind to keep it. Grind to flip the 2014 and update it, new sponsors, old sponsors used to upgrade a new whip.

From Australia, just purchased a 2002 Cobra convertible, 35000 km, black, four valve. In Australia, this car is fully Tickford, enhanced, from suspension up. Love the car, not the fastest Mustang, but fabulous to drive. Turns heads every time I drive it. Only 50 of these came to Australia in 2002, it has been a show car since.
I make almost $40 a hour, and anyone who makes that knows you can afford a 20 year old cobra. So sorry Derek, you’re wrong at saying 40 hours can’t get you a old cobra. I’m working Good Friday and that’s triple time, $100+ dollars an hour. There is a lot of people out there that make that kind of money so you can’t really say you have to work/do multiple jobs to afford a old cobra like this. Just my .02

Keep the cobra man … Bluecifer is a great car and all but that car will never have the value of a terminator cobra. It’s gonna be hard but I know once you get into a 10 speed you won’t look back
honestly, i would keep the termi cause you always said how it was one of you dream cars. If anything i would sell blucifer and get a gt350r or a mach 1 if you want the 10 speed. Blucifer as a build is pretty much done and you can start something new.
Dreams change. Nostalgia will have you spending stupid money on things that don’t fulfill you. At the end of the day once you own one new edge you’ve owned them all.
Dude same thing happens to me, my 3v just sits in my garage sometimes and when I don’t drive it for awhile I’m like why the hell did I buy this thing man I need to sell it and then as soon as I pull that baby out of my garage my appreciation and love for it just instantly comes back and I’m like why did I question this car and want to sell it I’m so stupid 😂

I personally love the car, I'm here in Maryland and love the local content. I just spent 18k on an 02 harley davidson f150 and felt the same way. But everytime the supercharger whine Its worth every penny. Don't sell the car its Iconic but if you must for the channel go ahead.
We have a 98 Mustang Cobra SVT, THAT HAD SAT FOR 10 YEARS. We picked it up for $8k and put $6k into wheels and tires, going through the engine and interior. It looks fantastic. It’s my wife’s car, she thinks. It’s the Lasor red color with the Tan top and interior, did I say it was a convertible? When driving we get the stares and comments that makes it all worth it , but I have a large two car garage attached to the house. It currents fits my Golf Cart, the Cobra and my Mercedes SL 500. My Cadillac XT5 sits in driveway and I am not happy. So one car goes….which one? Whatever you guessed, I gave up my SL 500. The Mustang we will keep til a 2004 Cobra that gets my attention. So the little old lady from the beach drives the Cobra, when I am not. 73 years old and love the Stang…………
The mustang cobra from 2003-2004 somehow have been able to hold their value over years, especially if they're well taken care of.
The key is the little snake on the side and the SVT badging, the people who grew up idolizing SVT stuff are now getting to the age they can buy them and their value is increasing.
Honestly gotta stop letting sentimental value stop your growth. With youtube you gotta keep moving can’t stay in one place too long. But also this is just friendly criticism I’m one of the loyalists that watches every video. I feel like alot of the videos are very repetitive even when you do get a new car it’s usually always the same set of videos all in a row head lights tail lights exhaust tune. You’ve said a thousand times your gonna go to the drag strip and it never happens alot of empty promises and I’m sure it’s not meant but when people are disappointed over and over they don’t stay loyal. I like the content no matter what and have watched since the building blue series. I remember years ago you were constantly going out with your camera and ronin I believe it was called? Getting quality videographer level shots of your cars. I do feel like most of the content now adays is just stuff like this talking to the camera and it’s not a bad thing but it’s also not gonna bring in new people or that group of subscribers that aren’t loyalists. I see you get something new and then lose alot of your enthusiasm fast because the views aren’t there I almost feel like I can feel your disappointment through the screen ya know? there is nothing “special” about the new 10 speeds. don’t get me wrong, they’re amazing platforms and i do see the appeal. but a terminator is freaking legendary and there is that “special” factor to them, even if they do have some issues since they are becoming older cars now. lots of people have 10 speeds and coyote cars in general, whereas not nearly as many have a terminator

Derek considering u have two audiences, which is new edge fans like myself, and the coyote fans, I’m here much more for the cobra content than I am blucifer, and Ik u love blucifer but if u were to get a 10r80 I would swap up blucifer, u need to have one of each to keep the fan base happy
But the cobra has to stay forever, this is the dream, it should never leave, and u can always create new content, such as a different blower🤷🏻♂️
If it were mine, I’d trade for a 10 speed. Newer platform with a lot of aftermarket support and cheaper to make fast. I feel like Terminators are for those who don’t care about racing, and simply want to hold onto them while they appreciate more.
The terminator is already ready to go fast minus a few things though. He's going to spend ALOT more boosting an S550 than where this car is already setup at. People want to drive autos these days for drag racing, but I don't see Derek drag racing he just does highway pulls like most of us do. Those who drive manual will race these cars, but like you said there are collectors that want them as well to keep in a garage bubble it's whole life. *Edit. I can't speak for what he wants though. Maybe he wants to start drag racing idk

I would think it'd be smarter to sell Blucifer and use that money to buy an S550 if it's just for newer car content. It seems like the Cobra would be something to keep since it's not content that as many people can make. It made a lot more sense to replace a New Edge with a better, more rare New Edge. But since I don't make youtube videos I could be completely wrong on that. But I also think to be happy you can't make all decisions based on money. So the Cobra making you happy is important.
I say keep the cobra man, the right ppl will watch the fake ones wont. Its a classic, real car enthusiasts recognize real cars. This car imo changed the game up and i wouldnt get rid of it but to each its own will continue watching regardless 🔥
Being completely honest I'd trade the s197 only because like you said the termi is an investment and a dream car. And the 5.0 are a dime a dozen you can easily do a 10 speed build and sell that for a gt350 and keep growing the Chanel
KEEP THE COBRA
Just focus on the content, lots of UA-camrs out there that change cars like we change underwear and it isn't helping their channel at all. Good content and the personality of the creator will always be what wins the day. Besides that, a lot UA-cam channels that are similar in size to yours are struggling to get views so maybe the UA-cam bubble has burst.🤷♂️

I’d toss on the matching “deep” dish fronts so all the wheels match. I think what throws off the look is the oem fronts, spokes are thicker as opposed to the aftermarket ones. It’s a great looking car nonetheless 👍

When I look at other channels especially car channels and I see thier growth. I can see why. They don't stay with one platform or brand of car. I don't know how you are with other car brands but widening your view to other cars could make you grow as well. Getting that corvette for your fiancé was a good start already. I have owned my newedge now for 4 years and I wanted to try something totally different. I could've went with a newer mustang and I was planing to but the I looked into other options (and I know this is not for everyone) but I went with a Kia Stinger. No it's not faster than a s550 mustang "yet". But I can get it to that point, be different than others, and enjoy working on it while having a car that is rather less known and most people don't even know what it is.
100%. i think this is the biggest deal. this channel is 99% mustang content. I own a mustang and I love them but he's gotta switch it up. I think a jdm car would be sweet.

I would keep the cobra. There’s not many people making content w a cobra, whereas a ton of people have 10spd gen3 coyotes and make content with them. Plus the cobra was your dream car, you made it. Also don’t sell blucifer either

When spending jing for a classic car you have to go with the attitude of spending that much doesn’t break your bank or hurt your life plan ! If you can enjoy your toys than put that joy out there . And keep it in a wrapper and drive it when u want Not because you think you have to.
There are going to be opportunities that you are going to come across that are going to be amazing! And if buying the Cobra is hurting your plans in anyway then Move on . It’s Money that you cannot think about and the Car is amazing. I hope this helps you digest the act of spending money that you should NOT sweat .✌🏻

I had a 98gt. Loved it. Sold it. Finally able to get a saleen 2001. Please keep it, drive it, enjoy it. Every time my supercharger boost up I smile. Worth more than 30000 dollars
Just for reference. The 40th anniversary packaged gt and, v6 had the cobra mirrors. No not all 04s are true 40th cars.
KEEP IT!!! Save your money then buy something newer to add to the collection... An 03 DSG Cobra is on my bucket list no matter what the cost... The Terminator is an iconic car that will only go up in value over the next 20 years. It's not just a regular new edge.

Which one do you enjoy driving more? I'm biased with a 2014 coyote , and I'm sure Blucifer does everything better. I wouldn't sell Medusa I would put it in storage, and be content knowing that its mine, its safe and when I get the urge I can take it for a rip.
Its the same thing when older guys say a 69 Cobra jet mustang cost 100k . They are antiquated but look good.
I’d keep it bro. I’d just make some good videos with it. Like doing some runs with it seeing how it does against 392’s other 5.0’s newer 5.0’s hellcat’s stuff like that. But keep it for sure. That car is legendary. That’s the Hellcat from its time.

I have the black and chrome cobra deep dish just like yours, I bought them in 2012. Still love them!!! Dvd indash with a drilled back up camera. Clear corner headlights led everything from Amazon. Led Headlights, fogs, dome light, and tail lights. I love being able to see my 2 year old son in the back seat screaming RACE CAR DADDY!!! And grinning from ear to ear! He’s about to be 3.

The Biggest and Best and rarest thing the 03-04 Cobras got were the Forged Malhe and Manley pistons and Rods and forged crank with a blower was like a $10,000 upgrade over the previous Cobra! And No one was Forging their rotating assembly…. Mustangs were getting beat down by the Camaro’s and Transam’s until they unleashed these! I had a sweet SLP Firehawk with NOS was killing everything and this Red 04 came and spanked me while spinning tires passed me! I made him pull over and seen the car I had to one day have! And did a black 03, now I have a 10 black GT500 800hp.

In my personal experience I had a 03 mineral grey cobra w/ 600hp+ and it was always a dream to have it but I didn’t keep it because I could never truly enjoy it without the worry of something big breaking and it end up being a huge financial burden
