Thank You! I also have feeding stations for the birds that the cats and other critters cannot reach. That way all of the critters have a safe place to grab a meal!
You are so attentive and mindful of the cats. You have done a wonderful safe and comfy play and rest area for them. The cats are adorable, their beautiful eyes follow you so lovingly. Thank you for your beautiful, heartwarming video.
Thank you for this excellent video! I really appreciate you sharing your experience and design, especially all the details and dimensions. We have four feral kittens who have been living in the garage. That's great when we can be here to open/close it, but they need a place they can live outside that's safe from the local critters (and we have a lot of them). Our cat house will be on the porch, for protection from sun and rain, but still needs most of what you discussed. Thank you again!
What an ingenious way to construct a raccoon-proof tower using various components! I appreciate the fact that you used and built everything and still managed to explain each step clearly. I was curious about how the cats would be able to get in, and I'm glad I waited until the end to find out that they can indeed do so with quite a leap!
This is an amazing effort for these cuties, and a novel approach to all of the feeders I've seen previously! Thank you so much for sharing this is such incredible detail 🙏💗
I built an enclosed cat-io (cat patio) under our deck. There are multiple shelters under there and I keep fresh straw in all of them. They also have other fully insulated shelters that I re-insulate and re-seal every year.
Very interesting. We will be rebuilding our feral cat feeding & whatever zone soon you have some great ideas. We are plagued with Raccoons & rats getting into the cat food. The squirrels are well fed during the day so aren’t a problem. The rats are burrowed all over beneath our duck and chicken coops and decks - a MAJOR problem there and in the gardens. Within a few days, they show up to decimate anything new. (Southern New Hampshire)
We used hardware cloth from the base of the chicken coop buried a foot underground then L'd out about a foot to keep the rats from getting under the coup.
Very nice setup! I have a couple questions. Why not make the platform wider so jumping over from the tower is easier. Plus it would give everyone a ledge to lay on. Also, do you cover up the raised area, where air comes in around the feet of the enclosure, and add a flap to the door in the winter?
I was using the leftover wood planks that I had from another project, so I made it work the best that I could. I did not cover the gap along the bottom because I wanted the air flow. I also did not add a door in the winter since they have MANY cozy shelters all over the Critter Village.
Thank you so much for posting this I too had one built not as nice as yours but I can’t get the feral cats to go up it I did a little launching pad and then the raccoons were able to get up at how far away is your cat tree to the feeding platform?
Is the flashing necessary since you added the post cover? I was thinking of using a metal pipe with no flashing. Do you think the raccoons and possums would climb a metal pole? I don’t care for the look that the flashing.
You could give it a try without the skirt if you like. Let me know how it works for you! Squirrels and raccoons and other critters were able to climb the white post cover (I only had it there for looks mostly) so they could get to the underneath of the platform and then claw/climb their way to the under-edge and over onto the top of the platform, so I implemented the skirt for my specifics needs. I would love to see what you come up with!
If the kittens jump from the cat tower to the feeding station, won't the possums and raccoons juml to the feeding station, too? I just remembered.......I don't think raccoons and possums can jump very far! I think! I answered my own question! God Bless! Beautiful area!
I have a video that shows that the raccoons and opossum won't / cannot make the jump. But trust me, they absolutely get enough food from the other feeders in the Critter Village!

The opossums and raccoons get PLENTY of food with the other feeding options in my Critter Village! But they were eating ALL of the catfood, so I made this private cat feeder so that the kitties had a chance to eat without having to fight the other critters for a meal.
They are very fortunate you bought the house and let them stay. Many humans would have tried to get rid of them. Poor kitties dont ask for much. ❤❤❤
Very nice job and the yard is a piece of heaven for the cats.
awesome small project Idea for the homestead ill definitely be sharing and building one of these well dun lady
Good job. That's thinking outside the cat box. 🙂
Amazing! Thank you for building these feeding/safe stations for the cats. Brilliant!

Very creative - i like it!

It’s wonderful! I just hope you also build a winter shelter for them too. As this one would be extremely cold to stay in. Awesome work!

@@angelapearl13 that’s super awesome!
Great job. Interesting video. It seems you’ve thought of everything. I’m amazed the kittens can jump 5 ft. Kind regards from UK 💖
Great Job AG!!!
I love this!! Thanks, for the video & dimensions. I’ll Be, building one today. 😃

I had a raccoon when i was a kid in 70s. Nothing is Raccoon proof 😂
Ha! My cousins had some foster baby raccoons when we were kids (in the 80s) and they were adorable but they were rambunctious!
Awesome

Oh, I’m sorry I just heard you say the distance
How wide is the base you made to keep it stable?
Same dimensions of the platform, but I also covered it in heavy rocks to stabilize it.
Do you know who makes that little house?
I do not know. I got it from Facebook Marketplace for super cheap!
How about a little heat

SO HIGH ?
It is high enough that the other critters cannot get up there to eat the food or attack the cats. And they like the perch!
Wow your cat looks exactly like mine why not feed the opossums and raccoons too I would 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 they have babies too feed too 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡👎👎👎👎👎
