This pattern makes me want to try my 1st ever granny square blanket. I'm a self taught with over 10yrs of experience crochetting and granny squares really scare me, wrll the joining them together part. You surely make it look so amazingly doable. Thank you for a great video
Please don't be scared. Granny squares are one of the easiest things to make. You will be fine & do a good job. Granny sqs. are what I crochet to relax. You'll love them.🧶💕☺️
It looks like you make your joining slip stitch into the first DC, bypassing the actual chain (rather than into the top of the chain). I’d love to see a tutorial or a slower explanation of that. Your way looks so much neater.
This was a great tutorial! I made more white squares than colored squares so the pattern was a little more random and then added a scalloped edge on the border to make it a wavy look. Thanks so much!!!
I just finished this blanket. Here are a few take aways . . . First, I would not describe the level as beginner. I would say it is closer to advanced beginner. Thank goodness for You Tube, i.e. magic ring, attaching squares with invisible stitch, etc. Also, the yarns suggested in this pattern were hard find both in store and on line. Persevered and did finish my blanket.
Can i ask, how did you join the squares at the intersection? i dont know to join the ch2 stitches as you sew them horizontally or wait and join all four chain 2 stitches as you sew the squares vertically? confusing 😮
@@nicoleh.112 so I had this issue too and I found some videos of how to join the corners! It’s hard to explain through a comment but search for videos for joining corners of granny squares and that will help :)
I have already started making it. Pattern is simple and overall process looks so addictive. Can't wait to see the finished product. Thanks a lot for this!!
I absolutely loved this blanket! The yarn and pattern are luscious. I was so inspired that I included your project in a roundup post on my website about beginner crochet projects. Thanks for sharing your skills with the community! Keep up the fantastic work. 😊
I'm making one but a different flavor! my son designed it with me, plum and lime green checkerboard, with a dark green border. 💚 so exicted to be making a blanket for him!
I got your pattern and the chunky yarn!!!! I think I can do this !!!! Such a good video going over the stitches and pattern....plus tips along the way. Thank you
I really love this blanket pattern. I always use bernat yarn to make warm blankets for my family. You’re so smart and talented. Thank you for sharing your ideas.
I am so confused by these colours! This is a beautiful blanket and when I saw this blanket on instagram I fell in love with it. However, when I went to buy the yarn, I noticed that the colours that you said you used do not match the colours in your photos and videos. For example, you said that you used the colour sea foam, but the only Bernat Blanket sea foam I could find was the Baby Bernat Blanket and it is green, not blue. Can you please add the colour codes for the yarn that you used? Did you apply a filter to the photos and videos of this blanket? Thank you!
I’m making it, I think I will have to wash it and wet stretch it after as it is a bit stuffed. Thank you for the beautiful pattern and your video. The joining does not come easy for me though 😅
I love this pattern! As a beginner I’m not needing to refer back to the pattern or video constantly like anything else I’ve made so far lol😅 I’m having an issue with the chenille yarn sticking to my hook though. I tried a plastic hook and metal. It’s like it jerks with each movement thus hurting my wrist. I wonder if it’s my technique or the yarn 🤔
Making the squares was easy with the video tutorial and instructions on the blog. I have all the squares prepared, and I am struggling to piece it all together to form a blanket. I wish there was more instruction on how to piece the squares together and, more specifically, how to make the corners where 4 corners meet look clean like the finished blanket shown. Can you use the invisible seam method to piece all the rows together, then all the columns together, and at the very end do the same style invisible seam where the four corners of the squares meet or does it have to be performed simultaneously?
Please make another blanket tutorial of this pattern using these squares and granny squares in diferente colors and also how to join the squares and make the border
I love this blanket, you only have 4 colors can this be done with more colors( squares) can you make a tutorial for one with more squares plus how to join the squares together and how to do the border. I love big blankets the bigger the better, also can you make a video of some really easy crochet baby blankets using bernat baby yarn, bernat dappled, bernat stripes, please. Thankyou
I love these colors so much and want to use them when crocheting this pattern. I cannot for the life of me find the blue yarn. The only "seafoam" in Bernat blanket is the bay blanket that and it's super bright. HELP! Lol
6:50 I’m not sure if this is going to help anyone. It may confuse some people and I’m sorry if it does. I had to take apart 14 squares because I was accidentally adding an extra stitch. It was on the last corner instead of only double crotcheting twice then slip stitching. I would double crotchet twice move the stitches over to add the last stitch in the hidden stitch (then finishing adding more dc as the rounds got bigger). This made one of my sides slightly longer than the rest. Resulting in a wavy square. It’s easiest to tell what I mean right at the minute mark I added for the video.
So the magic ring corners are 3DC, CH2, 3DC - but each round after that the corners are 2DC, CH2, 2DC? Wondering why the corners went down a DC on the corners. I'm excited to get some yarn and try this blanket! It looks beautiful. Love the invisble join, definitely worth the extra effort if you don't want to do a round of the same color on all the squares!!
Thank you for the pattern! This may be a silly question but when you join the first round, are you joining into the second chain or into the entire chain space?
I did granny squares in a different yarn with a hook but I did 4 rounds the square came out perfect to me and same size too. I rewatched from the beginning so I don’t mess up the magic ring tho. To me it’s the magic ring that’s goes bad for me. But it’s easy to learn tho. I am beginner
I LOVE the colors but can’t find the seafoam color anywhere! Could they have discontinued? Any thoughts on a similar color? I was thinking misty green might work?
This this absolutely beautiful! can't WAIT to get started on mine. Do you happen to know how many skein's you used for your blanket per color? I am planning on making mine exactly like yours (colors and all because its so pretty!)
I’m self taught and have found your videos extremely helpful. I need some advice on the granny square. I’m following how to make the magic circle and have completed the dcs but when I get to the part of pulling the tail to close the hole my yarn won’t budge and it breaks. I’ve tried a few times with the same result. Any advice would be greatly appreciated 😊
Try chains instead of a magic circle. Chain 3, then slip stitch in the first chain to create a small circle, work the pattern in that small circle and it will be closed automatically (because it’s so small). Let me know if it works!
I have a handful of squares done and so far they all look good. The pattern on the site and video are both clear but I'm having trouble with the sizes. What size hook is everyone using? I got a perfect 8x8 using a 6.5mm hook and just over 8.5 using an 8mm hook. I'm using the same yarn recommended.
Got all my colors but the video actually looks like Bernat blanket GOLD, is it gold or burnt mustard ?? Same with the SEAFOAM ? The tutorial looks like misty green but the pic looks more like seafoam ? Which are the actual colors in the picture ? video ? Thank you Dani !
Love your design and color choice! I am following your tutorial and for some reason, when I got to pull the center to close it does not go. I pull but it feels like it’s stuck on something. Any tips for this issue?
It can happen with chenille yarn. I would recommend using the chain method instead if that's happening to you. Chain 4 and insert your hook in the first ch and slip stitch. This will create a loop, you have to work your stitches in that loop instead :)
Ive finished the squares and ready to join them with invisible stitch. Did you use one continuous piece of yarn for each row? If you use a short piece for each square what do you do with the tail on each end.?
I was so excited to do this pattern! I got all of my yarn. I have 4 granny squares done and only 2 of them are the same size, the other 2 are bigger. The stitch count is the same for all 4. How do i get them to be a continuous size going forward? I have only been crocheting for a few weeks now, so still new.
I definitely want to try this! I’m struggling to figure out the squares but I also only started to learn crochet a few days ago. Would you suggest using a lighter yarn to try making squares for the first time before using the chunky yarn?
Using chunkier yarn actually makes things easier for beginner, the stitcher are bigger, easier to see, etc.. so no, I would recommend the blanket yarn, for sure 🥰
FYI - Hey your scissors link comes up as a crochet hook 😳 Beautiful blanket, I can't wait to make it. I'm almost at 22 squares, my goal s to make 5 a day, & on the weekend 7-8 so I can have the blanket made in no time, woo hoo!! Thanks for sharing. ❤️🌹
I'm so confused when you put them together you skip the corner but in the video they look like they are stitched together so how do I do the corners :( ugh now I'm stuck
So to get this right in my mind, I cut a length of yarn to stitch two squares together correct? If that’s the case, Would the length of yarn be the same the length of the square or double? That would be a lot of ends to weave in as well? I’m at the point of putting these together. I hope someone is able to help me lol

Can you please make this tutorial using actual granny squares And same design its much easier for me granny squares And also how to put the granny squares together And the border thankyou

I caanot tell where you slip stitch at the end of the row and then you chain 2 for the next row, hard to see where you put your hook for that first double crochet as its 2 stitches together because of tgat chain 2. I think im getting an extra stitch and you dont say how many stitches in each row.
Im really struggling with the written pattern instructions vs the tutorial. The tutorial doesnt mirror the written instructions. I'm an experienced crocheter knowing the basic stitches i.e. slip stitch, chain, double crochet. I have always been able to follow written instructions. Very frustrated! The only thing I've been able to learn is the Mr from another tutorial site. Any suggestions?
I noticed that as well. The diagram matches the tutorial, so I have just been going off of the diagram, and my squares are looking good. I do feel I may need to block them before assembling the blanket. Good luck and happy crocheting ❤

hi cj! i have a question, how much yarn would u need to attach the first 2 granny squares like you showed in the video?
I like perfectt ❤ 👏
Hi great video, I’ve been wanting to know for a little can you drop a link to where you get your leather tags. Thank you so much!!
Question: How many skeins did you buy for each color?
It's about 2 each as written! Of course it depends on the tension and size. ❤
What was the finished products measurement
@paulacamillo1393 the pattern says it's 60 inches by 52 inches
When joining the squares, could we use a lighter weight yarn with the same technique of joining used here?
You sure can! 😊😊
I'm so confused when you put them together you skip the corner but in the video they look like they are stitched together so how do I do the corners :( ugh now I'm stuck
Do you think it still look good with category 7, super bulky weight yarn?
