I am from Trivandrum. The taste of Gandhi hotel pazhampori and ghee dosa still lingering my taste buds. My father used to take us frequently to Gandhi Hotel.

My childhood and yours seem very similar. We also had the wonderful opportunity to grow up and play with many cousins. it is very nice that you repeat the ingredients again as you cook. This makes it easy for the listeners to remember the list of ingredients. Thank you for doing that.

Tried this and came out really well infact I didn't leave the batter to rest. The 'caremelization' aroma as thala mentioned occupied the entire kitchen. This is my first dish ever which my kids enjoyed, many thanks to you thala ....
Excellent receip, it took me back to late 60's when I used to go to my grandparents house at Trivandrum and visit to challai market, eaten the snack but not sure which hotel, it is over 50 years back !!
Tasted this first in Kalpathy Agraharam, Palakkad and became a big fan of this......
My mom used to cook pala bajji with this ingredients. Everyone loves it.

I am also born n brought up in chalai , TVM with three brothers n three sisters.We r all fond of Gandhi hotel's vazhaika appam n vadai during 1970s n 1980.My father was a great coir mat business man in kothuval Street,Chalai.Those memories are still green in our minds.We still miss the valaika appam's taste.

In Kerala shops they use raw bananas and it's taste is not good.
But I made it in home using ripened bananas and it taste good....

Hello, am from Thrissur, Kerala. Pazhampori ( പഴംപൊരി) one of my favourite snacks and such a simple recipe. It reminds me of my mother. She used to make this whenever we got a ' nendra kola'. She is not with us anymore. But I still feel her presence whenever I prepare food. Thankyou for sharing your memories.

In kerala we wdo not use cooking soda, and mavu will be used immediately after mixing. This dish is tastier to use while hot. Usually we make it when guest comes
