Sounds like they took the fuzz part of the Dark Side Pedal and put it in its own box. The fuzz on the Dark Side is just great. Keeley makes great stuff.
The meteora with this pedal sounds so much like Billy Corgan's tone on Siamese Dream.
Yes, though Billy played every guitar part a bunch of times and layered them on top of each other… like a Phil Spector wall of sound thing but all guitars.
@@joermnyc it’s insane cuz Siamese dream was recorded all analog as well. He had to get every track completely replicated perfectly by himself.
@@joermnyc Yep, at least on Siamese Dream. Butch Vig said the song Hummer had Billie record something like 72 takes (not sure if every one of those was used) all layered together til the fuzz tone was almost buttery smooth. I love the guitar tones on that record

Fuzz from Dark Side was my favourite fuzz, but it was too big for using it like a fuzz, so finally they made it as a separate pedal

My Darkside has been the only Muff I’ve really enjoyed.
I still wondering why the name choice and marketing strategy for this pedal. And haven’t heard anything that sounds like David Gilmour. And David Gilmour isn’t someone that used fuzz that often. And the songs in this demo don’t sound anything like the originals. Not saying it’s a bad pedal, but it could have been a better demo for many reasons.

Gilmour was a heavy user of Fuzz and Muffs. Fuzzface in the early days, up to DSOTM, then Muffs.
@@benjaminfowler4513 yep. BC108 Fuzzface. He used germanium Fuzzface in the early days, then a BC109 on Meddle (mostly "Echoes), then the 108. Muffs from Wish You Were Here onwards, although that record features a lot of cranked Power Booster tones - but that's a kind of fuzz effect itself.
I love his FF tones and the Muff tones on Animals and The Wall.

Ordered. Seriously impressive demo. I thought i was done with fuzz, but now i'll just have to try this out and hope it makes me want to sell one of the others.... Robert Keely just _speaks_ to me. Already have the Red Dirt Germanium, and Super Phat Mod. Now i wonder how many of his other pedals i 'need' to try....
The FUzz Bender of his is my favorite! Can get any fuzz tone with that thing, mind blowing

Unlike the Dark Side pedal the Moon pedal is not a lead guitar players pedal but great for that thundererous sound you want backing up your lead . This is the pedal to add to your setup. I would likely have a Keeley Dark Side and also a Keeley Moon so I would be able to have the complete sound I'm looking for . Pink Floyd was the band in the 70's that took the guitar sound beyond anything we had heard before with exception of what Jimi Hendrix produced which still to this day has guitarist's mesmerized by the masters touch .
Ive got the DS and dont use the mod side much, wondering if this is a good alturnative?

@@minibuns5397 Ive keep the DS but lucked out and got a Big Muff V5 for $60 its better then the DS but its so big the BF is not living on the board
@@shckltnebay v5 for $60 is one heck of a deal. Awesome! Yes that’s a big box but that’s a classic one that will only go up in value over time. I’m running an EHx Op Amp bm. I like the midrange voicing on this muff. It does it for me. You can’t go wrong with an original. Nice score, congrats again!

I'm a total fuzz-head. Had the Monterey for years and the fuzz is always on. Love stacking fuzzes and had an EQD Hoof running into it for a long time. Added a Fulltone OCD Ge custom and thought I was done. The Lunar eclipse from Fuzzrocious before, between, or after is a force multiplier.
Have a friend/former co-worker who's been at EQD for a while. He gave me a heads up before the Hizumitas dropped. That one has temporarily replaced the Hoof?
Not sure where the Moon is gonna end up, but I'm pretty sure it will have a place. The flat, full, and scooped could be the end of my search for dirt, but probably not! ;P
I think I want to add a Hoof to go with my EHX op amp, that will about do it for me

So Depending on the amp I agree. I found also by it being more how I know them to sound it's just easier to use. This is different than the darkside though where the eqs sit (and several other parts also)

Interested to know how this one differs from their Rotten Apple opamp muff, which I have been using for years at minimum gain for splatty tweed sounds. A surprisingly dynamic design.

What is the difference between this and the Rotten Apple Fuzz?
I have the same question. I love my Rotten Apple but this sounds slightly cleaner or filtered in most modes.
The new Moon Fuzz could be considered a heavily modified rotten apple (or darkside), but this circuit has changed so much that it 's really a different design. Here we stack the gain stages differently and add low-end in a different area of the circuit, thus giving much more gain without the bass eating up the headroom. It comes out 'cleaner' and much more gainy at the same time!

@@AndyDemos I try to do your style with no pick but I can’t get that attack consistently the way you do. I can fingerpick really well too. I guess it’s just like anything else when it comes natural to someone.
I got one pick with my beginners mexistrat package 25 years ago, wore it down, didn’t have a car & couldn’t get to a music shop to replace it, so i did diy fingerstyle instead, and you eventually feel how to let the strings pop off your fingers, sometimes using finger edges the sides of your nail, or the soft pads of your fingers to soften parts of the sound almost like a palm mute. The control you have over the sound of every note and ability to use 4 or 5 fingers playing notes at a time makes me wonder why we ever used picks at all.
@@Spuzzmacher Yess! It’s about connecting with the strings, picks just feel in the way for me. However they certainly have advantages in certain styles (metal etc). Thanks 👍🏻
