man im so glad you live on the opposite side of the country. i would go broke in your shop. lol. id be the customer that never leaves. another great video.
Thank you for saying something about the whole right vs. wrong mentality! One of my biggest gripes with the aquarium hobby has been the constant intolerance of any different schools of thought. An example that always seems to reappear is bettas. Now if you just do a quick look around google and you will be told that betta NEED a 10 gallon by one person, and then immediately after that someone will tell you they can live in a tea cup. Funny thing is, depending how you manage those environments, both answers are correct. Why some keepers feel compelled to bash on people, especially new keepers, is beyond me. If the fish look and act healthy, who cares about the tank. Thanks for being a positive force for change. We need more of that in the hobby.
Your little rants today are just what i needed to hear!! I am setting up a lot of new tanks and trying to make videos. Worried about my setups and my snail "problem", but after watching this video im pushing forward with my videos and the content i want to put out there. Im really proud of my fish and just want to show them off. Thanks again for another great video!!
Seriously learned so much from your real talk. I too think fish keeping is an art. I am learning by doing and really appreciate you for sharing your experience and knowledge with this newbie. Thanks Cory. I love guppies BTW
"I didn't mean to flip you guys off there" 😂 Great video! I am currently getting into guppies thanks to my girlfriend and its been great!! Looking forward to watching more of your videos :D
I have not found a single one of your videos that I haven't learned something from and been entertained! Guppies are my favorite although I have other varieties of fish. Trying to add more and more plants as I love planted tanks and I LOVE snails! I keep them in all of my tanks and try to get lots of different ones.
Nothing wrong with the more polished current videos of 2018. You and Jimmy do a great job on those. However, I really like the more impromptu vids like this one. Just a fish keeper and his fish room with a hand held camera. Cheers.
What a good point. By using the science you learn you are also refining it. Finding the niches where it can be adjusted for the benefit of all involved. Really enjoy your show. Thanks.
I really hope you do what ever makes you happy Cory. with thousands of followers your not gonna keep us all happy all the time. I know if your enjoying it than so will I, even if I don't keep the fish your keeping.☺
I find it's the magic of being able to see into world that's impossible to see otherwise. There's always that mystery of what lays underneath the water and with aquariums you get to see it. So for me it's like unraveling a mystery and makes the hobby a magical thing. Few compare, I think ant keeping is closely related for said reasons.
Aquarium Co-Op Would you do a stream on dwarf cichlids? The breeding, the care, the species etc. Like how you did one on breeding for profit and goldfish.
Hey cory could you try (roughly)counting the first couple of drops so I can get an idea of how fast the guppy populations multiply and whether each different colony grows at different rates in comparison? I'm just curious as always.
When I had a aquarium years ago I thought guppies were a joke. I got a tank for my daughter and we started with guppies. Now I have guppies in two of my seven tanks. Love them and was drooling over some of the breeds you got. Who cares if ppl say you are on a kick. Everyone needs to do what is good for them.
Great daily dose! One of the best! I love Guppys! I bought 2 tanks yesterday and I'm going to put some Guppys in it soon! Thumbs up Cory! I can't wait for the Christmas stream! #aquariumcoop #tacounion
Wow. You have been doing alot of work in your fishroom. I'm excited to see what you have planned with your rice fish and guppy colonies. 😊 Good luck with your positive fish forum... sounds like you are on the right track.
what type of black gravel is that? sorry if I missed it in a previous video. really liking gravel more lately for planted tanks. just don't like the color of the natural pea gravel i'm using
hey cory. i cross bred a panda guppy female with an endler. Are they completely different species? The fry look like black bar endlers but with blue on the body as well as orange green and the black bars.
+The PET Shed He actually gets them wholesale. These fish are from Guppy Train. He said in a later video that he will never say the name of the wholesaler
Finally somebody advertising snails. I've been in the hobby for 30 years now and the most stable tanks always have snails! Those tanks can run for ages and absorb minor issues on their own with those snails eating leftovers, dead fish, and they even buffer ph with their shells to a certain extent.
I haven't gone through the whole video yet so there may be another comment I have snails growing in a 20 gallon tank I think it's long along with three baby black Molly Ivins tamales you're doing great and every so often I take some of those Nails out and feed it to my loaches and goldfish in my 75 gallon tank I got these nails from purchasing a couple mothballs my local pet shop I have noticed that since I've been feeding them to my lotion the loaches are very happy very colorful clown loaches in case I make another comment and forget you are my hero Cory and though I am old at forty-five almost forty-six I strive to be kind of like you when I grow up with fish might even start breeding mollies now who knows maybe I'll break into Guppies but I always eat tacos :-)
Thank you for that "rant" about the two types of people. I was trying to get info off a forum and I had 3 different people giving me conflicting information, telling me to add this or rehome that, you need more this don't do that. This was so discouraging because I've tried my best studying, reading, watching videos for days and days maybe even months before I started planting and stocking and yet I'm being told I'm not doing it right. it's very discouraging for the hobby and I'm starting to not want to continue working on my tank because I just don't have that knack. thanks for letting me rant!
cory, quick question, what are those things you use to cover your tanks, the plastic sheats? i tried going to home depot and explain to them what i needed and they did not understand!! thank you cheers
I used it to keep live brine shrimp at the store and I used that on the sumps system for it as there was a lot to skim out. I've got all the makings for saltwater tanks, just not the motivation...... yet :P
Hey guys I got a question.. How frequently should I do a water change on my tnak? I have a 54litre (14 gal) community tank with about 15 fish (2 plecos, 3 neons and 1 momma guppy and about 8-9 young female guppies that I don't know what type they are). Currently I'm changing water every 7 days and I'm doing about 60 - 70% water changes that I think might be a bit too much. What's your opinion?
Too bad.. I bought them pregnant from a guppy tank at a fish store.. I wanna get some fancy ones.. I had a black male and red male but they didn't make it. Thanks for the reply!
Have you ever seen white pond/tadpole snails? I have them all over my tank. There are about 50% black and 50% white snails. They have white and blond shells with white bodies. It's really cool.
Also, I'm a newer subscriber and I'm here because of your daily dose videos. Interestingly, I don't typically care for vlog style videos, but yours show all sorts of quick thoughts and ideas. I know you asked a while ago what was bringing more people into your channel. Also, I like how you challenge things. You inspired my first tank that I picked up night before last, it was a Craigslist rescue. Lol. Thanks so much.
Aquarium Co-Op Aquarium Co-Op Yes! I watched through every one of your daily doses and unboxings, among random live feeds and whatnot. I hadn't really considered keeping fish until a random unboxing video showed up in my feed. I have no clue how UA-cam's algorithm works. I follow a lot of artists, make up channels, gamers, and a few random ant keepers. Lol. I've been watching you for a month or two. I was still really unsure what, if any, fish to get (was feeling some Mollies), but a 30 gallon tank went on Craigslist. She had a gourami and a pleco in four inches of water. And six inches of gravel. Also a 100w heater was on and the intake was way out of the water. I was like, "NO! I have to save them!" I likely started in a bad spot for a beginner, but the fish look so much better already! I've already picked a sponge for the intake. I'm going to pick up a few more to supercharge the filter. I had to go to the local store for the emergencies, but you'll find an order from Tennessee one day soon for sure!
Also, if you can only when setting up the tank get some live plants and some plastic, start with that and you can always change it afterwards. I have been able in the past to breed swordtails just fine with only plastic as I didnt have any live plants. So you are correct that there are many ways to do things, and as long as it works ok for you, then it is the right way :)
Aquarium Co-Op Thank you for your reply, but I think the tank I was talking about have under gravel filter, the tank with your DIY pleco cave and on which you just put plants in this video. Also love your videos, it'll be nice if you can a make playlist with videos targeted towards beginner's.
I like seeing your unboxing videos! When do guppy fry get their colors? Can you do a stage by stage video, I'm new to the hobby and I would like to do a guppy community tank 😀
Amen on the pond snails, i have em in every tank, love em. By the way what is the gravel you used in the 100 gal? Just plain old black gravel or a planted tank one? The tanks lookin awesome already without even growing out! LOVE LOVE LOVE the big guppy tank idea also! what a great episode haha!
Hello Cory I hope your doing fine I have a question. Today I bought 2 angelfish they are 5cm long a bit big they don't move much they float in the tank and they move there fins but there not as active as a guppy or goldfish they are so slow they float only they are very healthy though
I like snails, but I have trumpet snails. They breed like fleas and they don't look great in my tank. Petco had them on the plants I got from them. I love my two assassin snails but they can't keep up with the population, I thought about getting mini puffers but I'm not sure. It's only a 5gal tank. Do you have any tips to help control population? (Sand bottom, partly planted) I have three corey in there growing up for my 55gal and a veiltail betta. (And no I won't add puffers with the betta, I'll transfer the betta to another tank if I do get puffers but don't think the tank is big enough for puffers). Any advice?
Maybe adding more plants could help, they ll take out the nutrition so less algae will grow. My experience is that the population of snails depends on the amount of food available.
I recommend using Aquarium Solutions Ich X. As it's the best treatment I've found for ich. www.aquariumcoop.com/products/aquarium-solutions-ich-x?variant=20392230980
hi corey i have 6 platy 5 are normal and a couple are pregnatnt but one of the platy is really skinny (it also has red eyes so maybe an albino) so do you have any idea what i should do. yes i have seen it eat some food
First time I've seen your videos, always looking for different ways to set up an aquarium and putting in plants, and fish. You have a store?? How do I get to it?? Excited about seeing more from you! Thanks!
19:38 Madagascar lace Plant So when I was heavy into the hobby several decades ago -- keeping this plant alive was like the pinnacle of plant success. Now as I prepare to dive back into the aquarium hobby I have been binge watching UA-cam aquaria for the last 2 months -- this is like only the 2nd mention of this plant I have heard. What happened? Did everyone give up? did it just fall out of fashion?
Yo Corey! Long time fan here, towards the end you mention medicating tanks. I know how to medicate for fish, but is there anything you do for shrimp? I've got a super heavily planted 110 that is currently fishless, and Im thinking of dropping a few hundred shrimp in. (Also, where can you bulk buy culled shirmp? I don't need pure cherries, or blue eyes, etc)
I currently buy my Fancy Guppies here:twincitiesguppies.com use my affiliate code: *aquariumcoop* to save 5%.
Hey can you do a video on plant set up for the tanks.
But this place was cheaper for trio 🤔

Thank you for the snail rant. I love snails. They work hard. Go snails!
I love snails, too. I have all different kinds in my tanks: bladder, pink and red ramshorn, mystery, Malaysian trumpet, and nerite snails.
Thank you for saying something about the whole right vs. wrong mentality! One of my biggest gripes with the aquarium hobby has been the constant intolerance of any different schools of thought.

Mid day rants are great fuel for the fire!
I love all the guppy action! Can't wait to get good tips on managing all the births and building up the strains.
love the part science part art comment - thats exactly what i love about this hobby - great video as ever

What a good point. By using the science you learn you are also refining it. Finding the niches where it can be adjusted for the benefit of all involved.

You are right Cory. This was definitely among your best Daily Dose!
I really like those variatus high-fin platys. Beautiful colors.

this hobby is really a science and an art. Well said, kind sir!
The varied content show is solid

Do they normally just stay at the top of the tank ? Trying to see if I should get a tall tank or low and long
I love your idea of doing a planted guppy tank in the office
Love the guppies Cory more livebearer content for sure!!!
Would love to see more livebearer content, especially plaites. The variatus platies in this video are looking sweet!
Platies are super fun for sure.
I found this page through other pages. I really like watching how you do stuff. I had some fish when I was growing up.
Hi. How hardy are these compared to say, Endlers?
Surprised this one hasn’t seen 500k or 1M views. Maybe the title? This is a solid video.
I clicked on this for guppies, but learned a lot more. Thank you 😊
Those platies are sooooooo cool. Nice guppies too.
Where do you usually buy your guppies from? im looking to start breeding and want solids colors to begin with.
I buy a lot from Aquabid.
What are those "uplift tubes"?
New to fishkeeping and totally in love 😍. Lotta good channels out there but you da best!

It's all about learning. There will be some casualties most likely both plants and fish on your path to becoming a seasoned aquarist.
Wow great vid on guppies! I hope they multiply and grow
cory, quick question, what are those things you use to cover your tanks, the plastic sheats? i tried going to home depot and explain to them what i needed and they did not understand!!

those platies are sweet! you've totally got me hooked on live bearers BTW, I just set up a guppy breeding for profit tank. Thanks Cory.
What are you doing with a protein skimmer in your stock room? Starting a saltwater tank??
I used it to keep live brine shrimp at the store and I used that on the sumps system for it as there was a lot to skim out. I've got all the makings for saltwater tanks, just not the motivation...... yet :P
What kind of seeds to buy for your fish tank (greenery
more guppies?? you're starting 2017 as the year of the livebeaers I see. I can't wait to see what they look like as mature adults!!
I love guppies, always wanting to see new kinds!
Where you talking about yesterdays live stream? Or is there another one to day?
Hey guys I got a question.. How frequently should I do a water change on my tnak? I have a 54litre (14 gal) community tank with about 15 fish (2 plecos, 3 neons and 1 momma guppy and about 8-9 young female guppies that I don't know what type they are). Currently I'm changing water every 7 days and I'm doing about 60 - 70% water changes that I think might be a bit too much. What's your opinion?
+Teodor Todorov seems to be a bit much, but only water tests can reveal that really.
Thanks for the reply Cory. I'll buy some testers and check.
btw is there a place where I can see what type my female guppies are?
Not really, female guppies are really hard to differentiate.
Hi Cory, is the temperture gun you use accurate? if so can you let me know the make? Thanks!
What type of fertilizer do you recommend for plants?
Talking from Portugal
I'm not sure what is available, I'd look for Dennerle's all in one fertilizer, or Tropicas all in one fertilizer.
Waw biutiful instalation
How long do you cycle your tanks?
Will you be doing a full step by step video when you set up your big, planted, guppy tank, please? :D
Yes! Do the big guppy tank!
loving geeking out on livebearers. Got a nano with Endlers which is my first attempt at a planted tank.
Love the livebearer content!
Very beautiful
cory, what are some tall plants that is easy to care for?
+s_ r pogostemon stellatus octopus and wisteria
Aquarium Co-Op the first plant is relly hard to get down wheir i live so i think i go with wisteria.
Loved just seeing the setups. Awesome
Woohooo, more guppies. More guppies 🤩
Great video Cory! Guppy train has nice strains! When do you get your ATFG strains?
I believe the ATFG strains will be mid to late January.
Random thought/question. Do you turn out the lights for these tanks at night?
Also, I'm a newer subscriber and I'm here because of your daily dose videos. Interestingly, I don't typically care for vlog style videos, but yours show all sorts of quick thoughts and ideas. I know you asked a while ago what was bringing more people into your channel. Also, I like how you challenge things. Wow, so you were watching me before owning a fish tank?

"I'm really enjoying the packing" haha
picking and grabbing plants from different tanks, does that run risk of introducing disease to a tank/fish?
+D Leal sure pretty much everything you do runs that risk. Changing water etc. there is risk with everything
What kind of filtration is used in that tank?
A sponge filter
Aquarium Co-Op Thank you for your reply, but I think the tank I was talking about have under gravel filter, the tank with your DIY pleco cave and on which you just put plants in this video. Also love your videos, it'll be nice if you can a make playlist with videos targeted towards beginner's.
There is no fish store near #### Baldwin St, Valley Springs Ca, Do you know if they sell plants?
I like seeing your unboxing videos! When do guppy fry get their colors? Can you do a stage by stage video, I'm new to the hobby and I would like to do a guppy community tank 😀

230 gallon living room tank? I filmed it for a video coming up soon.
I always enjoy the guppy and platys in your videos!
where did u get those fish tank racks that their stacked on?
The cinder block ones are DIY, the metal ones are custom fabricated.
hi cory, how many guppies for 15 gallon tank you recommend?
Abu Ahmad you could start with two males four females
Amen on the pond snails, i have em in every tank, love em. By the way what is the gravel you used in the 100 gal? Just plain old black gravel or a planted tank one? The tanks lookin awesome already without even growing out! LOVE LOVE LOVE the big guppy tank idea also! what a great episode haha!
I used aragonite.

I use just a lot of different small foods like my fry food, crushed up flake etc.
Nothing like a good old fashion snail trail running across that old nose, huh Cory.

So when I was heavy into the hobby several decades ago -- keeping this plant alive was like the pinnacle of plant success. Now as I prepare to dive back into the aquarium hobby I have been binge watching UA-cam aquaria for the last 2 months -- this is like only the 2nd mention of this plant I have heard. What happened? Did everyone give up? did it just fall out of fashion?
+sevenmile I've always kept them. We sell tons of them in store.
Nice video, Cory! We have that same fan (Lasko) in our fish room. Love the remote and it's features.
Yeah those are for our house, but stored in the garage for now :) We have only had em for 1 season, but so far so good.
topnotch video, really enjoying the dialogue and topics.
