    Thank you for saying something about the whole right vs. wrong mentality! One of my biggest gripes with the aquarium hobby has been the constant intolerance of any different schools of thought.
    An example that always seems to reappear is bettas. Now if you just do a quick look around google and you will be told that betta NEED a 10 gallon by one person, and then immediately after that someone will tell you they can live in a tea cup. Funny thing is, depending how you manage those environments, both answers are correct. Why some keepers feel compelled to bash on people, especially new keepers, is beyond me. If the fish look and act healthy, who cares about the tank. Thanks for being a positive force for change. We need more of that in the hobby.

    I have not found a single one of your videos that I haven't learned something from and been entertained! Guppies are my favorite although I have other varieties of fish. Trying to add more and more plants as I love planted tanks and I LOVE snails! I keep them in all of my tanks and try to get lots of different ones.

    I find it's the magic of being able to see into world that's impossible to see otherwise. There's always that mystery of what lays underneath the water and with aquariums you get to see it. So for me it's like unraveling a mystery and makes the hobby a magical thing. Few compare, I think ant keeping is closely related for said reasons.

  • @ashton5592

    Hey cory could you try (roughly)counting the first couple of drops so I can get an idea of how fast the guppy populations multiply and whether each different colony grows at different rates in comparison? I'm just curious as always.

    • @AquariumCoop
      @AquariumCoop  7 років тому +1

    Nothing wrong with the more polished current videos of 2018. You and Jimmy do a great job on those. However, I really like the more impromptu vids like this one. Just a fish keeper and his fish room with a hand held camera. Cheers.

    When I had a aquarium years ago I thought guppies were a joke. I got a tank for my daughter and we started with guppies. Now I have guppies in two of my seven tanks. Love them and was drooling over some of the breeds you got. Who cares if ppl say you are on a kick. Everyone needs to do what is good for them.

    I haven't gone through the whole video yet so there may be another comment I have snails growing in a 20 gallon tank I think it's long along with three baby black Molly Ivins tamales you're doing great and every so often I take some of those Nails out and feed it to my loaches and goldfish in my 75 gallon tank I got these nails from purchasing a couple mothballs my local pet shop I have noticed that since I've been feeding them to my lotion the loaches are very happy very colorful clown loaches in case I make another comment and forget you are my hero Cory and though I am old at forty-five almost forty-six I strive to be kind of like you when I grow up with fish might even start breeding mollies now who knows maybe I'll break into Guppies but I always eat tacos :-)

  • @lahormiga1989
    @lahormiga1989 4 роки тому +1

    I seriously like how open-minded you are about fish keeping. The fish's health is what's important not how we decorate things. As long as they have enough space food, shelter, and clean water, I doubt they care what color gravel or if there plants are real or not. I love the natural look, but some people like my aunt can't grow plants if her life depended on it. So fake plants would work best for her. Others like to mix and match fake and real. And if an adult is actually going to do most of the work and all the research, you can even make a tank for a child. That way they could see what it takes to take care of a life. My aunt cleans the tank and feeds the fish for the most part, but her grandson feeds his Betta when he visits. She gives him the food so he doesn't over feed him. Same with any other pet, just do the research and make sure it gets the care it needs, if it's housing isn't harmful to it, then the looks don't matter.

    Also, if you can only when setting up the tank get some live plants and some plastic, start with that and you can always change it afterwards. I have been able in the past to breed swordtails just fine with only plastic as I didnt have any live plants. So you are correct that there are many ways to do things, and as long as it works ok for you, then it is the right way :)

    To do that wrap on the heat pad it's simple really. You want the paper in a diamond configuration to the heat pad, the corners should be on the flat side of the pad. Fold up the corner facing you then the two sides then the top, furthest from you then the very tip of the last corner slide it in between the two side folds and the bottom and it will self hold the top fold.

    There are a lot of ways to do things, but the safety and wellbeing of the animals in our care should be our priority. We don't want our animals to just survive -- we want them to truly thrive, and that will be far more beautiful than the most well-scaped tank with sickly fish.

      Finally somebody advertising snails. I've been in the hobby for 30 years now and the most stable tanks always have snails! Those tanks can run for ages and absorb minor issues on their own with those snails eating leftovers, dead fish, and they even buffer ph with their shells to a certain extent.

    Thank you for that "rant" about the two types of people. I was trying to get info off a forum and I had 3 different people giving me conflicting information, telling me to add this or rehome that, you need more this don't do that. This was so discouraging because I've tried my best studying, reading, watching videos for days and days maybe even months before I started planting and stocking and yet I'm being told I'm not doing it right. it's very discouraging for the hobby and I'm starting to not want to continue working on my tank because I just don't have that knack. thanks for letting me rant!

    U can have my snails! I've so many, I worry about their bio load! I've guppy and endlers. I buy the one that really stands out and just let them get on with it! I've some really really amazing colours, neon guppy reds, blues, yellows, pinks, some with a black 'tint' (Russian blacks) some with stripes some with spots! Recently got 6 cobra males! Should make for good patterns!? I just wanted some fish to look at! But u get so into it! Does take time and £, but addictive and rewarding hobby!

    19:38 Madagascar lace Plant
    So when I was heavy into the hobby several decades ago -- keeping this plant alive was like the pinnacle of plant success. Now as I prepare to dive back into the aquarium hobby I have been binge watching UA-cam aquaria for the last 2 months -- this is like only the 2nd mention of this plant I have heard. What happened? Did everyone give up? did it just fall out of fashion?
