@@CAR105729 Sad to hear about your fish, read and watch videos on the Nitrogen cycle and the importance of cycling tanks before adding too many fish for the system to handle, it sounds like the tank wasn't ready for that many fish at once and there was an Ammonia spike that overstressed them.
Same for planted tanks, learn as much as possible before you start, it will save you a lot of stress too.
Aquarium co-op videos on these subjects are some of the best IMO.

Hi Cory. Thanks to you, I became a plant lover. When I started my tank, and after a while put plants in it, my plan was to have a tank to use as a plant keeper and as fish quarantine before I put it in my main tank, a far more bigger on, the "quarantine" tank is about 20 USG. I put fancy guppies in there, mainly to get a cycle going. The plants I bought was a nice fit for my larger aquarium. And everything was great until I decided to not get a larger tank. Some of the plants are fast growing, don't get these if you're not in to trimming like crazy. The tank looks like a fantastic jungle, the guppies are thriving, but after a while you get overwhelmed - and your plants want light, so they compete about the light, so the tank gets darker and darker. Get slow growing plants, like anubias and such. My plants are doing too well, including the red and purple ones

May I add a couple plants to this list? From a newbie like myself:
    -dwarf lily
    -moneywort
-red tiger lotus (I think I got lucky)
    -green wendtii
I can't believe how much luck I've had with dwarf lilies, they are super rad, totally awesome, and whatever other sick 90s slang you can come up with!

Cabomba, however, can be planted or floated... and my snails and shrimp looooove it!! And suuuuper easy! Even if it dies back a bit, it comes back full. :)
Also, Pearlweed has helped me get started ALOT! planted OR floated! And BEAUTIFUL carpet too! Couldnt keep dwarf sag, baby tears or monte carlo, but pearlweed worked AMAZING for me!!

Have all of these in my tanks! But the one plant I find to be the easiest and prettiest isn't mentioned in this video:
    Ludwigia repens.
Seems like you can watch it growing. Grows sooo fast. It's really easy to propagate, you can just buy a few, let them grow and fill the rest of the tank with it.
And it looks quite spectacular when it grows out of the water...

I had Java Ferns in a tank many years ago, and had them planted right down in the substrate. Had no problems at all with it. I originally planted three that sent off runners that eventually took over one end of the tank. Never had any problems with it dying. I used an iron based rock and sand as my substrate, and had no issues of any kind with plants. The only plant I ever had an issue with, was wysteria. The stuff very nearly took over the entire tank. To say that it grew like a weed would be an understatement. Even after I took it out, there would be little bits that I would find growing again a few weeks later. Took me three months to finally get rid of it. I can't remember what the other plants were, but all of them grew to epic proportions while I had the tank, especially the Java Ferns. I eventually gave the tank to someone else when I moved, mostly because it was too big to really transport across three states in a little car, but as far as I'm aware, that guy still has it, and still keeps fish in it.

Love this list! I think almost all the plants I’ve gotten were grown emerged. Most of them are finally taking off! One of the first plants I got was water wisteria. It really didn’t seem like the stems were going to make it but I never toss a plant unless it’s gone mushy. Now I have a tall wisteria forest! It’s doing the best by far. A stem plant I think is Ludwigia is doing pretty well too. Most of my swords are finally coming back after completely melting. The java moss, windelov fern, and anubius are tugging along although they’re plagued by a light covering of soft green algae. I accidentally barbered most of the lace on the windelov trying to rub the algae off 😬 In my QT tank I’m clearing some hornwort which is growing like mad despite having only west facing window light! I’ve also got cabomba in there which came by accident when I ordered hornwort the first time. Does great in the QT tank when the light on it but it just melts in my display tank so I’m not sure what to do with it. Above water I’ve got pothos and gold ribbon bamboo growing like mad. The only things that seem like they’re going to die out is frogbit, funny enough, and another stem plant that seems like ludwigia but is definitely different than the others I have. I have a fertilizer regiment but no CO2. I’ve got a plant growing bulb and a small LED. Nothing too fancy. Hoping for a stingray maybe for my birthday 😏 although the fluval 3.0 would be killer! I’m loving plants just as much as fish!! Can’t imagine the tank without them!

Oh and I have dwarf hair grass that was starting to carpet until I moved it to a different tank and a Marino moss ball that fell apart! I don’t know what causes moss balls to fall apart but I’ve set it on driftwood like a mat and it’s till dark green so there’s that... very strange

Thanks for this video! I literally just found susswasertang in my tank. It must have snuck in ages ago with the java moss I had bought. I had two balls of it attached to teh spray bar of my canister filter.

Thanks to Cory I have planted my first aquarium!
I wasn't a fan of the Christmas Moss or the Bicopa so I removed them. They just didn't look good in my tank, but will certainly work for others.
I now have Cryptocoryne Wendtii Green, Cryptocoryne Albida, Limnophilia Sessiliflora, Vallisneria Spiralis and Ludwigia Palustris. I love the greens, browns and reds in my tank. I thought all easy plants were green but that isnt the case. I am so happy with my "easy" plants that I will never go for plastic plants again!
Thanks Cory for all your videos 😊

This is really informative I've checked away a few aquarium plants because I just thought that they died I didn't realize that they could grow back. Or they could be rescued with a bit of maintenance. Thank you so much

I got an amazon sword back in june when I took possession of the family goldfish. The goldfish died back in August, and I stopped paying attention to the aquarium, and now (October) I am getting it ready for new fish again. The sword is still alive, tons of new little leaves :) excited to watch it grow now that I'm giving it root tabs and getting some fish back in there. Hopefully it will have friends soon too.

I love this. Could you do a "going green" video? I respect that you talk here and there about being as eco-friendly as possible. I would love to have a succinct video of you giving your best tips to convert a semi-beginner/intermediate tank to one that is more environmentally conscious. Thanks!

Nobody ever seems to mention limnophila sessiliflora. A seemingly indestructible plant (well I haven't managed it yet), fast grower, low light, no CO2, and the tops close up at night... Oh, and the name... limnophila sessiliflora. limnophila sessiliflora. limnophila sessiliflora... Superb :D

I’m surprised you didn’t mention Anubias. Another easy, rhizome plant is Bolbitis Huedelotti. It likes softer water and near current but still easy. Plus, it’s different looking, fern like and dark green

I have never used 'root tabs' in my life!
Came back to this hobby after forty years absence.
No problems with any aquarium plants, including Amazon Swords
How do you think we coped before
    'root tabs'
Just this industry trying to sell us another product that we don't need.
    Notwithstanding this.
Great choice of plants. Thank you.

I ordered a plant bundle that has 10 “easy freshwater aquarium plants” but it’s a mystery bundle so I’m taking notes of every plant so when I get them I know exactly what to do. I’m working on my first ever planted aquarium 40gal community tank. I currently have hornwort, Anubias on my drift wood, Java fern on the drift wood and rocks and I know hornwort can just float but when I ordered it, it was very tall so I’m going to use it towards the back also considering it’s a fast growing plant.

I can attest that amazon swords are pretty amazing. Mine have grown really well to the point where they are sticking out of the water or due to the filter flow they create a small refuge for my albino bristlenoses that aren’t big fans of the light.

Hey man trying to help you out. Cast net will help you catch more fish in Florida lakes. Also, make sure you don't need a license for any state you try to catch fish in. I don't want you guys to get in trouble for netting when some state says it is fishing. The tickets will always be more than the license cost. Liked the video in my state of Florida. Keep up the good work.
