This is one of my favourite Wayfarer trips. For any cruisers looking to broaden their horizons from inland and river sailing, this is a great one for feeling the effects of tide on navigation. Where you point is NOT where you are going! Fab vid Jonathan.

Thank you! It's a great opportunity to go somewhere a bit different. At some point I fancy doing a trip from the Deben or Ore/Alde and using it as a waypoint before heading back in to the backwaters.

Thanks Jonathan - felt like summer, much needed, and inspired me to try the spinnaker.

Cheers Jonathan!! Looked like a good days sailing.
From what I could see, it looked like you weren’t using any masthead buoyancy. Probably quite manageable conditions, but what your thoughts on this? Would you definitely use it if you were more remote? Any downsides?

Thanks Rhys! The woodies are much less prone to inversion than the GRP boats, and after plenty of testing I'm very confident I'm able to right the boat from inverted alone, so for me I'm happy with the risk. Other people's assessment of the risk will obviously vary with their own circumstances!
