      Truly Hi Truly! So glad you found using the stylus tool work. Another useful tool is a cheap calligraphy pen, you can have different sized nibs by simply taking out one nib and using another nib. Still cleans up easily too. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment and for watching. 😉💕

    Linda - I can't thank you enough for showing me how to REALLY use my water colours. I have been floundering and making all sorts of mistakes for so long, but watching you was like a eureka moment - suddenly I actually SAW how to use my paints to their best effect, and how exactly to layer colour. Instead of a muddy mess, I am just starting ( in a very amateurish way) to see how I can bring out the best in the colours by layering. I wanted it all to happen immediately, but you showed me how to go slowly and steadily, using the faintest hints of washes rather than throwing all the colours together and crossing my fingers that I got a good result. It's going to take me years of practise - but at least I now have a starting point. I can't thank you enough xxxxx

      Marjorie I am planning on creating many more tutorials after the first of the year. This year I had so many planned but unfortunately I developed arthritis in my neck and it was extremely painful. I am getting that under control finally and so this next year I hope to have 3 or more new videos. My first first video after the first of the year will be teaching how I paint a portrait. Give me some ideas of what you would like see in the way of helping you become a better watercolor artist.

    Hi Linda I live in Utah too. I am in Cedar City and I also teach watercolor. I have taught for about 30 years. I have worked in all mediums but I love watercolor. In 1994 I wrote a how to watercolor book, it was all different flowers, " Flowers Ribbon and Lace in Watercolor" by me Lynda McCulloch. I also teach and design quilts. If you are ever down this way please let me know. I love your videos.

    Linda, thank you so much for sharing this. The fact that you did it slowly and show us every step is so helpful. I can hardly wait for the next part! Would you mind telling me what palette it is you use - it seems to have lots of wells and I would just love one too.
    Thanks again, Mary.

      Hi Mary! Thank you so very much! Part Two (available Friday) I won't be talking as much as I'll be painting the leaves and background but once I start the flower I'll will be with you every step of the way, talking, explaining and working those magic colors! My palettes is a Tom Lynch palette and has 32 large wells as well as a large mixing area. I've been using it about 8 yrs now. I love it.Thank you again Mary so very much!

    May I ask how you get your smaller imager to a larger sheet? I was thinking of a projector? But I'd like get what works, most of all? Thank you in advance!💕😜
    Sincerely,
    Lisa Drozé

    • @LindaSmithLatimer
      @LindaSmithLatimer  6 років тому +1

      Lisa Droze Hi Lisa, the easiest way I find is to enlarge photo to the size you want to paint, then trace it onto your watercolor paper. I have a copier that prints up 11”x17” so I can just print out my subject to sizes up to my largest printing size. I have tried projectors and do not like them. I have tried using s grid system and don’t like that either. You can also take a photo to a copying store and just tell them what size you want and they will print it out for you. Then you can buy graphite paper used to trace and trace your copy. I mainly use tracing for my portrait painting and just do a simple line drawing. Or if I’m in a rush to get something painted, I’ll trace just the main lines of the flower and then I let the paints do the rest. I hope this helps. If you need more help please don’t hesitate to ask.

      Cathy green thank you for watching my series and taking the time to comment. The program I used was Photoshop Elements and I just increased the colors of the photo. You can even use your smartphone to do this or any photo editing program. Just go into that editing function and increase the "colors." There are so many ways to do this I could never do a video to cover all the many ways to achieve this. If you would like to contact me privately via FB I can walk you through what you have available to accomplish this. It's really very easy. Thanks again for watching!
