Over the past 3 months or so, we’ve explored pretty much all of the best Spanish wines so you should be an expert by now, Rioja, Ribera del Duero, the reds, the whites, we’ve covered them all through 6 episodes about Spain so far. Today I want to give you a perspective not on a Spanish region this time, but on a Spanish grape, and THE most iconic of all Spanish grapes, Tempranillo. I worked with Tempranillo as a winemaker quite a bit, for 3 years in 2 different Spanish regions and it’s a fascinating grape you have to hear about because it has different expressions and facets. So, let’s get into your “quick” guide to Tempranillo, Vamos!

I enjoy that analogy of Rioja - Burgundy amd Ribera del Duero - Bordeaux. Im fairly new to wine and was trying to work out why Rioja isn't really my thing this sort of explains it for me

Great content and presentation! I am building a wine tasting of Spanish wine and have used much of your content to help explain the differences - thank you! I like the detail and specificity you provide and the polished presentation shows that much has been put into these presentations. Well done!

My guess is that the host is a native Spanish speaker but has picked up a very damned convincing British accent in his English language learning. Given these things, I wonder why he pronounces "tempranillo" as "tempraneel-lio" instead of "tempraneeyo" as it is pronounced in Spanish.
