  • We’re continuing here our exploration of all the best wines made in Spain in particular. Have a look around the channel if you want to check out our video series about the finest vinos from France, Italy or Portugal, and you can catch up on previous episodes of our ongoing Spanish wine series right here. Today we’re talking Spanish white wines because I want you to discover perhaps some hidden white gems you may not have heard about before.
Spain is of course most famous for its red wines, and I guess it’s fair-enough since really Spanish reds are fantastic, and we’ve explored here in this series a few red gems like Rioja, Priorat or the Ribera del Duero BUT I want to introduce you to at least 2 Spanish whites you can’t go on your wine journey without trying or at least hearing about and finding out whether they sound like something you’d like because they’re 1 the best and most reputable white wine styles, and 2 well they’re absolutely delightful and really unique… Starting with a wine region called Rias Baixas…

You should make a video on Greek wines. Greece has amazing red wines like Xinomavro, Agrioritico. In the whites you have Assiritico from Santorini, Moscophilero. And sweet wines from Samos

Albariño wines have a huge problem which is the acidity level. 1 glass is ok but if you want to have a full lunch / dinner with this wine it may become an issue. I strongly suggest to invest a bit more and go for the “Barrica” ones that have a bit of “crianza” in traditional oak barrels. Even though this makes the wine a lit less “fresh” it removes the excess acidity and adds so much complexity to the wine that I believe is money well spent. Overall when you think about it is very expensive to charge 25-30€ per bottle (starting level for this barrica albariños) for a 6 months crianza wine, but as the video points out these are expensive wines…
