    Thanks for the feedback! To answer a few unanswered questions, once the paint sediment has dried in the bottom of the container you can just throw it in the trash, it’s completely disposable at that time. Also if you have leftover paint in the bottom of a can or jar you can leave it open to dry, peel it out and throw it away or dispose of the entire container.🙏👍

    Thank you for that gift, the instruction on how to clean without hurting Earth more than we have to. My husband and I live over a creek and I worry about anything soaking into our groundwater. I appreciate this video.

    Thank you for this! Can you do a video where you talk about how you store your painted canvasses. Also, can you talk about what canvasses can be painted over. Any aspects of studio organization and structure would be helpful for creative types. I so appreciate your dedication to the exploration of color and form. Experimentation is so key in self-discovery as an artist. Thank you for sharing your vision.

    That's exactly how I've been doing from the beginning! Thanks to @LeftBrainArtist's instruction. Acrylic paint is glue based substance and it can easily clogg your pipes. I know about a lady who this happened to. Can't remember how many euros she had to pay to get the pipes fixed but it was expensive! Those who have a balcony or live in family dwellings, it's easy to put the bucket outside and let the paint evaporates. It's important to place a mesh on top of it, so that the birds, bees and butterflies don't get into it. Thanks for sharing this important message!

    Thanks Sara, I follow a similar procedure. It is great to limit our footprint. I will try your evaporation stage. I had been using a gravel pit to filter my diluted paint water.

    💜🦄With this video you’ve become my new favorite fluid art artist. I love this. Yes 👍 this makes so much sense. I’ve struggle since my art room is my living room and kitchen, I often time have a sink full of water to put my wet supplies into. I the put all of the stuff into a bucket and take it outside to wash out. I really should have the bucket in the sink and remove a step. Absolutely love this. Yay!🦄💜

    Wow!! Thank you so much Sara for another great, useful video. Anything I can do to lessen what goes down the drain is terrific. Not all my tools are silicone, and I hate throwing away plastic containers that are otherwise reuseable. I like the mason jar idea for storage too.

    Glad to see videos like this, Sara! These are the important steps that no-one ever posts videos about! I think I looked for a long time before I found even one a few years back. More artists should include these just like they do the paint mixing videos.

    Thank you so much for sharing this video. There are healthy way of disposing of things and I’m so happy that you have done this video. I keep a water bucket in my art space and clean my tools etc as I go and store the buckets. I learned this from a colleague of mine because I just wasn’t educated enough on how putting paint down the drain can be so bad. Love the fan idea. It is fab. We need to look after this beautiful planet 🌍. Love everything that you share.

    Thanx for sharing this important tip. One step I would add would be to apply vaseline around the inside of the jar lid, tighten then turn the jar upside down for storage. This step will help prevent the paint from forming a film on top. The vasoline prevents paint from sticking and makes it easy to unscrew.
    Also, if any separation takes place while in storage, it mixes well with a shake. It isn't easy to stir it once separation is on the top.

    • @SaraTaylor
      @SaraTaylor  2 роки тому

      This is an interesting idea, my only concern would be that the oil from the Vaseline would get into the paint, do you think that would be a problem?

    • @qweenjeans8
      @qweenjeans8 2 роки тому

      @@SaraTaylor Yes, that could be a problem if more than a thin coat of vaseline is rubbed onto the inside edge of the lid or on the outside of the screw area of the jar. The lid must be screwed on tightly.
      I have always used this method for my acrylic art🎨🖼 paints as well as left over interior wall paints. I have happily never experienced infiltrated paints.😊

    I have a three-4 gallon bucket system where I rinse and clean everything. Water, soap brush water, and then rinse water. I then pour the water outside away from my garden. I have clover growing through it so I feel it's been diluted enough.
    I have aerobic septic system and the paint would absolutely ruin it. Plus paint settles at the bottom of your pipes too. So not good!
    I scrape all left over paint using a silicone spatula into another bucket and let the paint dry. My trash guy picks it up for me and takes it to dispose it. I pay him a little extra for taking it for me.

    Good information, I also strain and reuse my drippings. Cleaning the tools is the most challenging. Mostly I just wipe them, let them dry and peel paint off if it gets to gross to use. I also try to use as much leftover housepaint as possible instead of buying new paint (of course can't always resist fancy paint), so helping other people to get rid of there half empty paint cans in their garages bringing them to good use.

    I also notice that you don’t use paper towels. What are your recommendations for cleaning your cloths and towels and do you ever use your washing machine to clean the towels. I have and watched so many fluid artists use lots of paper towels and I don’t imagine that is good either. Your suggestions would be most welcome. 🙏

    • @SaraTaylor
      @SaraTaylor  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Rebecca, I go to Goodwill and buy an old bag of towels and tear them up for rags. I honestly don’t run them to the washing machine, I would worry that it would not be good for the machine. Once they are saturated I let them dry and toss them.

      I was wondering the very same thing. The peelings are small, not like a bucket of paint water, but still the same amount of paint. UNLESS Sara’s was showing us how to prevent damage to the pipes in our house. I think that’s the answer.

    • @SaraTaylor

    Thank you so much for that! So if I get this right, the big bucket that holds the paint water….the paint will separate and sink and then you just drain the water off? Thanks again, Sara!

    • @SaraTaylor
      @SaraTaylor  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Kathy, yes the sediment well the bottom, you can be patient and let the water evaporate, you can also drain it through sand outside, that’s somewhat controversial. Golden also makes a kit where you can drain your paint water and the water runs out clear.🙏❤️
