- Video created in reflection of what was stated on both Gordon and Shughart's Medal of Honor Citation. In regards to who died first, the uncertainty does nothing to detract from the valor Gordon and Shughart exhibited during the final minutes of their lives. My father was a Ranger. He lost three good friends that day, one of them was Shughart. Still to this day he refuses to watch the movie and is quick to shut you up if you bring up that fight.
The miniguns are powered by the Black Hawks internal battery so when it went down the battery died rendering the miniguns useless.
While this was going on, we have countless spooky gunships not allowed to participate. Wtf would our president not authorize heavy air support to our troops??? What do we have it for??
Malaysians are in history. They were a part of the U.N. convoy with the Pakistanis & 10th Mountain Division. They are mentioned in the book as well as the movie.
Backwards. Gordan died first. Randy kept the Randy recovered his rifle with the last mag.
Actualy nobody knows for sure who died first. Mike durant said he thinks it was Gary, but couldn't remember, bc he was still in shoke from the crash.
I'm pretty sure the minis are electrically fired. I'm pretty sure that's right.
@CrystalHunter1989 As far as i understand, it took about a week to recover the two Delta`s bodies, im not sure which one but the remains of one of the soldiers was recoverd in parts except for the hand missing.
The families were discouraged from viewing the remains of their loved ones on repatriation back to the States due to the nature and condition the bodies were in.
U got both gordon and shughart mixed up. But respect still goes to these 2 brave men for their actions in one of the fierciest battle since vietnam war.

For anyone with even a piece of wisdom, the Helicopter CRASHED, rendering the Mini Gun useless. Since the Mini Gun is powered by electricity...obviously the Helicopter can't power it when it's in pieces on the ground.
These men were so brave. They knew they going to die, but they also knew they had to do something, otherwise there would have been no hope for the crew. Heroes forever...Rest in Peace Randy and Gary.
I don't mean to rain on parades, but this isn't what happened. This is Hollywood's version of it. What those 2 snipers went through to delay the enemy and ensure Durant's survival was too intense to be portrayed. Over 100 enemy dead were counted at the crash site, and that's after many were dragged away for medical attention that I'm sure they didn't receive.
these men were heroes by any measure.

These two are true heroes they knew what they were getting into but they didn't care lightly armed no air support way beyond the call of duty
