Carl took this like a champ looking back. What a class act.
Lol
Tony was the only one looking back
10 years later this still moves me to tears. As a die-hard smoke fan I was so proud to witness greatness . For as long as I live this will be a moment in time I'll cherish forever.
To me Tony is the closest thing to Dale Earnhardt. He came from absolutely nothing & has never forgotten that. I think he's the last true American racer that represents blue collar hopes and dreams. I don't always agree with what he says nor does but I respect the man for standing up for what he believes in nor backing down from anyone and the fact that he's still your average Joe. Go smoke!!!
Paul Fischer #AMEN Brother💯
Clutchest moment in NASCAR. Tony had to win and he did. Forever my favorite driver
Carl Edwards is such a stand-up guy. Love to see sportsmanship.
More than two years later, still getting chill bumps. What a night.
The best race and series I've ever witnessed. Tony's spectacular effort, Carl's absolute class. Speechless.
The most talented race car driver I’ve ever seen in my life. Absolutely ridiculous. I don’t even think he realizes how damn good he is. NASCAR hasn’t been the same since he left but it’s awesome to see him tearing it up every Saturday night still.
One of the most amazing performances over the last 10 races that any motor racing has seen. This is where true talent shows. Back completely against the wall and he fought out of it.
Decided to watch this tonight after his last race. Brung a huge smile to my face.
Tony Stewart is one of the best drivers in the world yeah he won three championships and he won at sonoma
Indy car championship too
I still can't belive that I went to the race and saw my fav. Driver win. That was my fav. Nascar race I went to and will always be.
Tony, we'd like to congratulate you on your third NASCAR winston nextel sprint busch nationwide craftsman camping world featherlite truck cup series win, and your first as a driver/owner.
This is what planted the seed for the playoff format, crazy.
The playoff format hasn’t been perfect (final 4 needs to be 2 races, not just the last one), but it has been kind of interesting
This is why I love Tony!! You can do this again Buddy! I support you Tony! ❤️#14
It still breaks my heart that Carl didn’t win the title but Tony put on the best 10 races I’ve ever seen
The epitome of "if you ain't first your last"
tony won on my birthday i was so happy it made my whole week
GREAT race between these two guys and a classy way to end it by Edwards. I remember these two HATED each other in Pocono of 2006 (or maybe 05 idk lol) when Tony wrecked Boywer into Edwards...man have things changed in 5/6 years lol.
One word... #CLUTCH(period)
Such a great championship battle wont ever forget this night!! #14!!!!
I can almost hear me screaming from the house lol
First ballot Hall of Famer 🏁
🏆🏆🏆
The best chase I've seen!
been a fan of Tony since 2001. What a hell of a race SMOKE. This Championship just proves how i'm right about you. Being one of the most talented, and best drivers in NASCAR history.
This will go down in history. The winner wins the championship.
I agree! And I think he'll come back in 14 (gotta represent your car #) fully recharged and a force to be reckon with. He is surely missed right now with him being out but I can guarantee 2014 will be a blast with him in it!
Greatest race I ever watched
One of the most exciting title races to date.
@76slippery I think it was a little bit of both. I think if Carl had won at least one race, he could've mathematically held Tony off, but that was the downside. Carl won 1 race all year long, and that was Vegas. I really though Carl was going to have more of a year like 2008. Tony went into the chase winless, and he comes out with the most wins all year, the championship, and making history.
The only sport you can tie at the end of the season and win a title. Why not a drag race between just Edwards and Stewart for 3 laps or something? I don't know any other sport where they use a tie breaker to decide a title.
Doesnt soccer use a goal differential in almost any league other than MLS.
Stewart won because he won more races then Carl
jamie thornton Considering the tie breaker was wins it’s pretty legitimate. It’s a season award.
😂 tears of joy
@TheThumper49 yeah, I hear ya...even better, Zippy is gonna head to SHR as Director of Competition! lol go smoke!
I’m a Smoke fan best race of his career except his last win. Tony is really the only driver to win multiple championships across different types of Motorsports. And I’m pretty sure he’s the only one to win a championship with three different names: Winston, Nextel, and Sprint. He should’ve kept Grubb as his crew chief til he retired in 2016
@TheThumper49 fairly certain busch got a nationwide championship in toyota in 09.
nascar sprint motor cup speed series
There could be another 10 Chases to come in the future but I don't think there'll ever be one so amazing like this one. Best championship race of the 21st century and tied with the 1992 Hooters 500 as the best championship race of all-time. IDC what NASCAR haters say about this but, that was the best championship fight in sports in 2011. Awesome job to Smoke!
@76slippery I agree. I said it before, and I'll say it again: I wasn't going to be a fan of the chase until Jimmie Johnson lost it. And I'll be excited for the 500 next year! I hope my boy, JG has an even better year next year than this. Jeff got 3 wins, and he was a real threat going in. His performance in the chase though, it was lacking. Hopefully Alan and Jeff get it worked together for next year, that way the long awaited drive for 5 will finally be completed!
I wish we knew what was said between Stewart and Edwards...
@LostHighwayFilms Only once have I seen it bigger: When he finally won at Indianapolis in 2005.
We had 1080p back then, but this video looks like it came from a potato.
And Stewart robs rousch of another!!!!
no he just came up clutch you butthurt bitch
