Tony Stewart Wins the 2005 Brickyard 400

No one forgot the post-race scene, when Stewart stopped his No. 20 Home Depot Pontiac in front of the Turn 2 suites, took a swig from a can of Coca-Cola from a fan and saluted his friends and family. Then Stewart drove back to the Yard of Bricks and climbed the front stretch fence in celebration with his Joe Gibbs Racing crew, like Helio Castroneves had done three and four years earlier after his consecutive Indy 500 wins.
“I wish I could put it into words,” Stewart said as he laid on the outside wall on the front stretch after climbing the catch fence. “Today’s been my entire life.”
“Smoke” won the Brickyard again two years later in another popular victory with the Hoosier faithful gathered at IMS. But perhaps no victory since Jeff Gordon’s triumph in the inaugural Brickyard in 1994 created such rapture in the massive IMS grandstands as Stewart’s magic carpet ride to a breakthrough win in 2005.

Man, to honor Tony being inducted in the Hall of Fame earlier this year, NASCAR really needs to upload this race in 720p60 and the I wish the same goes for both the 2002 and 2005 Homestead races (because the 2011 is already up). Now don’t try get me wrong guys but seriously, those were quite the fun races for Tony on my opinion.

Im a huge Stewart fan. In 05 I was watching this race and rooting hoping that Tony would win. I loved it when he climbed the fence. I believe that noah gragson also climed the fence after his big win in the truck series.

This is up there with Dale Sr winning the 500. I had finished work and rushed home, got there with 20 laps left. My dad and I literally losing our minds when Tony won. It was not a huge win but rather THE WIN of Tonys Career
