You may think it stupid, but I think after this election people should start voting for 3rd parties. A wasted vote yes, but hopefully if the number of 3rd party voters goes up, the 2 major parties will be forced to bring rank choice voting in. If greens got 10% of the vote, the libertarians got 10%… that’s 20% of votes the majors aren’t getting, that is election changing numbers.
You think 60M+ Americans would vote 3rd Party though? Seems exceedingly unlikely imo. We just need better candidates that aren’t 80.
@@tyler.walker don’t need too, if Dems lost 10% of their vote to greens they would never win another election , same if the republicans lost 10% to libertarians. What happens in an election where no one reaches 270? Do they do a run off election? Rank choice is just a run off with one round. But when you have rank choice, you go from 4 people running for president to 10 or more. No vote is wasted but people get to vote for who they want knowing that their vote will eventually end up with the lesser of 2 evils, or maybe a person they want to win.
@@tyler.walkernot a chance, but 10% means no one gets 50%. So what do they do in US, a run off? Do people with less then 50% of the vote get the electoral votes? Eventually you will get rank choice because the main parties will need those votes. Rank choice means you get to vote for who you want and your vote isn’t wasted.

I wish Hasan would endorse someone. There will never be a perfect answer for everyone, but at least some input for consideration would be nice. His lack of stance on candidates and conflicting opinions on activism are a few of the rare times i disagree.

The thing that Hasan ignores is that the US never had the same 2 parties since the beginning. At various points in American history, a 3rd party topples one of the 2 existing parties and takes its place. Notable example is Lincoln's Republican Party toppled the Whig Party.

I watch Hasan clips simply because he covers everything, but did he seriously just say that Jon Stewart makes the same jokes as him but a week later? I've never seen Hasan make a joke before. My dad loves Jon Stewart so I've always appreciated him.... but so many of his jokes and points follow what Hasan has said on stream in the last week. I follow a couple fan channels so sometimes I end up hearing the same clips a few times before I get the full segment, and I'm starting to feel like some of Jon's writers might be watching Hasan as well. Granted, some of Hasans jokes or points are probably taken from others but this Jon Stewart clip aligns a little too close to Hasans quick reacts. Kind of strange
