I am loving this season as a new mom because SO many people I know in real life or follow on social media are also having babies! It has been great to bounce ideas off each other and see what other new moms are finding useful. Our must haves are basically the same. My son is 10wks and when he was 2-3wks I also bought Taking Cara Babies and it completely changed our sleep situation! In the beginning I could not get my son to stay in the swaddle or sleep more than 1-2 hours at night. Who knew that newborns were SO strong?! He inevitably would end up in bed with us which is what we didn't want (for safety reasons among other things). Now he is sleeping 8-10hrs at night in his bassinet! Theo will get there too! You are laying the groundwork for him now and when he's maybe 7-8wks I'm sure it will click like it did for my son.
I also LOVE the silicon milk catcher, I have built a stash of 100+ ounces with it alone. I only use it once a day (first thing in the morning, especially now that my son is sleeping through the night). I have a Spectra pump and I haven't had to use it yet. I finally was able to get the SwaddleMe swaddles to work so those have been going well for us. I love bandana bibs because I just put them on my son and if he spits up or drools, the bib catches it even if he's sitting up. He loves his baby swing and I got him a mirror to look at himself for tummy time which cracks us both up! I didn't think we would use our baby monitor until he was in his own room, but it's super handy at night when he goes down at 7-8pm so I can stay up and not worry about hearing him. I also love the Owlet and it shows his sleep cycles and how often he wakes up and puts himself back to sleep at night. We have the Dohm and Hushh sound machines and I don't think I could even sleep without the white noise now lol and my last favorite things are the Copper Pearl burp cloths and the Milk Snob blankets, both of these are sooo good!

We have started using sleep sacks instead of swaddles because our daughter was trying to get out of the swaddle so much she was half naked when I woke up lol. The sleep sacks have been great. A big one for us is also pacifiers. I didn’t want to use them but she loves them after she eats and they calm her down because sometimes she thinks she is hungry and then takes the pacifier and passes out. Also a swing or bouncer that vibrates. Our daughter likes the noise and the movement. Like being in a car so I usually put her in her bouncer on vibrate so I can make dinner or do laundry or whatever. She loves it.

It’s amazing how quickly the get strong enough to bust out of swaddle blankets and even certain velcro swaddles.

Please mention (if any) which books and things you read while pregnant and now for your pregnancy and baby

Beautiful! I'd be interested in a video about the balance of taking care of your child and taking care of yourself if you feel like sharing about that :)

If he starts to really hate having his arms swaddled you should look into the love to dream swaddle up. My daughter loved this swaddle cause she could have her hands up by her face and it was snug enough she didn’t startle 😊

He’s gotten used to being swaddled with his arms down by his side. My friend let me borrow her love to dream swaddles and he does ok in it but I think he sleeps better when he’s more tightly snug than that for now.

The snap daytime clothes become a huge struggle at like 7-8 months when they become mobile. It’s like wrestling an alligator. Just never buy any snaps again 😂

Exactly. I see cute outfits and then see they’re snaps and I think “Why?!”

Oh no really? Hmm I don’t have experience with any others at this point yet but I know there are other prefolds that people swear by.

    If you’re engorged why can’t you pump? I didn’t know that 😨

It really depends on what kind of supply you are looking to have. If you want to produce more than your baby needs pump all the milk you can. If you want to feed on demand then not pumping all the milk out will let your body know it's producing too much
