- Just did the Garrett vnt-17, 3bar map, race pipe/egr delete, race pp746s, stage2 6puck clutch from a vr6, and a full straight pipe and cat delete. And the clip after is my car before all that with just a stage 1 tune and a clutch.

Thing casually pulls like a train, well done!
Thank you!!
Dude this is dope, I have a mk4 tdi and I've been looking into maybe upgrading the turbo just to make it that much more fun, I live in Cali so strict emissions here lol but definitely plan on doing some work. What do you recommend ? And what software you use to tune.
I would recommend getting a hybrid turbo from xmanturbos on Facebook! Also tell them preston blair sent you! Tell them what your plans are and they will recommend a good turbo for you, I would also get new injectors from them they sell them for a good price all pop tested and balanced ready to go!! Then I would get a side mount and race pipe. And then of course a tune! I use vagedc15p for tuning, and mpps-13 for uploading and downloading my tune.
Hey, im from the netherlands and i own a 99 mk4 tdi. The first mod what we do here is a remap of the engine computer. My tdi did go from 110hp to 150. And is alot quicker.. we call this “chiptuning” maybe you guys have heard about it.
Any chance you could help me get started with tuning my 03 alh? I'm running a stage 1 reflect tune at the moment but I'd like to make it better.
I’m gonna post a video of my so called stock brm that pulls like this. Previous owner said it was bone stock
I’m running 40lbs in my beetle 😂
not for long XD
That’s awesome
What is the horsepower on your beetle, I have one, 1.8T stage 1 200hp
@@prestofixit3518 just came back to this video because I got a 2003 tdi jetta 3 days ago and I did the beetle to my freind it’s still ripping lol
@@cars_on_street it’s running around 300
Are you getting any improvements in fuel mileage? I have a vnt17 .210 nozzles and stage 2 clutch, but no tune yet, is it worth the money?
Declan Janzen it is definitely worth tuning it!! I get about 44mpg with normal driving and around 36 when I drive it hard!! If you wanna get a custom tune done email me at pdiddy9393@gmail.com and I can set you up with a awesome tuner!!
@@prestofixit3518 Thanks, I might try to tune it myself, i'll let you know if I decide to get a tune. Sorry for late reply
You changed injector nozzles and turbo but didn't get a remap?? Your air fuel ratios will be all over the place.
Stage 5 without upgrading the injectors 🤔
It has race .230 injectors!!
I think my stock 2.0 tdi is about the same speed
How much has this all cost you so far, im getting a tdi for free from my buddy it just needs a heater. I want it to be quick lol nad not slow.
Hard to say lol, the parts aren’t cheap I’ll say that much. Turbo was over 1k by its self! Then injectors tuning and all the supporting parts! But it’s so worth it!
F**kin awsome dude what’s ur mileage like with stage 4
usually 40s that's a mix of city/highway if i take a trip on the highway its 50s
What is fuel economy like after that my TDI gets 800+ constant and I'm scared it'll be terrible
Highway I can get around 550/600miles out of a tank
Drive it steady and it shouldn't change much. Generally it all comes down to your right foot regardless of the mods on these engines.
Why are you complaining about the constantly good mileage you'll always get lol
Yo man is this the turbo Diesel engine? I have a 2001 vw Jetta TDI alh and I was wanting to do some tuning upgrades to it.
Yes sir! This is the ALH motor! Definitely worth upgrading parts and making it faster!
@@prestofixit3518 Do you have any recommendations on parts I should get? I have no clue where to start lol
@@luvyuubeats message me on Instagram! @thatgrey_jetta
@@luvyuubeats vnt17 or vnt17/22 bosio 520 race nozzles, automatic injection pump, stage 4 tune, fmic, upgraded intake and charge pipes. Cam, 3” exhaust, 3 bar map, pd intake, head studs, gauges. Don’t forget the gauges!!!!That’s exactly what I have on my 2001. It’s pricey, but it will be quick car! Don’t forget a better clutch and flywheel. And make sure you get a catch can and keep up on that timing belt
Did you have any clutch slipping problems?
Yes lol had to get a tune with less torque
What type of mpgs does it make?
I’ve been getting around 40pretty constantly, if I really try and be careful over gotten 49mpg on highway
Hi, i’m 16 years old and im looking to buy a fun driving car as my first one. I have been told by a friend that own a vr6, to buy a tdi alh because when you tune it, it has a lot of torque. So my question is: is a tdi very good for torque ? You stick in seat ? 😂 or it is not that impressive ? Because I really want something with a good amount of torque.
Jug3r I would say the tdi is quite torquier with a tune!! Stock is quite disappointing but just a simple remap makes a big difference and once you add a new turbo and start moving it it’s very nice!!
prestofixit Would you recommend a tdi or a mk5 2.5l
Jug3r a tdi all day!
I don't know why but...mk4s remind me of winter...i don't know why
Interesting lol I love winter!
sick! my bew tdi is slow af. Very jealous
Get a tune on it and it will be cruising!!
My mk4 jetta tdi hits 29psi but it doesn't have that much power, what am I doing
Is it tuned? Also running that high of boost is very dangerous without doing head studs! You risk blowing your head gasket.
@@prestofixit3518 yup don't worry, I did head studs, its got the 165whp lit from kermaTDI, but it doesn't seem as fast as yours. What kind of horsepower does your tdi make?
@@leviticus4063 I’ve never had it one a dyno so i would just be guessing. I think it’s probably in the 140/150? Range but I really don’t know. If you are still having problems with it being slow there is a few things you could check, does it still have the egr system on it? It so I would pull the manifold and clean it out and clean out the head up to the valves! It needs as much air flow as possible. Also my car is decatted, so that helps with back pressure.
I'll take a look at it if you have a Data log of a third gear pull from 1500rpm to rev limit.
What is the horsepower, no hate is it slow for Stage 4 😧
No idea about the horsepower, it’s a really old motor almost 400k on it so I’m sure it’s pretty low. I’m sure adding a cam would help up top.
You might not need the info any more.
But from what I’ve researched looking into doing my own “ALH” TDI. Is that no matter what you do to that motor (within reason), it ain’t going over 200 horse. It’s sadly the fate of diesels due to low revs. (And this motor being 2 valve)
The clutches used after 2000 suck so you’ll need a stronger one to not slip plus Injectors and a tune. Stage 3 is like 150 horse and stage 4 is 170~?
If you want to go higher you’ll need a euro Tdi turbo(VNT-17) The US models have a smaller turbo (VNT-15)
Imo the sweet spot is stage 3-4 for a daily driver, because top end is gonna be significantly more expensive and difficult to prop up.
Look at the torque figures if you can find them, because the biggest gains are in your low end from 1800-3800. It’s almost double torque.
A win to me IMO cause more torque and low revs means you get to feel the torque more times than a gti would going 0-70 😁
@@obtusewalrus6111 Yeah but in tuning world, stage 3 and 4 means a bigger turbo intercooller and all stuff that comes with it
@@cars_on_street thanks 😁. I couldn’t remember if the stage 4 needed the bigger turbo.
I love my little ALH I just gotta save the scratch to do they work 😂
TDI gang, lets get a walk around
Spencer_CS it’s not anything crazy lol, but I will try to clean it up and give you guys a walk around:)
My mk4 golf idles in between 8 and 1000 rpms is this natural
Yes it’s normal.
@@prestofixit3518 do you know what the reason could be why my car holds back when I excelarate
I really want to know what milage you are getting after all these upgrades
Highway is around 46mpg city is like 40s
You cant run stage 5 without a 17/22
thats a 7-8 second 0-60
Major Architect which is pretty bad for a stage 4 . I would expect 5sec
@@Pentax67 Its a TDI, these are slow as balls stock... They're economy cars.
Damn, 0-60 in around 8 sec😲😲😲😲 i got to do that to mine too
It’s hard to tell, but if you watch first and second even third you can see the rpms jump and not the speedometer. My clutch was barely holding it lol I plan on doing a new clutch hopefully stage 4, then I wanna do headstuds and a lift pump! Then we can rev it out to 5500rpm and that should help the 0/60 a good amount maybe down to 6s would be nice!!
My dsg golf gt sport does 0-60 in 6 seconds flat.. 220hp
I have a slammed BEW TDI Malone tuned. MK4 BEETLE.
Running 25lbs in my 99 AlH jetta, all I have is an EVRY mod lol
Interested in a TDI. but I do not know if it’s gonna be fast enough for me. I have a k041.8t right now with stage 3 reflect software.
Joe S. Well, I have nothing but great things to say about the tdi!! They are tons of fun to drive and are really torquey!! But definitely lack top end power again comes with supporting mods! I recently did a new upgraded intercooler and it definitely added some to the top end. But with you going from a 1.8 stage 3 I think you might be disappointed, unless you like 300ftlbs at 2100 rpm
Yeah but your mpg start over 50 and go up as you add power in a tdi
@@prestofixit3518 Sold my 1.8t k03s, would have to look at the graphs to check the lower rpm but it made 300lb+ of torque st 2800 rpms and made 230WHP. That was with custom tune, intake, exhaust stock AWP injectors and no meth. Still had lots of room to move up.
If you haven't logged your car yet, I'd highly recommend it as most of those off the shelf tunes are horrendous. IMO, waste of money. I call them Melt or Knock tunes.
@@prestofixit3518 With a unitronic Shelf tune. My 1.8t was pulling max timing -12 and still pinged. Unitronic tune requested maximum readable boost at 2000 rpm with a 14.7 AFR. Also had injector duty cycle maxed.
Most tuner guides will have guidelines for properly tuning a vehicle and Unitronics tune crossed every one of those lines.
Should have held the actual power band.
What do you mean? I took it almost to red line she loses power around 4K
Stage 2 is about 26 psi 👍🏻
I hate fucking "Stage 69" crap that is mostly like VW/Audi and Subaru nowadays m can u pleasentell me what mods "Stage 5" actually entails as someone looking to do a ALH swap into a Nissan 240-280 Z car.
Well. It has a race pipe, full egr delete, race .230 injectors, vnt17 with a billet wheel, lift pump, upgraded side mount, 3bar map, stage 3 6puck clutch, tuned for 26psi with high idle, de catted, full straight piped, arp head studs. Probably a few things I’m missing. Ideally I would like to put a colt stage 3 cam in and double head springs, and an 11mm pump or even 12.
@@prestofixit3518 Thank you.
That's the dumbest swap I've ever heard of
Imagine how fast this would be on good diesel!
What do you mean good diesel?
@@prestofixit3518 as I’m not American diesel, I live in Europe where we have a different grade diesel that makes more power and lubricates fuel pumps keeping diesels lasting forever, we also never have to carbon clean diesels over here
That is awesome! I wish we had that here!
@@prestofixit3518 and I wish we had big Diesel trucks, all we have are like 3.0d Toyota Hilux’s and stuff like that I want a Cummins!
That’s not stage 4 more like generic flash map
Not a true stage 4
Chloe Stephenson has been turned down for my clutch
This is not stag3 dud3 why u li3 xd xd
Please hmu
What’s up?
@@prestofixit3518 so I have a 2000 Jetta, ALH, and i tried swapping my switchblade into my key fob and broke my immobilization device not knowing what it was, now its immobilized, how hard would it be to put the ecu out of my parts car(mated with my current key fob) into my car, or should I have someone write me a tune
My stock golf tdi runs better than that.. you should check your tune
Post a video let’s see it!
My stock passat b7 is as fast as this 🤷♂️
375k weak, im at 415k :D
Slow as piss
Slow
That slow af my gti stock way faster
this is a tdi not a gti
I would hope a gti would be faster than a tdi lmao...
Yes gti has probably more power stock than my stage 4 tune lol
Chloe Stephenson can’t compare to a tuned TDI to a gti, especially the mpgs and the torque dude
A true stage 4 TDI would make a stock GTI look silly.
sick! my bew tdi is slow af. Very jealous
It made the car so much more enjoyable!!
Slow
Thanks
