    Thanks for the post,
I own a lot of acoustic guitars and I do perform some repairs, I am not a pro by any stretch of the imagination. I want to attempt a re fret on my own on an old Alvarez 5024. It’s not worth much as instruments are valued but the one I own has such a nice neck and tone. It’s a 400.00 job at my local luthier, which I do not want to spend. This video has been helpful since I am dealing with a bound neck situation.

I'm glad you shared this. I was curious on what this job would cost. $400 actually doesn't seem like a bad price for a full re-fret with the amount of time and patience involved in ensuring it is correct. I can see how it would be questionable to do on a cheaper instrument, though.

I don’t understand why you would level the frets when there is relief in the neck. Shouldn’t the fret height follow the wood in the neck as different relief preferences would throw the leveling off? Maybe I’m not understanding properly.

I can't figure out why mostly all acoustic guitar makers don't put mini jumbo frets on their guitars. I have a new all solid tiger stripe mahogany and it's a beautiful guitar in every way except for having the common size round ended frets.

Is it Ok if I use a 2.7mm fret? The original fret is 2mm but I don't like the feel of it.
