Happy Thursday Taste of Trini family! I got a lot of questions like "What exactly is Peas Roti? Never heard of it". It is similar to Dhalpuri, Aloo Puri, Yam Puri, but it is made with pureed pigeon peas instead. The thin, soft dough is filled with delicious seasoned pigeon peas and then cooked on a tawa or griddle. It can be served with curried or stewed dishes, or even eaten on its own (like how I eat it). I hope this video is helpful and informative! Have a great evening!
I so glad I have seen this video! This is my Birthday day dish I want to make! That with some curry shrimp and or chicken, ! God bless my friend and family.. And your baby to come..so happy for u ❤
Oh wow, the pimentos made the finished roti look so appetising! This video is a triumph of clarity and instruction and I think anyone could make this fabulous roti if they follow your method. You are tempting me back on the path of carbs 😆😋👍
They look amazing!! I can't wait to try to make these. I had them in a restaurant called Lallos in Fort Lauderdale here in Florida and I fell in love with them just as much as I did the Dhalpuri. I love your channel. Thank you so much for sharing.
hi reshmi this is sally i remember when my mom make peas puri for us she would serve it with curry chicken reshmi i just love watching you cook keep up the amazing food
I am SO happy I found this because I live in Brasil(Guyanese ) and I need to make some puri for a show but in the 8 years I have lived here I have not seen ANY yellow split peas!!!! So I was wondering if I could make it using the green split peas and low and behold this video pops up. Girl THANK YOU, you have saved the day and added yuh own spice to it wit dem colours and tings....I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. Nu subbie here :) keep it hot and spicy, Blessings.
I have to say I never heard of it myself but i am so wanting to try this roti it looks so good I would love to make this for my husband he is vegan your video is the best i am enchanted with this pigeon peas roti thank you for your mom amazing recipe I said it before you are a great teacher girl why you not teaching a class I am still getting complements on your bread recipe

Awww, I'm happy that this brought back fond memories for you. Thank you so much for your kind words. Much love and kisses to you and Alejandro. Stay sweet 💜
Also, is there a reason that most trini recipes use all purpose flour instead of whole wheat flour, considering the fact that is, basically, Indian cooking, right? Btw, you and your mom seem sooo nice!💐
Happy Thursday to you going to try it out for Divali ,Reshmi could you please do a video on Pokra recipe please l been asking for it for a long time 💞👏👍
Happy Thursday to you too Reshmi and your viewers . Hope all is well with you and your viewers . I just love watching you cook with such passion for food. Very inspiring indeed. You are a very good teacher . I remember growing up with this Peas Paratha Roti . My nanny use to make this on a regular basis for us and she would serve it with curry egg and potato/Alloo . You surely bought back memories for me today and I thank you for that . Excellent recipe as usual from you . You are the bestttttttt !!! Keep up the good work as usual . Have a wonderful evening and a good day ahead of you tomorrow and take care and be safe and thank you again .
Thank you! I never had it with Curried Egg and Aloo but I will try it! Glad to bring back fond memories of your Nani. Thank you for the kind words always 💜
Hey, there are a lot of reasons why the dough will break or tear. Maybe you didn't knead it enough, or you didn't oil the roti on the tawa, or possibly because you rolled it out too thick. Practice makes perfect 👍🏼😉

Taste of Trini Yessssss
Thank you. Finally I will know what this taste like lol
Looks yummy
That would go good with curry okra Aloo
You can also fry the peas in a little oil with some chopped seasonings instead of boiling (on low heat).
She did not put one of the most important item which is grind roasted greera /cumin and garlic.is also grind into the dhal /split peas.
I
This was so well seasoned. Everything you make is well seasoned with fresh ingredients and I love that. I believe in "fresher is better".

You can, but if you can get frozen peas then you should use that instead. The texture and flavour of canned peas is different.

Also, is there a reason that most trini recipes use all purpose flour instead of whole wheat flour, considering the fact that is, basically, Indian cooking, right?
Btw, you and your mom seem sooo nice!💐
I'm not sure. Usually if whole wheat is used, it's mixed with white flour too.
Thank you, my mom is truly the best person ever 💜
Happy Thursday to you going to try it out for Divali ,Reshmi could you please do a video on Pokra recipe please l been asking for it for a long time 💞👏👍
Okay cool, I will try to post it before Divali 😉 Sorry I took so long.
Why not blend the green seasoning with the green peas and the roti is smoother
😋

Yum! 💐 What brand of Pigeon Peas did you use and where did you buy them?
I used La Fe and I got them on Liberty Avenue at a market. The Goya brand is also very good.
