I can totally relate to peter always going "that's really pretty", "that's beautiful", that's really cool", "gorgeous". I think every photographer has his own catch phrase to express how much they like what they just shot!! Plus it helps the model feel better and keep doing what you want her to do!!
100% thank you
It does definitely help the model. Have my phrases, the main being "gorgeous" but i say it as if I am over acting it like "Gooooorgeous dahling!"
@@PeterCoulsonPhotographer you should put those phrases either on a t-shirt or the backs of your existing ones 😊
We old timers know that there is nothing like good window light. Amazing results, Peter. RaRa also looked sensational, something very alluring about her.
Thank you
Love your "shack", Peter ---- lush, nature and all that wood --- :) The light flows nicely off RaRa in almost a Vermeer painting === painting with light! One of the shots of RaRa reminded me of a photo by the British fashion art photog David Bailey. Bravo:) Love the shot of RaRa with her face at the widow and you shooting from outside --- colors like Vermeer.
Thanks
Wow! Some incredible shots Peter...and yes,I thought the lens flare was cool as well😊
Glad you enjoyed it
Fantastic results! Wow, the diffused light there is so gorgeous and Peter’s composition is next level. Well done all.
Thanks heaps Tim
Fantastic set of images and RaRa is absolutely stunning!
Thank you
Nothing more important than communication, between artists. Loved this Peter and Ra Ra. ; )
Yes, Thank you
Peter, you are sending important message - don't be afraid of light even if it doesn't promises good results. This all video is about using small amounts of light and getting out of usual comfort zone, for getting amazing results. I would even say, this is a bit of old school light reading technique from film days, although, for me this ambient is very inspiring...
Thanks so much
Bam. Great video. Watching it for the third time. I like how you are looking for the light. I like watching how she looks one way when she is just sitting during the video. But then when she looks at the camera. She does "that" thing with her eyes.
Thanks so much
Great way to wake up this morning. Thanks!
Enjoy!
Awesome my friend the pictures is fantastic ❤
I'm glad you like it
Awesome! Thank you so much Peter and Bec for this educational footage!
Glad you enjoyed it 😁
You made my Sunday morning -- what beautiful shots! Gorgeous.
Thank you
I have exactly the same china cabinet, a wedding present to my late grandmother who married in Melbourne in the 1920's - loved the setting btw.
So cool! thanks
I really dig your house, Peter! Gorgeous shots as always, Peter and RaRa! 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Thanks so much! 😊
Love this, but I especially love the table. Gorgeous. As is RaRa.
Yes! Thank you!
Definitely love the location, amazing how you can capture amazing pictures in any location just by knowing how to capture the shot. Love the black and whites as always.
Thanks heaps
Love those basic shots out of the studio with no artificial lights or any props (except that broom without a stick that came to life hehehe)
Time flies when Peter does his tricks
Thanks for sharing, tada !
Thank you
Your house really looks like a beautiful place to unwind from the day.
Thank you yes it is
Always incredible results, no matter the location. You inspired me so much since meeting you I you last Sydney workshop. Thanks, Pete.
Awesome! Thank you for your support
Your work is so simple, i think there is the magic. Thank you for share that video. You are a inspiration for all of us.
Thank you so much 😀
Very calming photos you two were able to pull off in this unique light - you and RaRa work so well together and make it seem easy breezy.. Great video you three 😇
Thank you so much!
Gorgeous light, gorgeous model, gorgeous results as usual ...
Thank you so much!
holy crap! those window shots are tremendous! thanks for sharing!
Glad you like them!
Great video. RaRa is a treasure. Beautiful house. Starting to get jealous about the Leica. Looks like it weighs a lot less than my gear. Funny how the dogs rule the home. Loving the lens flare with Rara's perfect hair day.
Thanks for watching!
@@PeterCoulsonPhotographer Really enjoyed your seminar. I have applied what I learned to a headshot assignment with a corporate client, editorial day in the life with another corporate client, portraits for magazine shoot, and of course, my passion project, lobstermen and their boats. I prayed for the good Lord to send me Bec or Rara or Shay or Maddie or Meika. My prayers were not answered. Instead, the Lord above sent me lobstermen, big and burly, weathered from the sun and the wind, with clear eyes and full hearts and a day that starts at four in the morning. The fashion statements are usually bright orange with Grunden's the absolute trend setter in outerwear.
Reminds me so much of the late 1960s early 70 with the lens flare and soft focus that was all the rage. Lucky you concentrate on B+W with that green cast, that reminds me of the Fuji stock from the late 70s early 80s. I used to hate the stuff when we couldn't get Kodak for weddings.
Have a great holiday period all of you!
Thanks heaps
Loved the lens flares & window reflections...
Hello there 👋👋, how are you doing today? Hope you’re having a wonderful day. God bless you!❤️❤️
Beautiful light, amazing image's as always.. Some are quite stunning...
Glad you like them, thanks
The lens flare is EPIC! Love it... I often loose the hoods on my lenses to give a dreamy look. The h/blad 100 2.2 always delivers in that way for me. Beautiful work as always sir. Lovely home too.
Thank you 😁
Nice work. Ra Ra was a natural.
thanks
Exquisitely working the pose Ra Ra
Loved it! As a Santa model and amateur photog , you have taught me volumes, making my work with much easier with pro shooters. Thanks so much, Peter, Becs and Ra Ra ... and Merry Christmas!
Thanks Paul and Merry Christmas to you and the people in your life
Pics turned out awesome. Love the cabin also!
Thanks
Really informative as always. The shack is a fab venue - Ra Ra at photographer helps of course!
Thank you
Ra Ra once again made your life easy! Some really nice shots there. Flare didn’t really bother me, likely Peter’s influence on me… . Thanks!
Great to hear!
I dont know how dark it would be, but those windows would be amazing on a rainy day.
yes they are
Hardly a shack. Beautiful place. When I stopped looking at RaRa I noticed your table, it is awesome. I wonder what you could do with a Nikon Z5. It would be cool to see what talent like yours can do with just about any camera-I love how you manually focus.
Thank you
4:17 Thank You very much 🙏 You have answered my question about framing. Also, showing the pictures to the model and asking if they like : very important. Final lesson : position with light, got it. Thanks and Best Holiday Greatings Wishes from Canada.
Glad it was helpful, thanks
Your framing is always interesting and fantastic, Peter. I'm also impressed with your use and manipulation of the natural light that was available to you on this shoot, the end results are just (for lack of a better description) sumptuous. I hope you're not offended when I say the shots taken in this session remind me of some of the glam shots taken in the 70's for "Celebrities at home" spreads that used to appear in Life and other higher end magazines. RaRa certainly looks the part of a 70's movie Goddess at home as she eagerly awaits someone named Ryan, or Scott. lol As always thanks for letting us watch you work from behind the scenes, always enjoyable and educational! Cheers - Dave
Thanks Dave I love the 70’s
how many mm lens?
Amaaazing!! Thank you so much.
Glad you liked it!
Such a beautiful place! Hard to find somewhere like that in the states. I can't even shoot outside my house because it's just houses all around me and people are always watching you.
@@Mack_au Yep totally get that people get super weird now days if you have a camera. It's actually better if you have a model with you because then at least they usually don't think you are taking pictures of them. Australia seems really pretty, There are a few Australian photographers I follow and they always seem to find beautiful places to shoot on the streets and around where they live. Most of the USA is ugly suburban sprawl. The town I live in is nothing but strip malls and ugly buildings. No pretty streets to walk down and shoot. You can get a city fashion look in most of the downtown areas but that's not always what you are looking for.
Your place is perfect for a photographer inside & outside
Thank you
@@PeterCoulsonPhotographer You're welcome & great work
Really fun to watch - working the location. You seem to effortlessly find multiple interesting settings, compositions, and looks. (Yes, I know it's not "effortless" - just looks that way.).
The real question though - who's chirping in the background? :)
Thanks my budgies
Great stuff, Peter. It makes me want to get out there and shoot but I'm not doing that at the moment. Priorities :)
Hopefully you have time to shoot soon :)
love the vid. nice venue you have there. man my knees ached seeing you sitting on the floor and im younger than you are! too much crawling on concrete for me, i suppose...
RaRa is stunning as always and YES! a price tag will pop up when you least expect it. 90% of the non-photographers would never have noticed and probably 50% of shooters wouldnt either. makes it better for us that we do!
Glad you enjoyed
Love it
I wish we could see more of the pictures he took.
Great job thou
They will be on my blog soon
DING !!
Nice job!
Thank you! Cheers!
thanks master
You are welcome
Awesome shoot and pictures! RaRa is fantastic as well! What lens did you use? I love the softness and feel of it.
Thanks, all the camera stuff is in the description
Oh I forgot to extend the info. Thanks!
Beautiful 🙌👏👌👍😍🥰😘💋
Great video. My wife is going crazy for your house any chance you could do a walk around of the outside?
Yes I can thanks
Great work again👍👍👍
Peter, what do you think about green reflections?
thanks, no not for black and white
I was just thinking that RaRa was having a good hair day. Love the diffused light through the windows. Did you use a polarizer to kill reflections when shooting from the outside to the inside of the house, or just move so the reflections weren't so prominent, or focus past the windows to eliminate reflections? Happy holidays to one and all.
Thanks I just changed my direction to put the reflection in the place I wanted it
I always love your content - thanks for sharing! One thing I noticed today that I never considered before this on your videos: every shot was made with the camera held traditionally. On a few of the images made here, I would have switched to a portrait orientation. Does Peter always shoot landscape? Is this a style choice or is there a reason for this other than preference?
Thanks!
Thanks, my eyes see in landscape
I really Love the one inside where RaRa was beside the window and you did one with less window where she was very close to the black wall and narrow window show n only. The lens flare outside was very nice , Outside you were shooting at 1/25th ISO 400 or 1/125th?
1/125th
What do you do with all these wonderful pics of these gorgeous models? Are they contracted shoots?
sold or used in my or the models folio
When you are 'in studio'' what is that mobile stand that you sometimes have your camera mounted on?
The brand of stand I uses has been discontinued, but this is very similar www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/4986-REG/Manfrotto_816_Super_Salon_280_Camera.html
Cool video Peter. RaRa is name of girl? 😃
Rhiannon
Do you get green color cast from the trees there?
no I do black and white
I love your puppy. I'm sorry I don't watch or listen enough that I didn't already know you had one. What is he or she and what is his or her name? Do you share that information or does she prefer to keep her identity offline? 😉
Her name is Bella and she is a Yorkshire Terrier
@@PeterCoulsonPhotographer Bella 😊😊😊... I'm going to guess here but I'm guessing you let someone else name her and it was a niece daughter or granddaughter who was in love with a certain vampire series, am I right?
I bet Bella is very sweet and very pampered. I love puppies, but I have kitties. More of a cat person with more of a cat suitable life. If you care, to see just how much of an animal person I am Google cat rescue guide and at that point we will have been both introduced to the other. 😀😀😀
No that was her name when we bought her
@@PeterCoulsonPhotographer Well, I bet you $10 that if you ask the previous owner how and why she was named Bella, it'd be because a little girl or maybe not so little of woman was a fan of Twilight. The lead female character's name was Bella. My brother's daughter named their dog years ago, Bella. Lots of dogs and lots of baby girls were named Bella because of Twilight. You should at least know the origin story of your puppies name. 😜
Missing Beck 🤩
What Program are you using to edit your photos to B&W?
Lightroom , ACR or photoshop
We want photoshoot vedio of Bac
Just wondering: I saw a lot of shots I would have taken with the camera in portrait/vertical, but Peter hardly ever seem to do that. Any reason for that?
Probably personal preference. Some people find it easier to compose horizontally rather than vertical. Or vice versa.
My eyes see in landscape
I LOVE Peter's house! Budgies and all. Is that a snake in that enclosure I see? Can I pet-sit for you when you and your wife travel? You may have a hard time getting rid of me at the end but I promise I won't drink up all of your best scotch. RaRa is such a great model and seems so easy to work with. Everything you want from her, she gives. And every time you ask her to do something or ask her if she's comfortable she says "yes" . Nothing seems to put her out.
Yes RaRa is an amazing model and person
what is the dog's name?
Bella
Gorgeous Shack Peter.. photography pays tons of pennies.
Forget studio when u have a Gorgeous shack.
Thank you I preferred to work in my studio and then come home and relax in my shack
Can you explain why she rolled up her dress in her hands? Was this to show more leg or force her hands and arms into a certain position? I appreciate your guidance.
she did what she did to make her feel something
