- We spent a week in Fiji doing some awesome beach shoots, and in this tutorial you will see why Peter loves shooting outside in the middle of the day with no reflectors or scrims! This is mostly a fly-on-the-wall, and you will get to hear his comments as he shoots both photos and video.

I love how Bec uses her hands and arm gestures during intros -- it's almost like a dance as she sways in and out of the field of vision :) as in don't worry, i'm just waving, not drowning :)
Peter you're are a gifted Photographer and Bec is a great model. I love how she goes from silly to hyper focused when your ready to shoot. Your direction and vision coupled with her awareness of how to captivate you with her expressions produce some truly stunning images!

Great video. I don't ever remember seeing Peter shoot portrait. Is this because it fills the youtube screen better on the video. Several shots in today's video I thought would be better tighter, but in portrait to remove the bits at the side and see more Becs (which is always a great thing).

Very much enjoying this particular bit of thinking. I'm headed into deep snow with a wonderful model/friend this next week and some of the same considerations might apply. I'll try to remember the "not a tree branch out of the head" idea and hopefully the rest of it will work out!

Sorry to see the weather is awful, we have lovely rain in the UK. What is it with Bec’s, point a camera at her and she becomes another woman. Can you take a bad photo of her, looks like you can’t! What one hell of a job you have, I bet you a glad to get home at night 😂

@Bec: Many thanks for posing in this session. The best video to close the year, in the paradise. I think it is very good for you to stay close to these tall and stylish trees; they are your best companions; I like a lot the way you rest your body on the trunks. I used to take naps, in a swing, at noon, under the Sun, during the winter, covered by a blanket; I will never forget those moments.

@Peter: Many thanks for the explanations. One of the most difficult photographs is when the Model is in front of the palm tree, down in the beach, on the sand; I would never have thought this was a good spot because the photographer is in the sand and the Model in the shadow. Many thanks for mentioning what you like from the 90 and 75 lenses.

Another great video. Quick question if i may. I notice you always seem to shoot in landscape even when your final image is in portrait orientation. Is there a particular reason for that? Thanks.
I can catch a Portrait out of the landscape picture for a cover, but I can't cut a landscape out of a Portrait for a two page spread, and my eyes seen landscape😁

Great video on how to use the harsh sunlight to your advantage and how to use the sand as a reflector. Ra Ra is just as good on the other side of the camera as she is in front, she needs a pay raise for pulling double duty.😅

you literarily said at the start of the video about not wanting trees coming out of her head and then you make a point about how you like it lol. I remember when I started shooting I did a shoot and I loved it until a friend pointed out about the light pole coming out of her head lol after that comment its all I could notice in that shoot.
It was my little joke, only camera club photographers see things like that, :)

For me not so stunning. In this light situation I myself always take a flash.
This shooting shows also, that the view of the model is the most important thing for a good result.
