    Another awesome episode. I was wondering myself about the default on a system failure, full stiff seems like the best senario.

    This may be a stupid question lol........but If the shocks are so smart...why is there a need for 3 settings. Why cant the computer adjust for all conditions and eliminate the button.

      It is a good question and I believe this has been answered several times. We produced another Smart-Shox video at the end of last season worth checking out.

    Great interview as always, and thank you! There’s so many questions about these systems. For example, I drive a Cadillac CT6 with magnetic ride control. Same thing ,but different. It measures the road surface at 1000 times per second, via camera. TheBRPsmartshox arekindadoing the same thing, but by feel. Different modes, that aren’t perfect yet, but make a huge difference. These will soon be available on other models, the same asGM,when the they get the “bugs” worked out. This said, BRP, is again making history in engineering, by offering what the others will TRY to copy!! This isn’t a 12 year old chassis, but something to try to move the sport/industry forward. This can’t help but bring new riders into the sport! It’s not only mountain riders that enjoy this, but trail/ cruisers, that make the winter passion work! As President of a small, local club, I commend BRP, ON MAKING/ producing snowmobiles for the average trail rider! Our membership has increased 45 percent in the past 6 years! Thanks for all you Doo!!!

    Haha this is just insane. Honestly though I think that's why there is such nostalgia for the good old days. Raw unadulterated power and a sense nervousness that the new sleds just can't go back to

      Hard to keep track of all the regions, but some dealers (including our own) have been receiving sleds. Trust us when we tell you; Ski-Doo and every other OEM are doing everything they can to get sleds delivered.

    Do you think they would develop sxs shocks with KYB as well? I know KYB has been their snowmobile shock brand, just interesting to see them using two different companies under the "SmartShox" umbrella. Can't wait to see what Polaris and Arctic Cat/Yamaha do to respond! Maybe a WE system or maybe Fox gets into the game on snowmobiles too?!

    • @kwmiked
      @kwmiked 2 роки тому

      If it was WE I wouldn't buy. WE are the biggest pile of junk shocks that are branded as hi performance shocks I've ever got. Hopefully they offer a reg oil FOX shock on the Polaris sleds with Compression and Rebound adj. U can't beat that set up. With elc shocks u are limited by not being able to tune the Elc side of it. As of now anyway

    Why isn’t it on the front shock in the rear skid

    • @snowtrax
      @snowtrax  2 роки тому +2

      Good question! From our perspective, it's a cost vs benefit trade off. For more advanced riders with more $ in their jeans it would be nice to have. R-Motion is a 100% rising rate motion ratio rear suspension design and the rear arm does the majority of the work in controlling bump absorption along with adapting to rider weight spring pre-loads. The other big element of Smart-Shox is automatically adjusting to manage weight transfer / ski pressure (steering control), which is mostly controlled between IFS and Rear Arm adjustments...so while the front arm shock has lots of purpose (and you can still adjust manually) its overall effect isn't as dramatic on handling characteristics. That's our two-cents for what its worth.

    Will they put a turbo on the 850 for the backcountry? Yamaha has turbos on many of their sleds including their crossover.

    Speaking of revalving, would your average tech be able to rebuild the snark shocks? Will they be able to get revalved for the bigger fellas that may need a stiffer suspension to to compensate for their size? Or will these have to be taken to the dealer or sent to KYB to have them rebuilt?

    • @snowtrax
      @snowtrax  2 роки тому

      There will definitely be a longer list of step-by-step instructions, but like any shock there will come a time when rebuilding them is necessary to maintain optimal performance. Also the basic premise on how the shocks work hasn't really changed. What has changed is that the clicker function for High and Low speed compression along with rebound is now monitored and automatically adjusted for you. If necessary, you can still adjust the dampening curve up or down with a revalve depending on your weight / rider preference but you'll want to ensure you have a suspension tech that really knows what they're doing.

    • @kwmiked
      @kwmiked 2 роки тому

      The shock rebuilds like any other shock. Its the electronic part that is in question! Without being able to change the algorithm of how the shock changes comp/rebound then your pretty much stuck with what u got, then thats where time and feedback from people come into play to the shock rebuilder so they can valve it the best they can so it works best for the user with the algorithm thats pre-installed. They have this figured out on the UTVs but some still need to send shocks back a 2nd time cause rebound is off or whatever.

    Skidoo answered " a failure " very well. Built to be reliable. They wouldnt want to talk about any failures.
    Hope to take a rip on a machine with smart shocks this season.
    My 850 xrs handles like a dream already. Can just imagine how sick smart shocks would be.
    Few years ago when i bought a 800 tnt i couldnt believe how you could just rip right into corners and how the machine held. Blew me away. Then my new 850 xrs blew that away.
    Can imagine how blown away id be on this machine !
    First rip of the season is almost here. Snow all around me now.
    Cheers all

  • @kwmiked
    @kwmiked 2 роки тому

    What about tuning the shock per user? Is there anyway that the dealer or even aftermarket change the algorithm so it works how u want it?
    I only ask this because of getting so many sleds that people review and say they are the greatest, put the sled on the trails where I ride and the suspension is complete garbage unless its freshly groomed trail. This obviously shows the lack of testing for average weight person and "Real" trail conditions. Not a fake test track

  • @darrendesautels5871

    Another useless gimmick product from BRP. Notice this buggy doesn’t have their last useless gimmick adjustable carbides.
    A complete sled that a rider can’t service or maintain. An XRS used to be a benchmark trail sled that was just straight out the best you could get. . Now it’s just a gimmick package targeted at those riders with the thickest wallet. My worst riding experience was on a BRP product. Never again. If you can’t afford to get rid of these sleds every 1 or 2 yrs, yer in fer a lot ofheartache
