  • Let me introduce you to the VCMC from Befaco. It takes all your Eurorack CV modulation, notes and gates and maps them into MIDI so that your DAW or your MIDI synth or soft synth can be controlled and played from your rack. With VCMC you can incorporate soft and hard synths into your Eurorack workflow - that's blooming excellent!

    A quick note about mapping faders to parameters: in the VCMC controller script for Bitwig Studio the 8 faders are automatically mapped to the device's remote controls, making things much easier to set up (no need to use MIDI learn or manually entering CC values). Once you've set up your mapped patch you can save it as a preset in Bitwig Studio. This also means that when you load a factory preset, parameters are already sensibly mapped and ready for action.

      Darn it, I wish I knew that before I made the video! Although I was working on a pre-release version. Sounds brilliant! But can i ask if the faders remained mapped if they are combined with the CV input? Because they tend to adopt the CV input CC number in sum and attenuation mode rather than their own so you have to remap them. Is the controller script in Bitwig already?

      @@MoltenMusicTech The script is still in progress, the CV/Fader link needs to be tested.

    Oh, lordy... I had been looking at the Expert Sleepers ES9, but it's really expensive. This looks like it does all the same CV-Midi stuff, at a far lower cost. My 0-Coast and Bitbox already have Midi-CV conversion inputs, so it's the Cv-Midi side I need, without duplicating what I already have. I have some new Erica modules along the way with 8 channels of cv control each, so... Looks like this is the option I've been holding out for!

    what can you say about latency with midi din cable? is it still feel modular with extternal midi?

      @MoltenMusicTech  4 роки тому

      I’m not feeling any latency caused by the midi cable - but it wasn’t something I was looking for.

    Hi Robin, before I take the plunge and buy this, could you confirm that I could trigger my Elektron Machinedrum with this? From what I understand the MD triggers each sound via the white keys. I basically want to set up the VCMC in place of a MegaCommand and get the MD doing polyrhythmic/Euclidean/probability trigs via the modular, for several sounds+1 to clock the tempo... And if possible, CV some CC's/use the faders as instrument HPF controls or whatever I feel necessary, for a live performance.
    Look forward to hearing from you.
    Best of wishes
    Nyall

      I think so, sure. You can set the VCMC to trigger whatever notes you want. But try asking Befaco - they would know exactly.

    Hello, is it possible to use the buttons to mute-unmute tracks on an elektron box for example? I would really like to use the first 4 faders and buttons of the module as a mixer for my digitone. Thanks

      @MoltenMusicTech  5 місяців тому +1

      Well they are MIDI buttons so if the Digitone can map MIDI from the buttons to the mutes then it's a yes.

    Great video - thx. Question: How are you getting the audio out of your Surface and back to the Eurorack? I assume it cant be via USB because thats the interface with the VCMC? I couldn't see anything plugged into the headphone jack on the surface?

    • @MoltenMusicTech
      @MoltenMusicTech  4 роки тому

      Usb audio interface - it’s not plugged back into the Eurorack.

      Molten Music Technology but you took output into the magneto so that was just the audio routed out of the USB audio interface and back into the rack via the Befaco Input module?

    Hey there! First of all thank you for your videos, you are now to blame for my entry into DIY modular! I've watched all your kit builds, but I'll be sourcing my own parts via BOMs. I think you don't do that, but you can save a lot of money and earn more knowledge from doing so. I need to ask something: from BOMs, I seem to conclude that Male and Female Pin headers, spacers, power connectors and mini-jacks don't have any reference/model number so they are "generic"? Is that so? Between builds did you find that any of those were the same? Same goes for ferrites and leds (just have to be careful about the colors). Materials like resistors, capacitors, ic's, diodes, potenciometers, trimmers and transistors seem to very specific, and usually have names and references you can link to mouser products.
    What modules would you recomend building first? AI001 is a must, but then I'm afraid that simpler modules like AI's ADRS might be easily replaced in a near future, thus being not a wise investment if you are trying to save some money.
    Thanks in advance, keep those videos coming, soon you will have millions of followers and views.

    • @MoltenMusicTech

      Hey thanks. I think those things are pretty generic and standard, just get the sizing and PIN numbers correct. Not sure about which kits to recommend. There’s no plan to what I do, I just see what come up.

      So you’ve got cv being converted into midi by the module which is then controlling the software on the computer. So, yes.

      What made you take the plunge into the most expensive of the ES's ? I was thinking of a ES3/6 combo to pair via ADAT as my first euro module (I have a Neutron and will be doing DIY for starters).I think I might need more ins in the future, but for a starting modular guy the ES9 might be an overkill. I won't be buying the ES8 because it is strictly USB, and I run a Windows computer with my audiointerface already connected, so I can't have two audio interfaces running at the same time. I must go via the ADAT path...

    • @bobbfett.musiclab
      @bobbfett.musiclab 4 роки тому +1

      The reason is that I have an old sound card without adat, and I heard that windows “as I am using” has problems with multiple sound cards. So for me it will be more expensive to buy a sound card with adat and expert sleepers than an es-9. Another thing that appeals to me is that I use only the es-9 for everything, it has 14 inputs, and via the web setup you have a mixer where you can set the internal levels, or if u want some of them to receive sound only. If you have adat its much cheaper with your solution.
      Vcv works plug and play with expert sleepers, and another reason is that I use audulus with my iPad a lot, and it can also only use one soundcard, and now I can use the phones out directly to my monitors, theres an attenuator next to it. They haven’t released audulus4 yet so you can only use the 8 outs, not the ins yet.
      Sorry if I’m unclear, it’s late and I am a bit drunk.
      Es3/6 is a great solution if u already have adat. I also have the neutron, it’s fantastic to expand with vcv rack modules. I’m also going DIY, there’s so many cool modules.
      Have fun with your euro adventures.

    Aw! Dude! I should get this, pack it into a 4MS Pod (No current rack space for it) and plug it back into the thru of my Endorphin.es Shuttle Control for MIDI feedback loops! Then, I can modulate the noise with the Fumana for sick resonance. Have you ever heard MIDI feedback? It's the sound of pure insanity. It's beyond Glitch.

      So... this device turns your eurorack into the ultimate MPC of your own design, basically?

    • @MoltenMusicTech
      @MoltenMusicTech  4 роки тому

      Sounds like you should do it. Not sure about an MPC - that’s all about the pads for me - but yeah you could wire it into samples
