Adrian you are truly an inspiration, when I was 17, I lost everything in a house fire. I wanted to be a guitar player so bad follow in my father‘s footsteps but unfortunately my father passed away in January of this year, he absolutely adored you. Among many other players you were one of the ones that he played a lot. Burning heart was one of the first songs I heard as a little kid. So I want to make it one of the first songs I learn on my new guitar that he got me when I turned 18. I’m having such a hard time learning the guitar, I’m starting to think Music isn’t for me but I really want to be a musician. So I also tell myself all the time do not ever give up. If all of my favorite guitar players and Musicians did music would not exist today. So thank you for not giving up I am sure it was not easy for you at first either so thank you. I heard the new album yesterday and I love it! I heard it on my Spotify account.I am now 22, my dad wanted to be a guitar player a famous one anyways he never made it. Unfortunately cancer got him first. And it took him quickly sadly.

You know, its weird but when I heard this song as sung by the vocalist, I imagined him looking exactly as he does. The music is entirely responsible for such a paranormal instance.
Same for the chick who sings, Trampoline, Shaed. Her voice is so inspirational due to the arrangement, the brain just knows she has a huge mouth, long neck and is a brunette.
Also the dude who sings "Why you have to be so cruel? Dont you know Im human too??"
His curly dark hair comes through in his singing.
I'm like 3 for 3 in three different decades. Utterly stupifying. 😂

    • @RealJap

I started Vandenberg in 1980. It was actually a hobby band. I was studying at the art academy. I was living temporarily at my parents' house, because my house in Arnhem burned down, with all my paintings and guitars and everything. I was messing around on the piano, you know, some bluesy stuff, stuff like that. Look, the grime of my father's fingers is still on here. - This is the piano? Yes, this is the piano. This has been in my parents' house since my early childhood. My father was a fantastic piano player, my sister is a classically trained pianist, she was practicing on it ever since she was young. There always was classical music and jazz in the house like that. That's why there were classical influences in the Vandenberg period especially. And that's why in various countries people concluded that I must have had classical schooling, but I can't read a single note! I don't know what I'm doing, I just follow my hearing. So, on the piano ... I was just conjuring that melody. And then I thought, wait a sec, I got this intro lying around somewhere. and at that time I recorded on cassette tapes, you know, and I thought I'll develop it further, it needs to have an ending,... There were a number of rock songs I had already written we had practiced them with the band, we recorded a demo tape. and I thought it is nice and complete if it also included a ballad, so I thought I'll go sit behind the piano and see what happens. so in fact it was a number like, let's toss something together on there quick, you know? We needed a demo video to see what the band would look like, so I rented a stage in Enschede, and we put two construction lights on there, so our pimply faces would be clearly visible. afterwards it embarassed us to no end, it is the video that's always shown with the song. Dutch radio didn't want to give it airtime, they thought it had no hit potential, but when it became a hit in America, then they had to. To my shock, when "Burning Heart" became a hit ... I was labeled the new guitar god. There was a big picture of me in this prominent english rock magazine with the caption: this is the new guitar god blah-blah-blah, and I thought, you know, shit I gotta practice! Because in that time I hardly did that. I was just playing for fun, these melodies came out of my fingers and that made me happy. You know, and then I started... practicing a few hours a day to get this pressure out of my head, like... Jesus man, something has to happen. Things turned out a little odd for me, since I was five I have been able to combine music and painting and eventually I went to the art academy, in stead of to music conservatory, my parents allowed both, they said: as long as you do something you can make a real profession of, you know? This was the cover of the third Vandenberg album. and I used to love to paint these.. very realistic... scenes that were actually impossible. Nowadays I also throw paint around, I work a lot with my hands, you smear it all over, you can see in that, it is a "burning heart" and I gave it a dedication: forever a burning heart for my Mickey, from your daddy, that was a moment of... a burning heart feeling, eventhough the song is actually less positive, the song is about a lost love and jealousy, "does it feel the same when he calls your name" , you know, what's it like with, are things the same with that dude as it was with me, you know? At that time I hadn't really experienced that yet, but I could imagine it, and if you live a rich life, you will experience it sooner or later. At that time I could never have expected that.. that song would put me on a life long journey, because with my present band Moon Kings we were playing that song in Tokyo, Japan for a crowd of 35000 and 35000 people chant along with it, you know? and I thought, you could never have imagined that, that song is 32 years old by now. It's very bizarre. I never could have thought... I would still be wearing hair up to my ass... and I'd be bouncing around the world with a guitar on my neck... that's really cool.

It's not his castle, I live within 10mins of it. Heh, I drove by it on my bike an hour ago. It's owned by one of his friends. From what i know, he has his atelier/workshop there.
