  • Jerusalem holds a special place in the hearts and minds of Jews, Christians, and Muslims. It is mentioned 667 times in the Old Testament and 139 times in the New. Although today the city boasts a population of over 770,000 people, its origins were humble.
In this video from Encountering the Holy Land: A Video Introduction to the History and Geography of the Bible, Carl G. Rasmussen gives a biblical history of the city of Jerusalem.

Jerusalem is still lost in sin. The penalty must be paid. The Messiah, Christ Jesus our Lord paid the penalty. Salvation is a free gift. We must recieve this gift.

The Holy Bible is the written Words of GOD in His interactions with chosen persons, race and humanity--comprising of the Old and New Testament as compiled by the Church that the Lord Christ Jesus established thru Apostle Simon Peter, the Rock: the first Pope in 4 AD.
This Book of books starting from the Creation in Genesis and part of the first 5 books called the Torah is likewise part of Tanakh, written originally in Hebrew-Aramaic language/s, including those of the Historical books, the Judges, Kings, etc. as called the OT, as well as those of the New Testament 27 books comprising of the Gospel, and the Epistles penned by Judaism convert-Saint Paul, James, Peter, et. al., which were translated into Greek, then Latin.
But, in the 16th century as Catholic monk, Martin Luther disagreed with the Church--he, together with Calvin, and other Reformers translated only a total of 66 books, removing the 7 Deutero-Canonical books written by St. Jerome's Latin Vulgate of 73 aggregate books. Such Reformation started the Protestantism and/or protestant churches hitherto as Christ Himself prophecies that there shall be division among believers, but one day to have one church, one faith, one baptism or "One Fold and One Shepherd."
Read the Bible, History, etc. !

The Concept of Palestine is deeply rooted in the collective consciousness of the indigenous people of Palestine and the multicultural ancient past. The name Palestine is the most commonly used from the Late Bronze Age (from 1300 BCE) onwards. The name Palestine is evident in countless histories, inscriptions, maps and coins from antiquity, medieval and modern Palestine. From the Late Bronze Age onwards the names used for the region, such as Djahi, Retenu and Cana'an, all gave way to the name Palestine. Throughout Classical Antiquity the name Palestine remained the most common and during the Roman, Byzantine and Islamic periods the concept and political geography of Palestine acquired official administrative status. This article sets out to explain the historical origins of the concept of Palestine and the evolving political geography of the country. It will seek to demonstrate how the name ‘Palestine’ (rather than the term ‘Cana'an’) was most commonly and formally used in ancient history. It argues that the legend of the ‘Israelites’ conquest of Cana'an’ and other master narratives of the Bible evolved across many centuries; they are myth-narratives, not evidence-based accurate history. It further argues that academic and school history curricula should be based on historical facts/empirical evidence/archaeological discoveries - not on master narratives or Old Testament sacred-history and religio-ideological constructs.
