We really enjoyed learning to cook Filipino food with our local friend Janice. This was a great meal that we will always remember and hold dear to our hearts!❤ 😊 🇵🇭
Barquillos are like wafer sticks or roll without the fancy flavoring. Enjoying your video here in Indiana. Already missed the so simple life in the Philippines 😊
Magic seasoning is basically MSG. Adobo is basically a stew with vinegar and lots of garlic and some soy sauce. It really needs to simmer in Vinegar until the meat is tender. Once tender I like to then brown the pork and separate the sauce to serve with the browned pork. In that part of the Philippines we sometimes add Achiote liquid so it turns a little red.
@3:48 those are barqullos, they have that sugar cone taste to it, you can eat it as it is with any drink especially coffee, personally I dip it on ice cream
Greetings from Summerlin Las Vegas. Just got back from the philippines and missing it so much. So i decided to watch Philippine youtube videos and here i am now watching your channel.
Every province has different version of cooking adobo. And my version is i think the simplest 😁 just put all the ingredients in one casserole including the liquid ingredients i.e. 1 chicken chopped add 1cup water, 1/2 cup soy sauce and 1/2 cup vinegar. Then slow cook until it reduces the liquid and becomes sticky sauce but not dry. That’s it my adobo. Simple, soft and yummy 😋 I love Adobong Pusit(squid)
Welcome back from you trip! Hope you had a good time! We also learned to cook Pork Lumpia and vegetarian Lumpia that our kids loved! We also tried Sisig! 😊
Great video, love that you guys always interact with the locals in Ph. Some local can't understand but you still try to communicate and give them compliment.
WOW! WOW! Love it guys! Cooking and eating the local food while traveling is a journey to the heart of a culture, offering a deeper understanding of the place you are visiting. I think it allows us to experience the flavors, traditions, and stories that define the community, creating a rich and immersive connection with your destination. By the way, Adobo is often seen as a versatile and economical dish because it can be made with affordable, readily available ingredients such as chicken, pork, or beef, and staples like soy sauce and vinegar.
We agree with your statement. The local food really is the way to connect with it's people and we really enjoyed this experience. It will be a memory we will always hold dear to our hearts... ❤️ 🇵🇭
@@WorldFamilyExplorersI imagine the addition of the vegetables...plus rice would help to stretch the servings to help feed a family for less money, as the meat would be more expensive than vegetables. 😊
I just googled "laurel leaves"...which it said are bay leaves...have a bag of those I use for chili & stews!😊 Seems like I'm all set except for the "seasoning packet"? which I could probably find nearby...there is a shop attached to a Filipino restaurant down the road that prob has it 😃
@@DianaTuTu29you don’t need to use the seasoning packet. It’s actually not good for you. US banned magic sarap (seasoning packet) if I’m not mistaken. I only use soy sauce, vinegar, bay leaves, garlic, onions, salt and extra black pepper and also sugar. I like my adobo spicy so I put chili peppers 🌶 😂. Some Pinoys marinate the meat first.
It is even better if you mix pork and chicken then cook then in one pot, it gives a good flavor along with all the adobo spice, now I am hungry, both of you are wonderful you seem to get along with local people love watching your video thanks for sharing
😋 Yummy 😋it is such a great way to enjoy the local cuisine by cooking it yourself, of course, with the help of Janice😊.. that's how it must be when you travel. Connor & 2 new friends enjoyed it too and then karaoke 😂 Great video!
Thanks for watching! 😊 Our cook friend didn't marinate the meat, but it was simmering for a long time on low heat with the soy sauce vinegar... we were just learning, and this is how she taught us... 🤷🏻♂️ It was delicious, though! 😋
there's so many ways people cook adobo that the even the government of the country had to introduce a standardized recipe to introduce to foreigners because Adobo is kinda like an unofficial national dish in a way. The standardized version of adobo mandated by the government is simply soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and onions, as the main ingredients. so all adobos have a similar taste but anyone can do their own rendition of it. my mom's adobo contains potatoes and boiled eggs
A lot of people told us that Potatoes and carrots are not allowed in Adobo, but we loved the addition of them! Your Mom's version sounds great with the boiled eggs! Thank you so much for watching! 😊 ❤️
@RaneeLopez-vz1js we've heard it's not very healthy from others but it does make it taste good like unhealthy things often do. Thanks for watching smile 😊
