  • In this video, I show you a clever Ryobi hack I invented and we show you how to convert your Ryobi EZ Clean Pressure Cleaner tool into a quick connect and quick disconnect tool for your hose, so you can quickly swap between multiple hose attachment tools without the need to shut off the hose at the hose bibb. Now you can switch the end of your garden hose attachments instantly, from garden hose nozzle, to car wash soap gun, to Ryobi EZ Clean Pressure Washer, all attachments changing instantly with our new quick connect/disconnect system.

    Usually when we wash our cars, our quick connect hose system allows to to quickly connect and disconnect our spray nozzle onto the garden hose, or the foam gun, or a foam cannon, or now you can attach your Ryobi cordless pressure cleaner. Our solution involves using a male quick connector screwed into the water intake port of the Ryobi pressure cleaner. these quick connect parts make your life so much easier. We show you which quick connect hose fittings to use on your Ryobi ry120350.

      @jeffostroff Great solution. I would expect nothing else out of a Motorola engineer however LOL. One suggestion you might want to put up a link to the Gilmore male and female quick connector pair so those of us who are going to change over to the system can give you the bump when we order them off your link. I’ve actually been considering changing over to quick connect for several years but could neverDefinitively find one system that was the best. Well done sir. #HotSwap

      Jeff, I'm not sure if someone has asked this question. If you wanted to use the bucket hose (fresh water) adapter, you cannot use the male quick connect. Is there another brass inlet connector that would work with the bucket hose adapter? Yes, you are correct the Ryobi EZ Clean inlet adapter is cheaply made, mine snapped off. I'm look for a brass replacement that would work with the bucket hose.

      5/8' is the normal size for garden hose right ?

      I think there must be a lot of people who don't regularly ~fiddle with things... I'd hardly say this is a, "hack" - he's literally screwing together compatible parts... The bar these days is low... (When I think, "hack" - I think of repurposing things NOT designed to fit together - or from entirely different tools. Hose connections and water fittings are just something you have to troubleshoot...)

    Thanks a million Jeff. For me this is not just a hack but a solution to a problem that resulted from the o-ring coming off the factory coupling. I went to lowes last night and bought the in-line shut off (which is brilliant because....well you know why), one female and 4 males. It's regular multi-coupling, garden gang bang at my place now.

    that connector that comes stock on the Ryobi is the most common yard water hose and accessory connector here in Australia. Nearly every outdoor water appliance or hose has it. Good for some countries and not others I guess.

    Love it! You know those "Foam Cannon's" from places like adams car polish and so many others, what is the fitting like on the the wand portion? Is it a standard quick disconnect or is it proprietary as well? I want to get one to run the hose into it like you did then attach a foam cannon to the joint in the middle of the wand... is that possible?

    Hi, I just brought the EZ Clean Pressure Washer. Thank you. I love this video. Since I’m not handy, do you have a video to show how to do a quick connect to the garden hose? Where can I buy the shutoff value shown on this video? I’m going to learn as much as I can on from your channel. Thanks. 😊

      I was scrolling down for this comment. That's no proprietary Ryobi connector. That's just a normal quick connector for almost all hose pipes in the UK and many other countries. It is designed to be interchangeable so this isn't really a hack is it, just a preference for a non-standard American connector.

      @@jeffostroff Have you found a way to make your hack work with the siphon hose? Just used mine for the first time today. When connected to garden hose and faucet open, water free flows through the cleaner at a low rate??? When trigger is depressed, it ups the pressure. Per your video, there’s a flow stop when not in use. I’m thinking mine is busted??? Thanks.

    • @jeffostroff

      Normally with no battery you pull the trigger and a light amount of water sprays out when you pull the trigger. Maybe you have an issue with the trigger. I have to fix mine already the trigger is stuck in and won't spring back to off.

    Geat idea. I actually had those parts, in hand, last night. I didn't buy them as they don't meet my need of using the included hose for pulling water out of a bucket. Any ideas for that?

    • @jeffostroff
      @jeffostroff  3 роки тому

      I have to experiment some more on that and on the dewalt as well as they both seem to have proprietary connections there that need to be adapted if you want to put quick connect on the port that in the water from the hose. But we have also discovered that the pressure spray is not as strong when you siphon out of a bucket like when you siphon directly out of the running hose and that is because the bucket of water has no pressure behind it where is your hose has that extra 60 PSI which makes all the difference in the world. So when I use the 550 PSI dewaldt sprayer and use the siphon out of a bucket method with that sprayer, it's way low pressure like half of connecting it to the hose. And so using the dewalt 550 PSI unit to siphon water out of a bucket is the equivalent of using the Ryobi unit by itself connected to a hose

    Switched mine over to brass when first got it. And that is where it cracked, above this connector, inside the housing. Possibly they made it to break on the original connector since is so weak inside.

    Inline shut off valve is easy to find, what is the part on the end of the shutoff valve that has the release?Not the part you attached to the power washer?

    • @jeffostroff
      @jeffostroff  3 роки тому

      This is the part you need: www.autogeek.net/brqucoset.html comes as a 2 piece set, you only need that double mushroom looking part. It screws onto the end of the shut off valve, and now you have a female quick connect port. The other piece in this kit is a male threaded hose adapter, that you can use on a soap gun, or any other part that needs a male screw in, so that you can connect the soap gun to quick connect.

    I bought one of these, barely used, from a local pawn shop at about 50 percent of full price. However, it didn’t come with any accessories, so in addition to the adaptation in this video, I need to make a siphon hose for it myself. I have plenty of extra hoses and I can use/sacrifice one of them for this purpose. Are there third-party versions of the intake filter available that would screw in to a regular garden hose?

    • @jeffostroff
      @jeffostroff  3 роки тому

      Good question we have not played with that yet I can tell you though that the Ryobi power cleaner, just like the DeWalt power cleaner, both of them stink trying to use the siphon hose out of a 5 gallon bucket the pressure quality is just way low because it doesn't have that 60 PS I have a garden hose as a headwind to get it started. In the Ryobi one seems to lose prime a lot when you're trying to siphon it out of a bucket

    • @Experiment6Two6
      @Experiment6Two6 3 роки тому

      @@jeffostroff I made a siphon hose out of a 25-foot RV/Marine hose and tested it just yesterday. Put a piece of metal filter mesh over one end and zip-tied it in place. Need to find a way to add weight to that end so it stays in the bucket. Even so, most of the time it didn't work well in my limited testing so far. It usually only produced a trickle of water, although a few times it did spray with the same force I get when it connected to a regular water hose. I am going to try stretching out the hose for a few days to see if taking the "coil" out of it will make a difference. If not, it will be disappointing, but as long as it works with a regular hose hookup, it will be okay.

    Is there a way to use a snow foam Lance (ie one you would use with a karcher pressure washer) with this Ryobi tool? I know Ryobi sell one but not in the UK!

    • @jeffostroff
      @jeffostroff  3 роки тому

      Martin, a snow foam lance/cannon will not work on this Ryobi sprayer because it doe snot have the required 1/4 standard quick connect for wand attachments. But it does work on my DeWalt version, see my video from last week: "Can DeWalt Power Cleaner Work With High PSI Soap Cannons? Car Wash Tips" ua-cam.com/video/5XNLNlLjit0/v-deo.html you will also see in that video I tested the soap cannon with the Ryobi 1600 PSI portable plugin electric power washer, but you really need to use a 1.1 mm orifice with these soap cannons.
