THanks so much, Erin. I am a solo RVer just starting out and after driving my Class C home 140 miles, the next anxious moments will be doing the hook up the first time. I have heard others say to keep black tank closed but they never said exactly why - it makes so much sense and I will never forget. My first trip is for 4 nights in a wonderful campground 7 miles away and DIL and SIL are tent camping with me so he can help with anything I forget. Thanks again.
Love your entertainment with education. Running the water through the hose to get the air out us a great idea. I would add a brass valve to the end of the hose so you can shut it off right there, connect to the elbow, and turn it on without having to go back to campsite valve.
Erin, you did a fantastic job! I don’t understand why people feel they have to comment on a “woman’s job” or a “man’s job.” What difference does it make as long as the two who are doing the work are happy with what they do. My husband does most of the outside work and I do most of the inside and we are okay with that. Y’all do your thing and don’t worry about what others think. We love your channel. Keep up the great videos!
Thanks so much for the info! Learned that you DON’T OPEN THE BLACK UNTIL YOU LEAVE! Or I guess until you know you have enough waste to force it! Way to go… great job!
Speaking of roles: I remember asking my grandmother once about that (she did all the usual stuff people think about when it comes to "roles" like cooking cleaning inside, etc.) and asked her why grandpa did all the outside stuff and she didn't, and she gave me an incredulous look and said, "Why the hell would I want to do that stuff!" OK grandma. Except her garden. If grandpa touched that, he'd get a spade in the face. and on family get togethers, he'd push her out of the kitchen saying, "I am making my favorite raisin carrot salad!" And grandma stepped aside. Now that you think about it, they mixed quite a few things, but were also very traditional, and both were perfectly happy with it. Her mother (my great granny) was literally part of the first (and real) women's independence movement, the right to vote. I came from a very "modern" family, and they still had no problems with one person doing certain things and the other doing other things. I never got why people were so OC about "roles" they both never even saw it that way. And that carrot raisin salad was pretty dang good.
We just bought our first RV today! We've never done any of this stuff before and I'm really glad to be able to watch your videos to learn everything- thank you!
Great job guys, what an awesome team you are. Don't ever let the feminist comments destroy that or get you down. You guys seems to have a great relationship everybody should envy.😃
Erin you ARE the woman! Congratulations on a (not as yucky as I thought) job well done! I can’t imagine where the role-critical comments are coming from. I’ve watched most of your videos and your relationship looks pretty egalitarian and mutually supportive to me. I love your banter. You and Brian are two smart as a whip cookies and a great team! 😻🚋😻
Thanks Laura! We're definitely a team - we'll help out wherever we're needed regardless of the task. It's just better for everyone that way and it also sets a much better example for the kids than the wife cooking and cleaning and doing laundry all day while Dad is just sitting around watching football...
Just came across your videos.......They are awesome! We are in our 2nd year of recreational RV traveling. You guys have provided a great resource for us "newbies". Thanks for the detailed descriptions in a fun presentation. Looking forward to binge watching all of your videos. Keep up the great work! All the best from your neighbour's to the North!
Just watched your video on hooking up the sewer. We are subscribers and watch and enjoy all your videos. I am a nurse and did notice one thing though. When Erin had on her gloves, she pulled her shirt down twice after touching the dirty stuff. You have to be aware what you touch with your gloves as to not contaminate other things. Other than that thought she did awesome. I'm probably just over reacting because I'm a nurse. It would probably be more important to be aware of contamination when you are disconnecting the sewer. Keep up the good work guys!!
Good Job, Erin! We have had our rig 8 1/2 yrs and I have never hooked up our sewer, water or power. LOL I don't do the slides either. Hubby wants to make sure they are done right, so those are his jobs. He usually hooks up the power, levels the rig and opens the slide then goes out to hook up water and sewer, if needed (just 2 of us, so if we are just a day or 2, we wait) and I will put down the rugs, set up the kitchen and bedroom and set up the things we pack in the sinks for travel. I am usually starting a meal too. I guess I need to try the water & sewer at least once too. LOL HUGS~Donna
Erin you did great with ding hookups. I can tell you both share in the house duties. You both make a great husband and wife team. And you both are a cute couple too. Great job with the hookups. Not sure how I wound have done. It seems easy but hard at the same time. Thank you for this video. Looking forward too seeing next video. Stay safe and safe travels.
Ok, this is hilarious!! And Erin's facial expressions are absolutely adorable!! The mad face 3:03 killed me, reminded me a toddler being told they cannot do something. Excellent first time.
I always close the gray valve the last day to save some water in it to use as a hose flush before disconnecting. I also do a long flush in the toilet so there is extra water to help empty the black tank.
That's why the second hose was so clean - I had gray closed the two previous nights and had flushed the hose (with the tank flush) at the other campground that morning.
Great job erin. I have only just started this past year to hookup sewer connections. We are not full time like you guys so im still slow at doing it. I can do water have done that alway cause like you guys we work together to set up lol.....i asked hubby all the same questions too. You did 👍 great
We horse camp in our big LQ and for 23 yrs I have done all of the sewer and water jobs. Why? Because like Brian I have certain ways I want it done!! LOL. But the hubs sets up the elec pens for the horses AND saddles my boy, so I am a happy camper! Love ur site and channel.
Love your videos! This one was so helpful. We’ve only been summer camping in our travel trailer a couple years, and my husband always hooks everything up. Erin, you make it look like something I can do. Yay!
Exactly! There's definitely some stench sometimes depending on the campground but by and large it's not a bad task at all if you know what you're doing!
I really appreciate how you treat each other. The kiddos definitely notice how much daddy loves his mommy! I just hope that y’all have put Jesus Christ as number ONE! Newbie at sewers and RV’ing but super excited to get my 3Boys out and about! Thanks for your videos, they have helped me!
You are amazing!! My “baby” is a junior in high school...her school is the only thing keeping me here...now if I can just find the confidence to pull a 43” fifth wheel & leave Ohio/Midwest winter forever...
Erin, you are too cute! I notice that you use twist ties on your hose, I use the little looped bungee cord that has a ball on the end, they are quick and easy. Awesome job on hooking up the stinky slinky.
Great job...👏👏👏 and we do the same...I like things my way inside and he like things his way outside. But I can tow and learning to park and do hookups just in case ✌️.
If you always leave your grey tanks open. When Do you generally close the grey tank off? To ensure you you have flush water for the sewer hose after you dump the black tank. Great video!
Omg I was doing it wrong. Opening both at the same time. Wow you guys did an awesome explanation doing it together. I will remember this next time I go camping. Have fun guys 🥰🥰
Erin great job from seasonal to full timer. I have had to run the thing that goes under the hose I have had to run to camping store because my husband forgot to put new piece in camper or needed more hose for sewer then I got to put it together.
Simple question from a prospective RV er: why not have an additional PVC pipe attachment that is a 45* and goes thru the hole in the rig? Then you attach the drain hose direct without a bend in the hose. Thank you for your answer. Robert
We would leave gray water open then close it a couple of days before we drain the black. That gives us plenty of gray water to 'rinse' the hoses with after the black is dumped. If the tanks were empty and we were only staying three days like you are, we'd leave them both closed. Of course it's just two of us, so you may only need a day of gray water for the rinse with 5 of you.
We can easily fill grey in 2 or 3 days with five people 😂 I do regularly close grey a night or two before moving day so we have flush water - that's actually why that hose was so clean, because I had just done that earlier that morning at another campground.
Awesome job Erin!! I loved the middle name thrown in there. lol And when you hit him with the sidewinder hehehe. My husband says now that you can do water and sewer Erin I have to learn :(
Great video! My husband always does ours and I’ve said I need to learn “just in case”. Loved watching you do it Erin :-) A couple of questions for you…You mentioned that you don’t thread your hoses onto themselves when travelling due to mold. We always do it so we don’t have water leaks in our storage area. Is mold a real concern with the way we’re doing it?? Also, I was surprised that you keep the gray tank open. We keep it closed until after we empty and then flush our black tank. That way the soapy water can be used to wash our black hoses. Is there a reason you keep them open? Thanks!

Great job Erin! Just dumped my tanks but had a major malfunction. My sewer hose detached from the connectors about 1/2 way through. Let’s just say. My shoes and socks went into the trash at the dump and l washed my feet and spayed disinfectant all over them. Showered as soon as I got home. Once I get a new sewer hose I will finish dumping the tanks. Hopefully it won’t happen again.

Girl you did great! I dont understand the gender role comments on either side really.... When did we get to a place in this world, where we care so much about other people's chores or "roles" in there family lol like I don't understand why people would comment on that. Kudos to you guys for putting up with people who think their opinion matters to you lol
Erin did great. I don't get why people care about the men vs. women roles. Just do what works for you, and don't meddle in other people's affairs. 🤷♂️ Anyway, thanks for the video, this was helpful.
I am a nurse, so here is my comment about gloves -- you wear them so your hands do not get dirty, but the outside of the gloves will get dirty -- so be careful about wiping your hair away or pulling your shirt down with your gloves on. If you end up using more than one pair of gloves -- that is fine.
The thing that kills me is that most of the sites I’ve stayed in the sewer is at the very back and my sewer setups are closer to the front of the rig. So, when it’s time for me to dump, I reserve a pull thru site, so I can back up farther (or don’t pull in as far) to dump. I HATE the sidewinder. I’m looking at replacing it with a gutter.
Our trailer had the sewer up near the front - it has been much better near the rear on this rig. The sidewinder is both good and bad. I've thought about switching to a ridgid option but storage is an issue...
Some people use them. I don't for two reasons - first, it's another point of failure and second, it takes a lot more pressure/pushing to engage them and I don't trust how strong the stuff behind that panel is.
9:31 certainly will not be having "gender" roles in our RV once we hit the road. The plan is that everyone will be "cross trained" to be able to do every task and based on how each person does in each role, they will be assigned a role (or more) as primary where it's their job to do every time and a secondary/backup role in case the primary for certain jobs becomes ill or injured and can't do it for a time.

The gloves that Brian wears you should make a small cuff folded outward to catch anything that may run down the glove if you lift your hand.

Erin did great. I don't get why people care about the men vs. women roles. Just do what works for you, and don't meddle in other people's affairs. 🤷♂️
Anyway, thanks for the video, this was helpful.
I thought you was looking at a class c rig,.. when did you get this nice rig?? Did you have a walk threw??
Happy Trails from Lady Liberty family. 🙋🏻😷🙏
We've had this for almost a year now 😉 Here's the tour: ua-cam.com/video/cqA7zLQOm-E/v-deo.html
Woohoo. Great job. Is someone missing their twist tie?
Yes 😭😭😭
Sorry!!! 🥺
Would quick disconnects work on those inlets?
Some people use them. I don't for two reasons - first, it's another point of failure and second, it takes a lot more pressure/pushing to engage them and I don't trust how strong the stuff behind that panel is.
@@Five2Go oh yeah that makes sense
You did great it's something you needed to do at least once lol
Thanks Robert! 😁
Do you use a pressure gauge for the water
Always! It was in the video, between the filter and the water splitter.
That sounds like a fantastic plan!
