I plan on buying a 50cc as soon as I turn 16 and have completed my CBT. I was thinking about getting a grom when i’m 17 because i believe 125cc is the limit at 17 here in the uk?
I was planning to do the same, I decided to wait and I'm so glad I did because a year later I've saved myself the hassle of selling of a 50cc and just being able to get straight into a 125cc.
Had a CB125F for three years, absolutely adored it! Very reliable throughout and good fun to ride. (Pushed to 75mph with an exhaust switch and a bit of back wind.) Sadly, just got wrote off after an oil spill took me out.. Torn between a CB125R and the MT125 as my replacement. (Though I think the Honda's gonna edge it.. Slightly cheaper and those cafe racer looks are gorgeous!)
I don't get this MPG thing. If the CB125F has a 13L tank, that is about 2.85 Gal. At 151 MPG, that means I should get around 430 miles on a full tank, which I don't. If I fill up and reset the clock, I get around 170 miles before I need to fill again.
I need a 125cc bike that is easy for someone who’s never rode a bike before (beginner) and I want it to look cool and second hand. Can you recommend me one ?
It will all depend on what is available to you at the time and budget. Most 125s are learner friendly - it is what they are designed for. Models like the Honda CB125F, Yamaha YS125 are probably the most well known 125s for being popular at training schools, but there are so many models out there to choose from.
I’ve never ridden a street legal motorcycle but i’m getting one after i get my licence in april. I’m getting the Yamaha Mt-125 and by the looks of it, it performes as well as it looks. It runs 134 miles per gallon and the top speed varies a lot. I’ve seen some reach speeds of roughly 87mph. Overall it’s an amazing bike and i’d recommend it 110%. If you’d like i could update this in april.
A cub would be very ideal, and have been made to live forever. Very agile and quick as well. Very durable if you get a japanese one, and also very cheap and economical on fuel. The Yamaha XT125X is another good option.
This list was built using sales figures during 2019. The Benelli didn't sell enough to make it into the top 10. The TNT gets a lot of attention, a great small stunt like 125 which seems to sell well.
Is the cb125f good for motorways. Imma be starting riding bikes soon. And I'll need one for motorway travel working away. I need to figure out sports bike or cruiser too.
You'd need a licence to ride on a motorway in the UK, a CBT (L-plates) is not sufficient. It is all down to personal preference, most 125s will get somewhere between 50-80 mph all depending on spec (15bhp liquid cools will be the fastest but tend to be a lot more money). But acceleration isn't that rapid. Personally, I would want something bigger than a 125cc for regular motorway journeys. but like I say that is only my opinion.
you seem to think that the size of the petrol tank determines the mpg. Not so. The size of the petrol tank combined with the mpg gives you the range of the bike per tankful
@@Oceam nah, mt in performance is mediocre, at that price u can get better, but I love the look of the bike and is pretty fun to drive (thats why he put the mt in 9 pos)
I have a mash fifty at the moment, it’s okay I guess but I’m frustrated by the 30 mph speed limit (not the bikes fault though obviously) I’m kinda torn between the Yamaha mt125 and the grom
Make sure to check them out in person and have a sit on them, you'll probably get one you favour. I remember the restrictions well. I used to have a daily commute of 30 miles on a restricted 50cc - made for interesting journeys!
I'm confused by the narration which gives the tank size and that this will get you a certain number of Mpg.Surely the tank size has nothing to do with MPG.Phrasing could be done slightly better I feel.(Sorry to be a pedant)Tank size is relevant to work out the total distance that the bike can travel at a certain MPG-I just feel that tank size and MPG should not be linked in the way that they are here.A certain tank size will not "get" you a specific MPG.It's the efficiency of the engine and style of riding which achieves said MPG-Figures ,like with cars, are a guide based on a test cycle measurement-rant over.
Hello, I got the same bike Benelli Bn 125, can u tell me what oxford model of grips are those? and your bike seams to have a scrapy noise like a metal when u acelerate which only goes away when u press the clutch, i think its a fault like mine has but a dont know how to fix it, have u noticed that? or is just me?

the people at lexham insurance are great but I would shop around a bit first as their prices aren't so much. looking at third party fire and theft, they're quoting around £400 more than some other insurers with around the same compulsory excess. not slating them in anyway as im sure they're great but just advising on having a look around before settling.

Hello there, good video. Just a quick question; would you say a Honda Monkey would be a good bike to get as a first? It would be used for daily commuting & riding around town and country lanes. Thanks, Rold.
Hi, it is all down to what you are after personally. Sit on the bike and makes sure it feel nice and comfortable when you're able to visit a dealers. It only has a small fuel tank of 5.6 litres but extremely good fuel economy. It does only has 4 gears, so top speeds wise it might struggle and be less comfortable compared to 125cc bikes with 5 or even 6 gears. I've not tested one personally.

Yup it is!
I was planning to do the same, I decided to wait and I'm so glad I did because a year later I've saved myself the hassle of selling of a 50cc and just being able to get straight into a 125cc.
For my opinion
1. Mt 125
2. Duke 125
3. CB 125 R
Had a CB125F for three years, absolutely adored it! Very reliable throughout and good fun to ride. (Pushed to 75mph with an exhaust switch and a bit of back wind.)
Sadly, just got wrote off after an oil spill took me out.. Torn between a CB125R and the MT125 as my replacement. (Though I think the Honda's gonna edge it.. Slightly cheaper and those cafe racer looks are gorgeous!)
CB125F and CB125R my two favourite 125cc bikes out there!
my cb125f is an insane bike, and it has a nice torque for it size and horsepower, it push you backwards very fast
Forever Motolove! Love my own yamaha. Always putting up the good stuff like Delta Parole and others when I am working on her. Moto is life
Can't believe the MT came in at 9, it looks great. I ride a KTM Duke 125 and its Awesome!
Is the TFT display better to see in daylight than an LCD dash?
👍👍
Where is the Keeway RKF 125?
Its stunning and got a good Price.
Good alternative to the Duke
The size of the tank has no effect on mpg, it does however effect range!
I am thinking of buying a keeway but my parents won't let me take my mc licence...
What should I do?
In the UK you can ride a 125cc on a CBT.
Taking extra lessons, having great protective equipment and going for a licence might help your case.
They can’t complain if u get it behind their back
Thank u all❤
But a Sinnis hoodlum, much better bike
I know Chinese bikes are frowned upon but has anyone had any experience with hanway bikes? the scrambler looks very smart.
We haven''t tested any Hanway tbh. I'd try and find some owner reviews if you can.
The Hyosung Aquila GV125s should be on this, liquid cooled, 3 valve per cylinder injected v-twin and a pretty clever brake set up.
Thanks for your comment. List and its order is decided by sales figures.
I don't get this MPG thing. If the CB125F has a 13L tank, that is about 2.85 Gal. At 151 MPG, that means I should get around 430 miles on a full tank, which I don't. If I fill up and reset the clock, I get around 170 miles before I need to fill again.
I was thinking the same, I can’t believe these bikes are even getting over 100mpg
I think it's really sad that Yamaha stopped producing their wr125 series. Love those bikes❤️
I still have a 2011 model
I have a 2016, stunning bike and great fun to ride!
What about keeway RKF125?!?
GamingWithRaay please
A cub would be very ideal, and have been made to live forever. Very agile and quick as well. Very durable if you get a japanese one, and also very cheap and economical on fuel.
The Yamaha XT125X is another good option.
KTM rc125 is pretty cool I think
Hi, in my country only Suzuki GSX-R 125 is available. Is it a good bike, please? Thanks.
In the vidio it says Honda CB 125 F is liquid cooled, I lok at uk honda webpage and It says is air coled, were i can buy the likid coled version?
looking to get my first bike not sure which one is better?? MT125 or the duke 125 or if there are any others that I should really consider?
Hey have you considered looking at benelli like the bn and the tnt
This list was built using sales figures during 2019. The Benelli didn't sell enough to make it into the top 10. The TNT gets a lot of attention, a great small stunt like 125 which seems to sell well.
I have a Bn 125, and the bike is perfect. A lot cheaper than other options and a very fun bike. Check out for review videos and see for yourself!
What to people think of Harold Bikes?
Honda CB125F is number 1 against CB125R because of the price? Every other aspect was better for 125R??
I love the Yamaha Mt 125😍🔥
That Honda CB is gorgeus!
Saw the front LED Headlight and the tank shape and was sold
noob question but when it says Tank mpg, does it actually mean it will do that mpg?
You put the Keeway on the list but left off the Sinnis Hoodlum??? I have seen no review that rates the Superlight over the Hoody!
The list is based on sales figures. So Hoodlum didn't sell enough to be on the list.
What do you think about the Benelli TNT125 or BN125?
You're missing the yamaha WR125X. It's a majorly underrated small displacement motorbike!
No denying it is a great bike. Sadly no longer available new in the UK (which is a criteria for this list)
That last bike the honda 125f ,I didn't see a radiator,I'm pretty sure that air cooled....which is important for a 125cc bike
Where do you look the price?
What do you guys think is best ,
Honda CBR125cc .or
Yamaha yzf125cc
?
yzf
MT-125 9th ? xD
Top two...cb125r & mt-125 ktm at third. The rest? Keep em.
this list is trash
@@Oceam nah, mt in performance is mediocre, at that price u can get better, but I love the look of the bike and is pretty fun to drive (thats why he put the mt in 9 pos)
@@davidec.223 well the list is still trash
Cool list
Happy new year, all the best for 2020
Thanks, happy new year!
Great vlog, the Hyosung 125 v twin also very popular.
Regards from rsa
Thanks, we had been put down to test the Aquila from Hyosung previously but never materialised
I had a cb125f 2017 for 2 years good bike does 75mph down hill, great value for money,
Kawasaki Z 125 should be on here 🙂
benji0815 hmm, not really. The z 125 has a bad handling
Yes z125 should be on there, and could replace the duke or one of the chinese shitbikes :)
@@xijinvegg duke is good, i dont think it needs a replacing, plus duke has better handling than z125
Just like the ninja 125
I have a mash fifty at the moment, it’s okay I guess but I’m frustrated by the 30 mph speed limit (not the bikes fault though obviously) I’m kinda torn between the Yamaha mt125 and the grom
Make sure to check them out in person and have a sit on them, you'll probably get one you favour.
I remember the restrictions well. I used to have a daily commute of 30 miles on a restricted 50cc - made for interesting journeys!
Mt is good for 1 80 m? I don t want to look wierd on the bike
GSX-S 125?
Love that bike, looking at getting one. Fastest 125 4 stroke I think, I saw a guy on UA-cam get 9.4s 0 to 60 on flat looking ground
I’m quite tempted by the Duke 125... it just looks a bit yobbish. If I wanted boring I’d buy a Ford Focus
Depends on what Focus you get! The Duke is a great choice, good to see the Svartpilen 125 coming out this year too which basically uses the Duke as a foundation, same engine, and frame, etc.
Please review the Suzuki gsx-r125 and Kawasaki Z125 and Ninja 125
Are the fuel efficiency numbers quoted actually MPG or tank range?
They must be mpg, as I have a 2021 SH125i that shows around 140 mpg and thus far have done 195 miles on one tank which holds only 7 litres.
@@1960ARC Wow! I had no idea there was such a difference between the mpg numbers for 125cc engines compared to the bigger bikes. Thank you for the information. Keep up the good work.
Honda msx and yamha xsr 155 which one is better and strong in both street and long jounney need help to know??
We don't have the xsr 155 over here so can't really comment. 125s can be a bit limited on longer journeys, so maybe a bigger engine will help on the longer trips. Check them out in person and see what suits you best.
I think Honda CB125F at number 1 is a decent commuter's bike , both front and back of the bike is so decent 😊
Yup is one popular bike!
the people at lexham insurance are great but I would shop around a bit first as their prices aren't so much. looking at third party fire and theft, they're quoting around £400 more than some other insurers with around the same compulsory excess. not slating them in anyway as im sure they're great but just advising on having a look around before settling.
Any opinions on the Sinnis Bomber cafe racer?
We've not had one in to test unfortunately.
NICE video; Perhaps the only thing I wish I'd seen was COMPARISON CHART showing the list of bikes with Right to Left scrolling Spec Data then we can see how each bike compares to the others in each Category. That would be a great Update to this type of video.
Thanks for the great suggestion.
Can't believe the CB125F is No 1? I had one and it was really twitchy, swapped it for a much better and smoother ride Suzuki GSX-S125. The CB always felt like it was lacking a gear (only has 5), felt way too slow.
All based on sales figures from 2019 Les! Completed my CBT on the CB125F, and whilst I'll say it's probably not the best bike I've ridden, it's definitely a solid runner (and is a Honda) so sells well - Alex
I have one, it's a boring ride but it's invincible.
And I'm unsure if I can go straight for a A2 license when I get my CBT. As I'm 21 this year. Or do I need to get my A1 for two years fiest
You can do an A2 from the age of 19
What do you think about Keeway RKF125?
We've not had a chance to test ride, dare say there might be the odd review out there already though.
Hello there, good video. Just a quick question; would you say a Honda Monkey would be a good bike to get as a first? It would be used for daily commuting & riding around town and country lanes.
Thanks,
Rold.
@@BikeMatters Thanks for the reply, will take what you said into consideration.
Gee like bikematter said go and sit on bikes lots of different ones I found the ktm was the one for me and I’ve ordered it yesterday but I wanted the mt125 but the ktm just did it for me was what I wanted for daily use and comfort for my long journeys good luck with you search
EnG Melton hi there, I purchased a little Honda cg 125 (02 plate with a kickstart). Really nice bike, in very good condition for age etc. Really liking it atm. Will probs go to a bigger bike when I can and skip out on other 125s. I’m thinking on turning it into a cafe racer style in the near future. Thanks for you comment, cheers :)

8:00 damn I want a duke 125... but affording a car, driving lessons, car insurance, maintenance and then the duke with bike insurance and maintenance too, especially at 17...
bikes are the future bro especially in city's where cars are being banned or will be in the future
I have a 2014 mt-125 I must admit I don’t know how the newer one posted at 9th 😅 I really love mine it’s great in most aspects, and definitely better than the Ktm dukes.... don’t know how they got 75 mph they barely hold 65 IRL.....🤷🏼♂️
i have the 2015 one, by far the best 125, fuel economy is amazing, highway 2l per 100 km, if your tight on fuel it can go 1.5 l per 100, its comftoable, fast and it actually looks and feels like a big bike, same frame from the mt 07 when i compared them side by side, and hondas 2, the other ones i wont bother, too ugly too small too slow, and sport bikes aint worth gettin 125s
I've got a 125 intruder bobber , looks beautiful but a tad sluggish
CB125 R its perfect for me
Me too
Just bought mine
I can’t believe the mpg figures these 125’s are getting. When I was into wee bikes many moons ago we never saw mileages close to these. I think getting 70mpg was impressive back then.
Many modern 4-strokes are pretty economical!
any duke 125 riders ? 🤘
Trying to get mine
Just bought one last week
What about Suzuki GSX S125??.... Is it available in your country??.... Because in Indonesia has 3 kind of GSX bike but in 150 CC level.....
GSX R150
GSX S150
GSX 150 Bandit
Would you recommend a Grom or a Yamaha YZF 125 ? For daily use and commuting around Manchester City centre
Hi Joe, well it all boils down to personal taste really, as you can tell from our video they are both fantastic options! The Grom may be slightly more forgiving in stop start traffic thanks to it's more upright seating position. The best thing to do would be to maybe test ride both of them and see which you prefer on first impressions!
Geared bikes a pain in city get a Honda forza best for commute by miles
Which one bike is super I want to buy
So I’m 17 in a few months, I know it’ll be a while to save but would you recommend the Lexmoto LXR 125 for my first
Don't get it chinese bikes are trash
One of the biggest selling 125s since it's release, and is incredibly popular. I'd check out owner groups on Facebook etc for true opinions on quality etc over time.

Try to check out the ones you are most interested in, in person have a sit and see what you think. Though covid might not quite allow this currently. We do have top 10 lists for 125cc sports bikes and also cruisers too.
Hey guys i´m just looking for my first bike and deceided to buy a 125 for learning to drive a bike. I was thinking about a Honda Shadow but all i actualy found on the interenet is hard used and the prices in Germany are rising since a new law allows to drive 125 ccm bikes with the driving license for a car. So i looked for newer motorcycles and actualy i´m a little bit in love with the Hyosung Aquila GV125s. What do you think about it and whats the reason for it not beeing in your top 10 list? Im just asking because im totaly new to motorcycles and all i know is that i want to have a comfortable bike like a cruiser. If you have any suggestion for me it would be pretty nice of you. Greetings from Germany
Edit: Btw the Keenway Superlight looks very interesting. I will definatly take a look on it. Thank you for this video!
The list and its order is made up based on sales figures in the UK, so that's why the aquila isn't in the list.
We haven't had a chance to test the Aquila yet so can't really comment (there are a few review videos out there though). It has a powerful V-twin liquid cooled 125cc motor with 14bhp so that set's it apart from most other custom 125s but is more expensive because of this.
many mentioned did not enter Canada market....☹️
The duke looks cool
It is a stunner!
Dual motor 125 any recomandations please?
