  • As a casual player, I teach you the basics of how to play Magic the Gathering as I walk through a sample game in a soft spoken manner in order to provide ASMR, relaxation and sleep. I'll most likely follow this video up with a look at the modest collection of cards that I own.
    Thanks for watching.
    All the best,
    E.R.

    I am learning Magic as of today (bought my first deck) and at first I admit I was very ignorant in the sense that I said "Why is he talking like that?".
    After researching ASMR and listening/watching a few videos my tourettes (which involves head twitching) has not occurred in over 30 minutes now.
    You've earned a subscription buddy, and will be passing on this information to my Doctor (which I am reviewing my condition to) in a few weeks time. I am 23 years old.
    Thank you!

    Before you even comment, please read this. If you don't know why he is whispering, it's because this is an ASMR video.
    ASMR, or Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, is essentially the tingles you get when seeing or hearing something that triggers your ASMR.
    Some triggers are as follows, and are most popular:
    -People working diligently
    -Whispering
    -Panning sounds
    -Crinkling bags
    -Tapping, whether it be objects or finger nails
    So now that you're educated, don't come in here acting like a big boy, because I wear the big boy pants around here, along with... everyone else here... But you get the point.
    Just don't be an ass when you comment.

    So many people are clueless to what asmr is. Ya know when you here a certain sound and it sound somewhat more soothing than others and it's relaxing? That's asmr. The whispering is to help you experience that feeling. If this video doesn't do it then I'm 99.999999 % sure any other of E.R's videos will do it. Trust me I thought it was a weird thing at first but now I can't go to sleep without it. It does for me what a medication would do for someone else. And thank you E.R for the great video!

    • @fierguy
      @fierguy 10 років тому +4

      Actually ASMR is a specific sensation that someone feels. Whatever activates this sensation is called a "trigger", and Whispering is a popular trigger among ASMR listeners

      Whats funny is asmr can happen anywhere for me. I notice that elder men (their gruff and gravely voices) talking to me and pointing things out puts me to sleep. School was hard as shit sometimes with 1 on 1 teacher work. Man or woman if they talk calmly and point things out with the sound of their finger running across the paper.. will 100% put my ass to sleep.
      Although for most of my life I wasnt sure why I was trying to sleep when people talked to me. Turns out asmr is something my brain very much responds to.

    This was awesome but I thought you might appreciate some pointers:
    -You're allowed 4 of any card other than lands
    -Don't draw a card if you go first
    -Summoning sickness doesn't tap the creature
    -Tapped creatures can't block
    -Use the creatures' abilities like the Ranger's land
    -The Knight has First Strike so it won't die
    -Multiple creatures CAN block one creature
    -Basilisk can't block the Hatchling because of flying
    I hope this doesn't seem annoying, just trying to help out a fellow MTG player!

    Its funny that you angered so many nerds with a simple video.

    • @projectbakery6140
      @projectbakery6140 9 років тому +26

      It's just because some people have a very in depth understanding of the game while others are here just for the asmr experience. I came to this video for both and as someone with a legitimate understanding of mtg, it was kind of unsettling watching someone not properly understand a bunch of various rules! However, he did make a disclaimer that he is not an expert and only a casual player. :)

    • @projectbakery6140
      @projectbakery6140 9 років тому +3

      Never justified it...I just explained why the nerds are upset. Because we invest a lot of time into this game so they can get hostile when they see people that haven't grasped a lot of the basic concepts. Still a great video and fun to watch someone as they progress.

  • @DzyDzyDino
    @DzyDzyDino 10 років тому +6

    There is so much more ASMR involved in Magic when you get into sleeves, sleeve types, card shuffle techniques, "stack shuffling", "land stacking" and just the nervous card shuffling in the hand between doing actions. That's where the ASMR in magic cards is.

    • @DzyDzyDino
      @DzyDzyDino 10 років тому

      btw. Stack shuffling is a common method of shuffling, especially after building a deck where you take a 60 card deck and for instance, deal it into 10 stack of 6 for instance... then come up with some system to redistribute those stacks into each other. For example, pick up 2 stacks and shuffle them into each other -- ideally with the method where you just push one into the other with sleeves on, repeatedly, mantra-like. Then you deal those into the remaining 4 stacks, pick up 2, do the same. then pick up the remaining two, and then shuffle those into eachother. Before you even started, ideally you took all the land out of the deck and dealt 1 land, 2 cards, 1 land, 2 cards, all the way to the end. compensating for the extra lands assuming you're running more than 33% land.

    • @GanzBestimmt
      @GanzBestimmt 9 років тому

      ***** After that u shuffle one more time, problem solved...but get 9+ cards and no land is ridiculous...

      ***** Ich ziehe nicht zu wenig Länder er hat hier um die 9 Karten rum keine Länder gehabt also schlecht gemischt...die email kann man deaktivieren und die eigene Rechtschreibung ist mir relativ egal...Hauptsache man versteht mich, das ist was Sprache für mich als Zielsetzung haben sollte...dein Vorgänger hat einen guten Tipp gegeben nämlich vorm Mischen schon mal die Länder vorher zu verteilen dann noch mal Mischen und man wird nicht mehr solche Probleme haben...was auf Wettkämpfen dann Standard ist tut nichts zur Sache da hast du das Thema verfehlt da es hier im Video um Casual ging und da hat nicht jeder Mischmaschinen etc...ooh ich vergaß...(;

    • @GanzBestimmt
      @GanzBestimmt 9 років тому

      ***** Also war ich unverständlich oder nicht? Wenn der Gegner anschließend sowieso noch mal mischt was macht es dann unsportlich wenn man vorher die Länder nach persönlicher Vorliebe aufteilt? Und wenn ich ihm das Deck einfach so sortiert hinterlasse wie ich gerne ziehen würde ist doch egal er mischt es eh nochmal...ich spiele gar nicht mehr habe mal eine Zeit Casual nur mit Freunden gespielt ist aber schon eine Weile her...was aber ziemlich dumm ist wenn man vorher alle Länder und jede Farbe aneinander reiht und dann dem Gegner gibt wird man wohl oder übel Dreck ziehen...und genau das hat der Ersteller des Videos gemacht auch wenn er selbst gemischt hat...vermutlich ist deine Lösung die "Bessere" nur wie gesagt jeder kann das doch so machen wie er will? Wenn ich selbst schon für eine zufällige Anordnung sorgen muss dann müssen eben Regeln erlassen werden wie genau das zu geschehen hat...aber im Casualbereich ist das vollkommen gleichgültig...denn da bestimmt man selbst und der Gegner die Mischregeln...(:

    You can have as many creatures blocking a single creature, unless stated otherwise.
    Creatures dont enter play tapped due to summoning sickness. It merely means they can't tap. Tapped creatures can't block, so it's a bit confusing to put them into play tapped.

    Great video.
    The answer to your concern about multiple blockers. Yes, you can assign two blockers to one attacker. Also, when the attended knight entered the battlefield, it triggered a 1/1 creature token. Lastly, the attended knight shouldve killed off the void stalker since the knight has first strike.
    Hope this helps!

    I know that feel. I love this game, but the only person, who ever played with me, moved away.
    Also, he played a slightly different version with me, so your video helps me, to understand the real rules.
    Thanks and as always, a great video.

    I think I can learn this pretty easily. It's got a lot of elements of Pokemon TCG and Hearthstone, both of which I know ok.

    My boyfriend plays MTG (recently switched from YuGiOh) because shuffling cards relaxes him but I think the way you shuffle would give him a heart attack, lol. The other day one of his cards was warping so he ran through his house looking for a card sleeve.

    It can be very expensive if you try to be a serious/tournament player, but if you just buy a couple pre-made decks or a couple started decks and some booster packs it can be quite enjoyable.
