- Welcome to this weeks review of the Skoda Karoq Sportline.
The Karoq is the main replacement of the Skoda Yeti, the Czech brands first SUV and they have a huge hill to climb. The Yeti was a huge success and was the car that many buyers didn't realise they needed. The quirky looks and name made buyers intrigued and after driving the Yeti were hooked!
Can Skoda provide the same results with the Karoq? Well yes and no. They can never create the same niche feel the Yeti provided but have created a car that's spacious, well biult and great to drive. Everything a Skoda should be.
But Skoda are now a brand that regularly gets 5 stars and beats its rivals and the Karoq does that still. But how does it fair in Sportline trim?

We have had a 2ltr 190bhp auto Karoq sport line for 2 months now, absolutely loving it, we test drove loads of motors before choosing the Skoda. We tried out the Tiguan, volvo xc60 r design, and a few others of similar size ect.. The SKODA beat them all for me even though I was thinking about the bigger volvo xc90 r design as a serious contender, I just couldn't warrant paying the extra amount for very little difference in spec ect.. Great review of the car pal.

Seriously? You chose the Karoq over the XC60?? I've driven the XC60 for 1 week on holidays when my car had broke down in France and I was deeply impressed!! Like driving on a cloud with the air suspension and all that!! Also by the pricetag....€80.000,-😮😮. (Ok to be fair it was a T8 500 Bhp plug in hybrid with only 10 miles on the odometer..) And the Tiguan also seems like a serious contender?? But to be honest I never testdrove a Karoq or a Tiguan so I wouldn't know. And furthermore coming from a 2014 Renault Grand Scénic I guess every new car will impress me though my Scenic is quite good tbh just raking the miles in now.... Can you tell me what specific things made you go for the Karoq?

Great review, just purchased a Skoda Karoq 1.5 sportline in meteor grey.
How can I install park assist and change ambient lighting on this car? Do you know what options are available in regards to coding
We opted for the 2.0 L. 150 hp Diesel edition model which comes with pretty well everything you will ever need and more we find it brilliant
The part time 2wd & 4wd system is something else and regularly returns 42mpg.. Led lighting is great and fully automatic.and has headlight washers which activate every 10-12 screen washer actions, it also has rear camera washer too.
After many years of driving Fords Skoda have surpassed them in all models .
Will not look back now.
The karoq 1.5tsi dsg sportline is now available in 2wd. Great review btw

Just ordered my Karoq and it should arrive in about 4 months time and I got the 140kw TSI version. Lets see if it really is as good as everyone is saying :) I bloody well hope so. One thing I do have to mention is that the standard equipments really vary from dealer to dealer and from country to country. Everything you mentioned as standard is an option in Estonia.
Thank you for your comment. Yes a lot of EU countries have different specs and hopefully you have got the car you wanted. The 1.5TSI is a peach of an engine for the Karoq.

Thank you for your comment. The Sportline is a rare car to see reviewed but really enjoyed it. I started out by taking pics of cars and it simply evolved from there.

First time ive watched one of your reviews, and i must say i was very impressed by it.
As you more or less covered every aspect of the cars exterior and more importantly the interior.
I like many others always had a giggle, when the name of Skoda was mentioned in regards to buying one.
I may add that this was a fair time ago, as im now a pensioner in my late 70s.
So having watched and listened carefullly to your review, you have now given me food for thought about this car.
As im changing my Moka 1.4. Turbo.at the end of the year, and if i was thinking of buying a Skoda car.Could you please advise me, what be a good choice for me and my good lady.
We need to stick to an Suv.or a Cuv.type car with a higher and exit entry, and must have front and rear sensors also. Your advice would be very much appreciated.Thanks in advance.
Hi there James. Thank you so much for your comment. I am really happy that you have enjoyed the video. In terms of Skodas the cars that would suit you and your good lady would be the Karoq and the upcoming Kamiq which is similar in size to the Seat Arona. Both cars have a higher ride height. Both will come with DSG and I believe the Kamiq will also have the 1.5 TSI. In that respect the power will feel similar to the Mokka. I hope this has been helpful and please feel free to ask anything else.
I will also mention that both those cars can be fitted with front and rear sensors as well as a reversing camera. The SEL Karoq comes with front and rear sensors as standard.
Can I put a flashdrive of music in the usb socket or is it purely for charging a phone..
Not sure whether it's Skoda company police specific to the UK, but over here in Germany, you get both the Diesel and the TSI 150bhp engines with front-wheel drive. I've ordered a 150bhp TSI DSG mid-September, scheduled to arrive in November, and I'm so chuffed about it.
It's available now in the UK which is good news
1. How quiet is the car on highway speed?
2. How good is the normal and the high beam lighting?

Great review mate! Just got my Kodiaq two months ago so it´s great to se this review to. But you talk about 4x4, the info i got on it is that 4x4 kicks in when needed and the rest of the time its front wheel drive?! Ofcourse it could be diffrent on the Kodiaq but since its Skoda they might have built the Karoq with the same parts?
David Husberg thanks for the comment. I’m glad to hear you’re loving your Karoq. When I mention the 4x4 it’s mainly due to the extra weight the car carries as a result. Both Kodiaq and Karoq will drive FWD unless you change the drive mode or the car loses traction.
Is it really that the gear box has changed?

Buying Kodiaq sportline instead, so not really gutted, just my wallet hurts now :)
Karoq is available again, delivery time is 3-4 months

@@nathanstewart3612 sorry for late reply been on holiday, it's a manual just towed a 1.4 ton caravan and still did 34mpg, can not recommend one enough.

hi! awesome review. i had a question,if the 1.5 tsi didnt feel slow? i ordered one and i had volvo with 250 ps so i dont know if it wont feel slow for me.
Thank you for your comment. The 1.5 is a great all-round engine for the Karoq but if you fancy a bit more poke there is the 2.0 TSI with 190bhp.
@@AutoBears Hi again! Just got my Karoq last week and i have driven 1500km already.. I dont find it slow and the 7speed dsg is awesome. Karoq is very good with 1.5tsi and i have no regrets. Thank you for your review..

Slobodan Obradović thanks for your comment. These are really 2 very different cars. The X3 will be very premium and cost a lot more than the Karoq. You will save yourself a large sum of money with the Karoq.
First one of your videos I’ve watched. I’m stuck between choosing a Karoq Sportline or Edition or the facelifted Ateca FR Sport. The Ateca is coming in cheaper but you can’t add options on them anymore whereas I can spec a Karoq as much as I like. But then the new Ateca is the next generation so is fresh. Decisions decisions...
I decided on the facelift Ateca Xperience 1.5 DSG as it was a better drive and very good value.
@@Tattvadarzin. the only issue I have with the Ateca is that every one of them is missing the options I would add. You’d think the Xperience Lux would have it all but it doesn’t. That’s really the only reason I’m swaying towards the Karoq
Hi, does it have option to close sunroof with fabric material, so sun can't go in if I want to. I hope you know what I mean, like double roof?
impeRAtoR28161621 thank you for your comment. Yes it does have the fabric cover for the sunroof. It’s not the quickest of covers but gets the job done.

Thank you for the comment Dan. On certain specs a camera is standard. If not it will be an optional extra.
Any chance you could mention what mpg you were getting on test?
Jez Stokes thanks for the comment. Apologies I forgot to put it on the screen. I averaged around 32 mpg around town.
Auto Bears - Yes, not great is it?
Jez Stokes it’s not too bad but as mentioned the 4x4 drivetrain does reduce mpg. The SEL trim will be more economical in FWD.
The Skoda group doesn't think and take time to see what the other group manufacturers do. It gets its tech along with Seat after AUDI, VW. Just like the new left to right indicators. Audi had them in 2015 , now Skoda can get them in 2020. Premium, mainstream and budget. Handmedowns , the Skoda can never be better than Audi or VW for cutting edge tech
Angus McDonald hi Angus. Thank you for your comment. That certainly was the case with Skoda’s of old after being bought by VW. Of course Audi will always lead the way first (hence their expense), followed by VW when it comes to tech. My comment is regarding innovation and ease of use. Practicality as a family car manufacturer. Hence being “more” than Audi and VW, even today.
That arm rest looks so low ?
You can pull it up and then lock it at a much higher position, ideal for resting your arm on whilst driving.
Gutted you can’t get Varioflex rear seats on the Sportline! I don’t get why not 😭
It is a shame. I believe it's because its based on the SE not the SEL.
Auto Bears you can’t even spec it as an option, I don’t see why not? There’s nothing physically preventing it! 😢

your prediction that the sportline won't be available in 2WD turned out incorrect - in case you want to update the vid :-) In fact the 1.5tsi you're driving in the video is now only available in 2wd.

4wheel drive isn’t permanent it’s a selection it drives 2wheel drive until you select
