There is so much misinformation here. First of there is no "Electronic LSD" in the Thar. LSD stands for a Limited Slip diff (which none of these SUVs have). Thar has a Electronically actuated Locking Diff in the rear. Gurkha (AFAIK) has mechanically actuated Locking diff in front and rear. As a thumb rule, Front+Rear Lockers is better than just rear, and manually actuated is better (simpler, more robust mechanism) than electronically actuated. However, most people will never encounter a situation where a front locker is required, since traction control (BLD) is enough to get you out of a tough spot.

Jimny is all-rounder in terms of performance, practicality , familier , compact , onroad price top manual transmission 12.5 lakhs after discount. Low service maintenance cost and service centre available everywere with no complaints. ❤ Jimny is above all.

And what extra features you are getting in ROXX? 70% of extra features are not usable in daily drive. And the biggest problem is worst service experience with mahindra. No doubt Roxx is good vehical if we compare jimny with features wise. But in terms of practically jimny is more capable. We need only tyres update in jimny. Only jimny is the best for middle class people. And less features vehical is far better then full featured vehical. Less issues more reliable and pocket friendly. In half of roxx price we are getting 4x4 offroader. And there is no other 4x4 vehical can beat the price of jimny.

The most practical car here is Jimny. It can be used for city daily use, onroad, offroad, can mount ladder and roof rack which is very important for offroad camping and overlanding, very capable performance, useful is narrow mountains, rivers and jungle roads, easy to park anywhere, less shaky while driving. Here in north India in hilly Himalayan areas, nothing comes close to jimny
I think every car out these three have their own practicality points thar roxx is like an overall good car but with less fuel efficiency with good road presence, force gurkha is fun to drive car with Mercedes g class type looks, whereas jimny is also a good car but it has a very compact design for a suv car.
Life of Jimny is 15 years and price is 15 Lakh . It’s 1 lakh per year while . Thar is 3 lakh/ per year and Gurkha 2.2 lakh per year . This is estimate within service cost . So clearly Jimny is most balanced and worthy

Recent owners of 5 door Gurkha reported some problems and 4×4 version of tech laden mahindra Marshall aka thar roxx will be expensive.
Great work in the comparo, Rachit. However, you are clearly carrying forward a negative bias for the Jimny and a forward bias for the THAR. 1. You mentioned that the Jimny has a regular wheel as a spare, please do your homework before going public, the Jimny has ALL 5 alloys (you need to take off the smart cover to see it, which you didn't). 2. You did not broach the topic of FE as the Jimny would be a clear winner and the ROXX would be put to shame. 3. The capability of the Jimny with stock tyres (not A/T) is a tad better than the ROXX in similar situations with A/T tyres and a clear power advantage. 4. The timed tests should have been done with a MT Jimny, not the AT, which would upshift earlier than one could hold onto in the MT. 5. In the ROXX, the big suitcase is placed straight up to make space, whereas in the Jimny it is placed lying down. The space in the Jimny is therefore, better usable than the ROXX. With poor rearward visibility in these cars (owing to the spare wheel), the luggage placement in the ROXX is a safety concern, where as it isn't in the Jimny. Hope the feedback is taken positively.
They also forgot to add, Jimny is a good car, if you are on Budget, or if you want to run it commercially, or upgrading from Hatch Backs, so can compromise on space. If you want to drive personally, go with Thar. Jimny is not a good city car. It's a poor man's 4 wheel drive, unless you are short on Budget, you'd never go with it. And last but not the least, Jimny is a Japanese manufacturer car, while Thar Roxx is an Indian manufacturer car.
Gurkha is a classic in new era..only true enthusiastic drivers can use it.....roxx is a go anywhere suv for middleclass rich....jimny is an allrounder as an offroader...ie in practical sense jimny only costs 15lkh for topend while 4wd of others reach above 22...so one can buy scorpio n middle variant for long trips+ base model jimny for offroad...its the most relliable combo better than roxx and gurkha
11:54 Jimny is a 4 seater. Its very good shoulder room for what it is, a 4 seater. That's the feedback I got in my Jimny by occupants in the back seat when 2 people sat there. Also, they liked the theater like seating where the back row is higher.

Force has been using a very prehistoric and out dated differential. Try using it on a grass patch and you can understand. This is my personal experience as a ex-Force user.

Gurkha has cable operated manual Locking diff front and rear, and this new thar 5 door has Electronic locking diff rear which can be manually operated via button and has BLD at front not LSD neither on rear nor front. LSD locks based on RPM, ELD and LSD has totally different principles.
So Gurkha has third row which limits the storage but the + point is it the only 7 seater from these three Offroaders right? If Gurkha owner removes one rear seat then they still have 6 seater and better storage than Roxx.
21:27 this is because the Jimny comes with recirculating ball steering mechanism which is particularly good off road. Also, it is an electric power steering, and it is also dampened.
What no one talks about is Dpf issue in the diesel engines which thar has. If you take a petrol thar mileage is may be 6-7 in cities. Imagine your in highway or in the hills and you get dpf issue or a niggle in thar wiring harness and your stuck with your family in the middle of nowhere. Where as jimny is a petrol giving you 12-13 mileage and automatic is good for city and highway at 100( safe speed) And if jimny breaks down(most probably it wont japanese bulletproof reliability) you can get it repaired quiet easily and in the middle of nowhere also service center is present or a mechanic who can make it run somehow.Its called peace of mind which middle aged men want😊. By next year used jimny will be under 8 lakhs🎉🎉

Liked your vid but comparing electronic LSD with manual diff locks is not wise man. Also you don't need to be in 4x4 in Gurkha to engage diff locks. You can easily pull rear/front diff lock and be in 4x2 and this manueveres easily. Overall nice quality content.

It's not about tyre in Gurkha sir.its about the ESP(traction control)in the jimny and the thar whereas Gurkha doesn't have ESP it only comes with the ABS.

Fact: Gurkha has most powerful Diff locks , It’s Mechanical , means you pull that lever when you want , and it’s better than electronic LSD of Thar .

the offroading test was the best part and also i was excited to see the performance of thar roxx, ( it would be more exciting to see cars like nexon, xuv700 awd, etc do the same offroad test ) anyways good video

Definitely, Mahindra is going to update 3 door hence clearing the stock. Major updates will be in the steering, suspension and 360 degree camera.
I am not sure about the spare wheel but in the Alpha AT, the spare wheel has an alloy just like the rest of the wheels

Thar Roxx >>> Thar in off road. We have tried that too. Because of Electronic LSD, and crawl functions it makes it easier and better ride makes a lot more comfortable.

I think Mahindra should give entrance to rear seats of Thar 3-door like Gurkha did. from rear and captain seats. it will be easy to move in and out for rear passenger.
Liked your vid but comparing electronic LSD with manual diff locks is not wise man.
Also you don't need to be in 4x4 in Gurkha to engage diff locks.
You can easily pull rear/front diff lock and be in 4x2 and this manueveres easily.
Overall nice quality content.

I have been driving for 8 and 9 hour in a day and also in mountain... 227 km every day by jimny for almost one year a love driving jimny... Before that i was riding thar but it was not practical...

It's not about tyre in Gurkha sir.its about the ESP(traction control)in the jimny and the thar whereas Gurkha doesn't have ESP it only comes with the ABS.
