That was Very Helpful. I an having a problem with my printouts having a solid thin black line about a 1/2" from the left margin going from the top of the page to the bottom of the page. If you print a single page, it does Not happen, if you print more than one page, it always happens. How do I remove that thin black line?
I understand on what you just explained but I have a question on how to move the rectangle so that its top and bottom edges encompass the text on the page, and align the rectangle to the center of the page where the shape appear at the vertical position .09 below the paragraph.
That sets it for the complete document page setup. That's a problem when you want the last page in a chapter NOT to be justified. How do you achieve that?
Hi David, Highlight the last page text, then go to the Page Setup dialog box, Layout tab, and change the Vertical Alignment to Center (as shown in video). THEN, instead of clicking OK, change the Apply to: box to the 'Selected Text' option and it'll only apply it to your last page. I hope this helps.
im trying to get the text to print vertical, how do you do that on 365, has to be a better way then a text box. im trying to print flash cards on flashcards, and yes I could do them by hand, but when you're writing out 400 flash cards which now are 800 that is a lot of time, energy, and hand cramps... thank you
Every time I go to center my cover-page it centers it, however, it moves that selected text (including everything in the header) down to the center of the next page instead of leaving it on the cover-page, which leaves the cover-page blank except for the header; this also moves my abstract onto page -3 along with my cover-page-header as well. And my fourth page text is just half-way down the page. Is there any explanation for this? I'm on Mac.
I think all the time and effort spacing out the content to centre or justify content on a page when it can all be done with the click of a mouse. Duh!!!!

This is good but only works for the windows version of Word 2016. If you're a mac user the page setup dialogue launcher isn't there.

Looks like I have the same version of Word as you but my menu bar for LAYOUT is different and my vertical alignment option is grayed out.
This is applicable for the whole page, how do we adjust this for a paragraph or cell?
select the button indicates "APPLY TO:" then click on "selected....."
