Finally!!!!!! Someone smart enough to cover your lathe bed before you started applying and spraying finish on your project. Thank you from a retired shop teacher that would have pulled his hair out if he saw a student doing what I have seen time after time on these woodworking shows.
I would say that you were quite fortunate to have this wonderful figure hiding......awaiting your talents to bring it to life! Very good Andy, as always...
Andy it’s such joy to watch you turn a piece of wood that others would either burn in their fireplace or just throw away into the beautiful art piece you create. You have the eyes 👀 of a master.
I was in middle school back in the 70's when I first used a lathe. It is one one the most satisfying power tools a wood worker can use. I have watched many of your videos and am amazed with the creation that you have made. Well done!!!!!
Another impressive video. It's wonderful to see how wood takes form as you work on it. I don't know why these videos you post ease my anxiety, but I hope you keep sharing them with us. Thank you Andy.
So, if you pause at 7:33, look at the piece at the 7 O clock position, I see a face, ears, forehead etc, looks kinda like a genie of sorts to me. I thought that was gonna be the emerging man. The best part about a beautiful piece of work/art is what we see in it. Beautiful.
You produce some amazing pieces and I like the method of presentation. It is very satisfying to watch a highly skilled craftsman at work, I just wish I had access to the lovely wood you have. Thank you so much for the inspiration.
Ca glue has saved my arse when working on things more times than I care to count especially when working with "punky" wood on something (awesome expression, I like it) BTW I tend to use a medium grit sanding block to remove it from skin when it doesn't easily peel off, the sandpaper removes the glue but leaves the skin unharmed, pumice stone in the bath works alright too. Yes I use my fingers to spread the glue when I'm working with it, definitely not something I'd recommend for anyone to try but that's just what I've found works best for me
When started cutting the first circle and all the “interesting” bark edges were cut off my heart screamed “NOOOOOOOO! 😱😱😱😱. Oh me of little faith 🥵 As usual you uncovered the hidden beauties of the wood. You ARE the master.👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍.
Andy you're a craftsman. What you do with these burrs is brilliant, I love to see the dig out of the rot and the transformation with the added epoxy. I'm starting my woodturning course on Wednesday and I'm itching to have a go with burrs, they have such a lot of character. Thanks again for sharing your inspirational videos 😊 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
Excellent job accentuating the natural features of the bowl! It’s not only beautiful but also one of my favorites I’ve seen on all of YT. Outstanding! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
That ended up looking superb, when you started out with such a thin piece as this one was I thought you were creating a plate of some kind, but the final product is excellent, good video.
I like that you slowed the video to real time so us non-lathe workers could hear what you hear, especially when it was still heavy to one side in the beginning. I'm so used to watching Nick Zammetti that the lack of music and talking it was a "little weird" at first haha!
Your project turned out beautifully. I hardly ever had a strict shape that determined any of my projects(which were usually teaching demos). I usually let the material be the guiding factor of how it was going to look.
Oh, I get it.The figure struggling to escape the dish is symbolic of the artist's struggle to make something out of that piece of crappy wood! (Good job!)
My favorite kind of turning wood -- gnarly to the extreme :-) Came out beautifully, Andy. I know you probably had to use epoxy and CA glue on the seriously punky bits, but I've had success flooding punky wood with a half & half mix of cellulose lacquer and lacquer thinner (basically sanding sealer without the sodium stearate soap), followed with full strength lacquer. I've done some pieces that are probably 50% lacquer by weight :-) Clyde
Thanks Clyde .. cheers for the tips I do use half and half cellulose / thinners I will have to try it .. I just bought some wood hardener to try the type you would use on wet rot I have 2 more large burls off this tree which are as gnarly as this so any tips are gratefully received ..cheers Andy
Both side are so beautiful, I'd have to turn it upside down every other day...….or stand it edgewise on a rack so both sides could be viewed...…...AWESOME!
No music, no voice over, talent and a beautiful bowl. Perfect in every way.
Wow the colours ended up looking really exquisite

I started wood turning a month ago cause i saw videos of your great work. Thanks for that, its really amazing!
As your emerging man, you have emerged victorious from this challenge! Lovely!
Thanks
That's awesome! Thank you. Love watching grain pop.
Thanks Cindy
That's an awesome result from such a crap lump of wood. Well done my friend 👍👍
You must have great vision. To be able to create something so stunning out of what to me looked like a lump of firewood, at best. 🖤
The man is applauding you, Andy, just like I am. Glad you stuck with this amazing piece!
Phil
Thanks Phil
This one's gotta lotta character in it and that's what makes it even nicer.

Looks like a runner crossing the finish line at the end of a marathon, that arms in the air pose.
What amazing things are discovered. Really like the stain used.
Love the grain beautiful piece

As Ridley Walker said it's the heart of the wood lovely job son as always Scotland sends its regards
It’s amazing what nature can provide and what could be done with it

Cool. Liked hearing the real sounds of your work.
Nice Andy and of course, want that one!! 👌💕💕

positively stunning conversation piece!!!
Dryad! Lovely bowl ☺️
Great job on bringing that burl through the danger zone! I kept waiting for it to blow up any second.
Thanks Tully ..Always be ready to dodge the log ..lol

That's just beautiful
Thank you. I enjoy your approach. You help me to look with a more creative perspective. Again, thank you.
Excellent piece and great achievement. How that didn’t explode I’ll never know. Well done👍👍
thanks Len
Just think how so many things are hidden like this and found by the artist. Too cool! Thanks!
thanks James
Yes, indeed there is a man coming out of that bowl. Amazing and beautifully made. I don't think there is anything punky about it!
Thank you
Another BEAUTIFUL piece Mr. Andy! Glad to see your fingers getting better.
Thanks Shawna
SCP-106 HAS BROKEN OUT OF THE PIECE OFWOOD AT GATE A, FIRE THE HID TURRETS AT WILL. DO NOT LET IT ACROSS THE BRIDGE. Fantastic work as always, Andy!
Simple, but artistic. Beautiful turning.
Yet again Andy another nice piece. Very hard to turn. But you definitely done well. Well done Andy.
Thanks Nigel
I love the lack of music in your videos. It can be detracting at times. Thanks fobanother great video.
Thanks Adrian
I've been waiting for this video since I saw the picture on instagram!! Great work!
Thanks Marijana ..
Quand le tournage sur bois devient du grand art. Magnifique travail 👍
Красота дерева и структура его, вот это красота от природы. Кто работал с деревом это понимает. Удачи Andy👍
mom he is at it again - WOW = GENIUS
Just for fun, don't fill after the drill....and just leave the openings and coat with the oil... nice earthy texture :) LOVE your work man.
AP man that is some awesome wood grain absolutely stunning thanks for sharing your knowledge and craftsmanship
Thanks Donald
Beautiful! You're a true artist
Thanks Ingrid
Great result with a difficult piece of wood Andy. Cheers, Jim
Thanks Jim ..
Crowd: Which type and shape of wood do you prefer to use to turn it into a masterpiece?
Andy Phillip: Yes!
That looked a difficult piece to turn, well done :)
Thanks James ..
I like how mysterious the title is. I see it. I see the emerging man... or are you the emerging man? Dun Dun DUN!
Beautiful; I see an angle by a child in the bowl.💙💚❤💙
That is a very beautiful piece.
Thanks 👍

Dude! You find some of the coolest looking pieces of wood!
Masterful work art.
Very sweet Andy, that looks great
Thanks Sandy
I think that I would have stopped at 5 minutes and added some colored epoxy. Beautiful turning Andy!
Wow. Beautiful piece!!

Thanks Kim
That is a very nice bowl 👍
Thanks Jerry
wow, I don't know what I would use it for, but it is amazing!
Well done. Awesome. Cheers
Awesome work, as usual. I find one coat of sanding sealer before the ca helps considerably with the ca staining but still penetrates just fine.
thanks Steve
this is the reason why I love turning burls, you just never know what's inside.
Was wondering about the title, but as you went on I could see him emerging, great piece x
thanks Diane
Wow. Great job my friend 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
