Bro as someone who grew up poor and who is a middle-class guy now... I never took vacation when I was young and I always thought I was missing out on life. But now that I can afford it; like recently I blew a few thousand of pounds on a 2 week holiday that I didn't enjoy except for the 3 days I was on a safari where I was watching elephants go about their business. Keep up the good work for being honest with yourself and being free to express it. You free others in the process.

I’m south Asian, not Jewish, but I’m finding so many parallels between our cultures especially around wealth and the role it plays in our communities.

The certain barrier that went down here....Perfect wording Eli....I felt Dovid, when he actually stated and I believe Totally honestly, his financial position made me feel very comfortable and not overwhelmed as I subconsciously thought "Oh yeah this guy has 600 k in this 1 mil in that another huge amount in this.
So that was refreshing.Love how candid he is and practical.
Just 1 question " How many Homes or properties 😂...Your Show Eli is the glue of my thoughts I wasny sure were correct. Now I have more of a Picture of my jigsaw I wasn't sure of....Many thanks.

What a wonderful podcast! For me it's extra insightful because I wasn't raised religious at all - I can't speak Hebrew or Yiddish (except some naughty words haha) and this podcast helps me a little to understand my ancestors/modern cousins better. Many thanks!

Finances are kept private because the Gemara teaches us that Beracha comes to that which is hidden from the eye. It is a basic aspect of modesty. I would also add that it would be discouraging if some became aware of the gap between themselves and their counterparts.

tHank you all,. The details of hearing actual numbers is refreshing and most helpful. Do you recall the joke where the Doctor stood outraged telling the tree company Arborist " I'm a doctor...and I don't even charge that much"?
"And neither did I when I was a doctor" replied the Arborist.

Thinking about money is a good thing, Rebbe Bashevkin. Hashem put you on earth for a divinely appointed purpose. When you serve that purpose, you shall be happy. I guarantee it! Get in touch. Let's talk! What've you got to lose?

I was born a Muslim and would consider myself a moderate or liberal but def practicing Muslim .. by overall and western/modern standards .. I also was brought up in Brooklyn within neighborhoods which border places like boro park .. later in life I moved to central NJ, often passing thru Lakewood .. all areas with strong orthodox Jewish communities.. I've always admired the community as a whole and have had great experiences over the years when speaking to rabbis from my local areas ... They have many qualities and characteristics which we should all aim to follow, if half the country lived by these standards, aside from the religious aspect .. just the same moral compass ... We would live in a much better world ... I hope mire Muslims can see how close our religions are, and take time to engage with/learn from our Jewish brothers and sisters ...

Extremely dumb episode - a rich kid never has to struggle to get to the age of 25 etc etc all they can do essentially is screw up - no we really don’t care about what type of shirts you wear , and this is part of the cultural problem of being interested in what the next guy is doing , this generates the want/need to emulate and spend like the Schwartz’s/joneses. The main point is live within your means and not get caught up with what everyone is doing . Think !!! actions have consequences- and the world wasn’t meant for everyone to be Uber wealthy , as a whole the finances of the overall community have a way of working itself out
