I think it’s the boomers that think that because I’m Gen X with a 21 year old son and very aware that he’s Gen Z and not a millennial. You can also partly blame Ellen degenerate for that because she’s a boomer that doesn’t have any kids or grandkids and she would often invite Gen Z on her show and call them a millennial.

(Puts official grumpy old woodwork teacher hat on.) Yeah, get your own bloody music, kids! Stop bleeding the life and soul out of stuff that was played on actual instruments once!
And not something that sounds like a misaligned rear derailleur!

(Puts hat back in the angry box...)

So yes I have been listening to the same music for 35 yrs because I literally still have all my CD’s, tapes and vinyls. Including the bootlegged tapes from London and Bangkok. Gen-X'rs can laugh at ourselves...that's what makes us resilient, adaptive and strong survivors. But don't mess with us or else we'll beat you to a pulp with our VCR tapes.

Don't remember where I was when Kurt died but I remember Princess Di's death in vivid colour.
And I only listened to JJJ...back when it was good! (I've heard that's a really annoying thing we say to the young 'uns but it's true and that's that).

1966 here ~ we really had the best of the eras - great times to be a child, teenager and young adult I think.

I was born in 1983, apparently the start of the millennial generation (what was originally called Gen Y). I swear I identify with Gen X way more than I do my own generation. 😄

we're called the micro generation: 1977-1985 - we knew what life was like pre computers and mobile phones and had to carry coins for the phone box and played Nintendo when it first came out, and had to handwrite assignments etc. But we also knew how to do stuff with computers and mobile phones etc. that's the microgeneration!

So many of the things you mentioned also apply to us born in the early 50's. Maybe not the music or TV shows but certainly a fair few of the others. First ep of The Simpsons was on the Tracey Ullman show and yes I watched it.

Spot on with making kids watch 80s films. But to be fair they were the best films ever made, and the 80s was the greatest decade there's ever been.
