- When the wealthiest man in the city double-books a group of buttoned-up opera singers and a band of bawdy comedians as dinner entertainment, the fun begins. Ariadne and her fellow singers have to share their drama (and the stage) with the saucy comedy troupe. This opera-within-an-opera, set on the Greek isle of Naxos, tickles your funny bone one minute and tugs at your heartstrings the next. Richard Strauss’ look at art, fidelity and love is at once divinely comic and achingly tender, enchanting audiences from the beginning to the last note.
The best Dramatic Sopranos with the big voices are the ones that are large and have bigger diaphragms. They're the ones that usually sound the best than the thinner ones so I don't know why the f*ck people are fat shaming this incredibly talented woman. Bet none of them couldn't sing such masterpieces like her.
Sublime performance and I will forever be a fan
Just heard this lady sing Sieglinde in Edinburgh with Simon O'Neil and she was magnificent. Completely stole the show. She sang next to Chistine Goerke and Bryn Terfel, both on top form, and was still wonderful. Brava Amber, looking forward to hearing more from her.
I was there too and agree entirely. Out of a well-established international caste her performance caught everyone's attention, enraptured by her glorious voice, commanding presence, excellent diction and superb acting. I've been attending the Edinburgh Festival for well over 40 years, including performances by Jessye Norman, and I believe the world has been lucky enough to find her successor. Let's hope we can hear her again.
Damn .... it’s very rare to have a beautiful voice that can also sing the shit out of this and she delivered ... wow wow wow 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Bravo!!!!!
WONDERFUL!
Unglaubliche Stimme! 🙂
This is a voice....
Can see the wheels spinning, like an undergrad. Unpolished, unfinished. It's how she always has been.
She's about to sing her first Turandot here in Vancouver! My home town has seen some amazing debuts over the decades - Joan Sutherland's North American debut as Donna Anna in 1958, her first Norma, Lucrezia Borgia and Merry Widow, Marilyn Horne's first Azucena. The comforting part of getting old is that I was there for all of them.
i was a super in Sutherlands first Norma. one of my great memories
I am performing Turandot with her in December at the lyric opera house in Chicago!
This is vocally a TRAIN WRECK. It’s amazing to me what some people think is acceptable.
It's nice to have a plush middle voice etc but she's a soprano, those high notes should NOT stick out like that as if she's a mezzo. In fact, there are quite a few mezzos who can handle high notes better than this chick. It's terrible. And you're on a professional stage singing STRAUSS. U better bring the breath management to the table. Constantly sounding like every cutoff of every phrase is abrupt like she's gasping for air. Sounds like an undergrad attempting to sing big arias and not being ready yet. There have been a few times I've done an aria in a coaching and realized I'm struggling too much, lemme leave this alone for now. This is one of those moments. But no... here's a contract. Sing the entire role. just another unfortunate THE EMPEROR'S NEW CLOTHES singer thrust onto the stage a la Anthony Roth Costanzo, Angela Meade and this one here, among many others who sound like garbage but everyone claps. Bravo, mediocrity! Been going on since the turn of this century 2000
beautiful sound, and nice legato, beautiful spinny pps!!! German needs work. Too much glottal attack on the 'nimm ES von mir...'. and other funny sounding mispronunciations. Nevertheless, her voice sounds real good, connected and resonant and placed well! Poor thing, she's running out of breath because she's carrying so much extra weight. I can relate and wish her well.
Good voice but doesn’t she watch the conductor? She comes in wrong three times in this short clip..
Sorry, folks but this is the wrong kind of voice for Ariadne. And like many American singers, Wagner is focused on the sound instead of the expression and technique a difficult role such as Araidne needs.
Giant voice.... and giant Body‼️
And you're a giant jerk ! Next time, keep your stupid comments on your side!
Good voice, horrible look
She sounds greats but is getting awfully large.
grotesque!
