      That's what fingers are for... You can hold different tools in your fingers and the hawk at the same time.

    If you use ladders for most of the day you know you do everything in your power to make it work with what you have on your belt and on the top tray. I don’t do drywall but knowing you don’t have to get off the ladder until you run out of mud is nice. It’s like if your an electrician you wouldn’t have to get down to grab your drill, impact, hammer, channels, flatty and Kleins

      A lot of us don't use ladders we use mini Baker pair of stilts or a bucket

    I normally put a powerful magnet in each pants pocket, and just CLANK the tool I'm not using to the outside of the pocket. This tool might make me look less goofy, thank you.

      Brilliant, I like using a pan so I will now be using magnets, thanks. I don't like the idea of tool handles sticking out of the hawk.

    I only use a hawk for stucco, mud pan for joint compound, back pockets for knives.

      Should probably be a flask with a valve straw. Less spillage when you wobble around on the ladder. Safety first.

    I would scrape corners or anything before I even mix the modern. Put it on my Hawk as it starts to set the instant. You put it into the air.. You don't waste time doing prep work while you're mud is curing on your hawk

    You make that look so easy, and for any homeowner, that is a tough skill to master. 32 years and 7 houses and the best advice about drywall is to use less mud, and keep the coats thin. For big jobs? Hire a professional.

    I use a magnet on my ladder. It's just a magnet and a steel chain. It holds a greater variety of tools, bits and screws.

    In 1979, I was working as delivery for a construction supply company….mainly delivering drywall and joint compound to the worksite.
    The guys who used a hawk were considered dinosaurs. I only ever saw one guy using one and he was in his 60s. I was 20 so he was ancient to me.
    Everyone else used the bread loaf looking pan.

    Ive got one,dont use it for that as im a plasterer but it keeps my hawk flat and stops it from bending which annoys me andsaves me buying a new oneevery so often

    I’ve found that I can usually hold my 12 inch trowel, 6 inch & 4 inch blade in the same hand as my hawk, then I ALWAYS keep my 3 inch in my back pocket.

    I don't understand where the dividing line between using knives and a pan vs a whatever that stucco stuff is. I'm in SW Missouri. We use knives and a pan here.

    When I get frustrated I use my hands and just start throwing and smearing mud everywhere... After sanding, people say it looks like an intentional swirl design. Lmao 😂

    As someone who knows a thing or two about hanging and mudding twice is a tragic understatement. Try 10 times. He made the video in less time than I spent cussing about who moved my trial again.

    That's not how we do it, but I respect your tips. Never do drywall on a ladder. Use sheetrock benches or stilts. Good luck!

    After watching a few drywall videos, I wonder why we ever stopped using lath and plaster. There's so much plastering in drywall, you might as well do the entire wall.
