Regardless of what you think of S7 and Leviathans, Dick's actor did such a phenomenal job that he was definitely the highlight for me. Had this whole chilling, predatory, charismatic presence which made him enjoyable to watch. I would have loved for them to do more with him.
I agree. Dick's actor did such a great job, that I was honestly sad he never got a cameo during the time Dean and Cas were in Purgatory. It would have been nice to see him make a return during the final season or something, even if it was just for one episode.
@@Hei_Darkfire I don't think Leviathans had souls. Or if they did, we never heard about them. It's true that Purgatory was the resting place for monster souls, but God locked up the Leviathan alive. They can die, but all we ever see is them alive and then their corpses growing flowers. So once Dean killed Dick, I think that was it for him.
@@urthboundmisfit But we do see Leviathans in Dean's flashbacks when he was trying to escape purgatory. And since they all left when it was opened up the first time, then where did the leviathans come from if they weren't ones killed and their souls sent back to Purgatory?

All he said was they should work together because they “control large interests” he doesn’t offer them help help with Sam and Dean, or resources they might need. When Dick questions why they should work together, Crowley can’t even answer such a basic question when offering an alliance. For such a business savvy demon, this was not a smart play by Crowley.
I got the sense that Crowley felt entitled to have Dick's partnership because when Dick asks why they should be allies Crowley simply responds that it's because he brought him out of Purgatory. Of course that was Crowley's mistake because he didn't take the time to judge Dick's character
The Leviathans didn't need the Demons. In truth, they are natural enemies, just like the Vampires and other monsters. Demons cause chaos and kill humans.

Dick didn’t want to work with Crowley because the demon tried to enslave their souls for his purposes. Also, Dick sees demons as evil and untrustworthy to work with. He is right not to work with Crowley.
You know... I think Crowley and Dick should have worked together. Crowley's demons could have helped Dick keep the Winchesters off their back, and helped Dick get what he needed to make sure his plans went smoothly. I mean, Crowley only wants their souls, not their bodies, so the Leviathans don't have to get protective of their food (though some here and there do eat humans which Crowley could just say the Leviathans can eat them if they do). They could have easily worked together and probably won. Especially with what happens later when Crowley is actually needed to help make the weapon that kills Dick.
I’m pretty sure the immortality, invulnerability and eons of isolation has convinced the Leviathans that no one besides God is on their level so yeah, they look down on everyone and they’re particularly not fond of demons because they are just spirits so Leviathans can’t eat them, but demons are ambitious and crafty enough to be an annoyance so they get a special kind of disdain.
It's probably because as far as Leviathans are concerned the demons are doing nothing other than possessing humans who are supposed to be their food supply. So they serve no purpose to them
I really didn’t have a lot of respect for the leviathans, they just didn’t seem that smart or threatening once the borax thing was discovered. They had overly elaborate strategy and were horrible at maintaining even temporary alliances cause of their arrogance. In this supernatural universe they were essentially uniting all demons, humans, angels and other monsters against them and they weren’t subtle about it.
Ever see the movie Phantoms? Ben Affleck’s character has a monologue scene talking about the monster in that movie that I think describes the Leviathans perfectly: “It only thinks it’s all-powerful. For millions of years it’s lived where no one could touch it, nothing could kill it. THAT’S what makes it vulnerable.”
I wish they made the leviathans kill armies of demons and even show a prince of hell to kill some. It would have given the monsters the proper respect.
What everyone needs to understand, is The name "Leviathan" doesn't mean a cowardly spirit who uses fear against it's enemies and on it's victims nor does it mean a giant or titanic sea monster that lives underneath the surface of the oceans. In reality, the name "Leviathan" actually means, a species of creature that is neither celestial, demonic, supernatural or even natural and that is what makes these monsters so powerful and dangerous. They are also creatures which are by their very natures unclouded by conscious, remorse or delusions of morality including not having any true form of human emotions or desires.
