I'd wager he even made Dick feel clever by catching a few sneaky loopholes in the contract, which Crowley put on purpose to raise his confidence that he was in control. Now, he *still* made a plan B in case Crowley betrayed him, but he wasn't going to just kill Crowley and *guarantee* that the Winchester's come at him with a viable weapon.

I do adore the silent hints that Leviathans devour not just the body but also the soul of their prey, which is why demon deals 'taint' the humans for the Leviathans

I don't think that is quite the case. He holds the contract, and the demon that holds a contract can cancel it if they so choose. Remember back to the episode that introduced hell hounds. Dean trapped the demon that held the guy's contract until she called it off. Then again with the demons that were killing off the victims early. Crowley just dismissed them all when Dean asked him to.
