@@LaineyBug2020Yeah, I like blonde 1.0 Ruby more. I think it was because of how the actresses portrayed them though. From what I’ve heard Cassidy genuinely thought Ruby was actually good, so acted with that nuance of being evil/doing evil things and manipulative but also having some hidden depth. Whereas Ruby 2.0, Genevieve portrayed her as clearly evil and only thinly veiling her manipulation right from the first episode. It wasn’t subtle. So her double cross was only a surprise to Sam - not to the angels, Dean or the audience. Her acting wasn’t bad, not at all. But there just wasn’t the nuance and subtleties that I prefer and saw in blonde, 1.0 Ruby. Though I don’t like Ruby’s character at all. I just prefer season 3 Ruby over season 4.
Meg is like Ruby. Each version is like a different side of her. I feel like blonde Meg is pure evil and brunette Meg has a bit of good in her. Wow blonde Ruby is the opposite she's the good one in the brunette later is just pure evil
I think it’s more so that those are the only sides that they were willing to show. Blonde Ruby was already evil, but she just had to pretend she wasn’t evil to manipulate Sam and get what she wanted. Brunette Meg was still in a lot of ways bad (19:06, just realized now that she’s technically blonde here lol). And she was for a long time loyal to Lucifer, like Ruby was. But I think for Meg’s case specifically, eventually realizing/accepting that things often aren’t a clear-cut, black and white situation did push her to change. MEG: You ever miss the Apocalypse? When I look at Meg 2.0, I always tend to forget how she used to have this weird ass toxic relationship with Sam. It honestly kinda makes their “unicorn” talk in s8 a little more wholesome, in a way, because it’s genuine. Unlike their early seasons interactions that was full of lying and manipulation, and Meg pretending to care about him, in s8 she’s actually just curious about whatever the hell he’s been up to recently, while also very carefully trying to be slightly vulnerable with him, too. In s1, she interacts with Sam like a “caring” friend. She pays attention to whatever he’s going through and listens to his problems (and then uses that to manipulate him into thinking she cares), while not actually giving a damn about him and his brother’s drama. While in s8, even though she’s not particularly emotionally invested in his story about Amelia (her major concern is how “stupid” it is to stop for a dog), she reacts to it genuinely, and relates to his story in her own way. I do completely get why he’s still very wary and untrusting of her though. I just wish the show didn’t kill her off so easily.
I believe her actor has multiple sclerosis and wasn't able to keep up with the physical demands of playing the character anymore. And they didn't want to disrespect her by recasting her again
