You must be a liberal person! Corruption in Hungary! Why not comparing to the EU leadership instead to South Africa and Cuba? Political polarization? Government with 2/3 majority leads according the people’s wishes! Hungary a wonderful country with wonderful people, culture, history, food, wines, palinka and so many other things!
I have a question about Hungarians that I can not find online so I'm hoping someone can answer; Since Hungary has been occupied by the Ottomans for hundreds of years, how much of Hungarian DNA is Turkish?
Throughout history, the Hungarians assimilated many Turkic peoples. Therefore, the Ottoman influence is not considered significant. During the Ottoman occupation, Hungarians were mostly either abducted or killed.
150 years....not hundreds of years......and only half of Hungary was occupied ....Pls. do more research....And you've found one Hungarian here on the Web you can ask.........and I live in Canada..........Any questions?
Corruption is a lie, not proven. Hungary simply does not want to submit to the will of the EU (DS). There are corrupt people, but it's not common, it's rare.
BS. Food has 0% tax (beer and wine is the cheapest in Europe) and it's more safe than almost any other EU nation. 20,000 German retirees moved to Hungary LAST year!
Incorrect. Some essential food has a lowered tax of 18% such as unprocessed meat, milk and flour, but these are exceptions, everything else has 27% tax on it. Alcoholic drinks have 27% tax as well as excise tax which is paid / hectolitre / real alcohol volume and it's rising every year. Yes, bear and wine used to be very cheap, but at the last 4-5 months we've faced the largest food inflation in Europe, the prices went up by and average 39% compared to last year. Beers on average went up by 70%. Depending on where you live, it still can be cheap compared to your country (around 1,5 euro for 0,5L in shops, 3-4 euro for a glass in pubs), but for sure not the cheapest in Europe.
@@umaxen0048 Sorry, I was wrong about egg, milk and meat. I had to double check, those are really 5%. However bread is still 18%. I don't know about the US prices, but Hungary definitely doesn't have the cheapest prices in Europe as of today, nor 0% tax on food.
Well, it is just statistics. We both know that both Cuba and Hungary are painting better pictures about themselves on the statistics than they are. It is hard to measure corruption, probably the best way is to tell each other weirder stories about public procurement, missing 90%+ money from public founds and international aid landing in politicians hands, fired teachers / doctors for political reasons after a protest, election frauds, democracy probably closer to socialist dictatorship, the main political party's friends owning more than 70% of the biggest companies including the ONLY energy provider companies existing :D probably Cuba has these things I just mentioned, it only comes down to how obvious the frauds are :D
