THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for bringing up the front storage lid. I just purchased a 2020 X2 and Polaris sent me a survey and thats what I brought up. I still own a 2007 500 sportsman and the front storage is much much more durable with TWO hinges. I actually feel the ATV is built stronger overall.
@@beastgirl43 Hi, don’t get me wrong. The 2020 is a nice machine but it’s overall made cheaper. Or at least feels it. A few examples are the front storage rack. The 2007 is made from thicker plastic with Metal closures, 2 hinges that don’t flex. The overall plastic on the entire machine in thicker and more durable, the metal tube frame as well. The way the seat attaches on the 2007 much much better. Just overall the 2007 is just beefier. Now the motor on the 2020 is stronger and “snappier” compared to the 2007. Go to a showroom and see that model. It’s nice but just not built as heavy duty. It feels like they just keep cutting corners to save ounces and/or pennies. I get it but I think they’ve gone to far. I sat recently on the Can Am 570. If you get a chance try and find a 2020 to sit on. They built it much nicer and beefier.....I actually might have gone with the Can Am if I had sat on it prior to buying the X2. That says a lot for a guy that has nothing but Polaris ATV’s & sleds Hope that helps :)
Thank you for calling this stuff out! I've loved Polaris but they continue to cut corners in ridiculous obvious ways while the prices keep going up. Like the latches and doors on my $28k ultimate Pro XP.... just ridiculous. I love that 570 but that front rack/lid is a joke. Can't believe they thought that's acceptable on a 9-10 thousand dollar quad.
Thanks for calling them out on the flimsy front rack hinge. It's such a glaring oversight on a really great quality machine. It really doesn't make any sense for such great quads to have such a poorly thought out front rack system. The storage option is killer, but you'd think they could design a hinge or framework or something that would add rigidity and life to something that is going to be used SO often.
Henry M Great video... I have owned (my first and only) Honda Foreman TRX 500 a 2012 with ES and ESP and had good resale when I sold it spring of 2022. It wasn't 100% reliable either as I had freeze up between shifts in the gear, more so in colder sub zero weather and especially when going up a steep hill. Nothing pissed me off in being on a steep hill then having to get stopped by my shifter which I considered a safety issue. It didn't do it as often with more kilometers on it. Sold with 8000 kms or 5000 miles as it was getting dated and started getting into the bigger maintenance. That being said I purchased a 2022 Polaris 570 Trail Edition with the intention of keeping it for at least 4-5 hunting seasons and to be on the safe side got the extended warranty. Issues that was expected the clunking getting into all gears and sometimes take off, was explained by Polaris technician that its the way the clutch is set up and how the helix chucks slap into the gear mechanism. Now that it was explained, that is a quality and poor engineering issue from Polaris so I will hold them accountable should any failures happen during the warranty period. Also the gear shifter (handle) and how it works is substandard compared to the Japanese brands. It's like I'm putting an old tractor into gear. The plus side to the Polaris is the HP and plush suspension, ground clearance, and the AWD system (including low gear selection), the gearing and handling is way above the Honda's performance. In summary I think Honda has reliability and quality on its side for reputation. Polaris has over all better performance, handling and comfort. I'm an older guy at 59 and the comfort and performance was a consideration in my purchase. It was a trade off for reliability.
Thanks Luke, enjoyed your pros and cons of this unit. Our local dealer has one in the show room, looks great, but I'm with you, the front cover is almost an after thought. Not sure weather I want to trade my 19 in on this unit. Maybe I'll just replace all my tires and keep riding. Thanks Luke your opinions are very valuable for novices like myself and my wife.
The new design looks great and the few new improvements are good with two steps forward but then one step back with the flimsy front lid, the horrible location of the belt exhaust, and not to mention the elimination of the rear storage compartment.
The 450HO got this new look as well for 2021, I agree it looks great, but after a season with my 2020 I'd be hard pressed to buy another polaris for almost all the reasons he listed
All they really did was put the 570 engine in the 850-1000 chassis on it and move the battery which means next to no aftermarket support just like the 850-1000's. That 570 trail edition costs $2000 more than what I paid for my 850 basically overpriced and they still need to offer it as a high lifter to compete with the outlander 570 xmr.
I got this ATV, 10 out of 10 for trails and 7 out of 10 mudding, I have not had this for long enough for snow but I am sure it will do good in snow 10 out of 10 would recommend
Man, nice I have a 2022 Sportsman 450 with power steering, it has three levels of power steering assist high, medium, low, I found medium to be the best, dose the 570 Trail not have three levels of assist !
The 570 Touring has 3-mode. Not sure about this model. I'm not the biggest fan of the Polaris EPS system. Max assist is far too much assist and even medium is okay for crawling, but still too much assist. Needs a bit more refinement.
ahh polaris quality two 2014's 570's both had motor failures at 1000 miles, clutch bearing failure, tail lights melted, wire harness shorted out coming off the alternator on both at 1600 miles. im happy to see the battery get moved up though they should have put it back in the rear wheel arch like it use to be. and please get the quality back
Went riding the other night on a group ride with 7 riders. 3 Yamaha Grizzly’s and 4 Polaris, 2 new 570’s and 2 Razors. Both 570’s belts got swamped 10 minutes into the ride. One Razor front differential broke so it got stuck constantly and the other Razor kept over heating. The 3 Yamahas worked flawlessly.
Nice review Luke, I always like that you talk about the good and the not so good, I never would have thought of the front rack hinges. Totally agreed, and I'm sure it will be addressed as a lot of us use our ATV's for both work and play.
Great overview. One thing I'd like to see is a measure of the weight distribution at the tires front to back. I have a 2015 Sportsman 570, and the front is so light that it'll float during some water crossings. Also makes trying to climb sand piles require a second pair of pants, when the front tires start lifting.
Enjoying my new 2021 Sportsman 570 Onyx Trail so far.... but there are a few things I'd change or bring back also. Looking forward to your test ride review, to see if you point them out to!
Going down tomorrow to look at pre-ordering the 2022 version of it. I heard it comes with led lights and a better hinge on the front. I also was told they got rid of the rear storage box or maybe they just moved it. I hope they fixed the power steering issue. Only thing that sucks is I would not get the machine until April or May.
Power steering sensitivity has been a complaint on many Sportsman models but Polaris keeps bumping it up.. It's great for slow speeds but spirited riding definitely suffers.. Very cool machine overall, love the look!
I gotta agree, I turned the handles on a guys brand new 850 sportsman and I think it has more aggressive power steering than my 4000lbs car. My father's new KingQuad 750 isn't anywhere near that power steering.
My brother just a bought a 2021 570. Overall nice machine, but the fit and finish on the front storage rack is extremely lacking. You can see it in this video too, hopefully something Polaris will address because there is no way that will keep the dust and water out. Nothing compared to my 2017 570. This is coming from a guy that only rides Polaris too...
I can agree on a lot of things that he said i have the 2021 sportman 570 just the original one but yes the front rack does need work and also the power steering.
Great overview! I would also mention there is no longer a storage bin in the rear and the front storage is slightly smaller due to the battery relocation.
I was comparing the the 570 Trail specs VS the base 570 with strut up front and there's a 153LB difference. That's quite a bit with 44 hp. Would like to see a comparison
I have the exact same Polaris. I love it! The only thing I'd change is I wish Polaris would make a wireless remote for the winch. Sometimes you need that and I can't help but think that in the grander scheme of things that that upgrade would add too much to the overall price.
Luke, great summary! I picked up this same unit today ! Love the handling and looks! This is my second 570, and this model is super other than the front cargo cover. Thank You Luke, looking forward to your next update!
I had a 2014 570. Beautiful Sportsman. Camouflage skin and the best they offered that year. The cargo cover had snap latches as well as the 2020!! Why they went to rubber hinges is ludicrous. The power steering is real touchy, no room for over steering!!
So far my new 2021 570 model is awesome! The ride is firm and handles the trails well. I like the batter size and location for where it was on my 2014.
Luke I have a 2015 570. Just picked up two of these as well and immediately noticed what I believe to be a clutching difference. The new 2022's felt very sluggish and under powered on hills. We operate at 6,000 ft Plus. Some have recommended changing the weights on the new ones. Do you have any thoughts on this or info on the 2022 clutching?
Like the new look! Would still shop the can-am over this, though. You really can't beat the 570 can am for price - although the polaris tend to be offered well under MSRP which is a big bonus.
I was going to mention how much more convenient that battery location is to keep the battery fresh in the winter, then you showed the battery tender connection. That's a small thing that makes a big difference to me, for winter use.
I routed the battery tender leads up through the rear rack on my last two Sportsmans, as invisible as I could make it. I appreciate the clean, factory solution though. They recognized what people were doing for 20 years so they built it in.
I have an 18 and the cargo lid is held on by 2 plastic pins! They know what they’re doing cause I have had to buy countless number of pins and am on my 2nd lid!! Also had to get front bumper to protect all that flimsy storage. Love to new front suspension. Keep up the great work dirt track/snow relax👍
Buy the 850 you will not regret it. I went from an 09 sportsman 500. The 850 has twice the power at the same fuel economy. I’m sure the new 570 is better than the old 500 in all ways but the extra power of the 850 is well worth the few extra dollars
Im a Polaris owner and really like these new 570s but that front rack setup is beyond ridiculous. How the hell does that even make it off the plant floor.
Traded my 2016 570 in with 5000 miles/740 hours still running original spark plug. Never had a need to take it out once. Still purred like new. Got a zenith blue 2021 EPS.
I just bought a 450, it’s gonna be great around the farm. I’m not much into muddying and all that. But it will be great to use around the farm and hunting. I haven’t rode it yet, but I’m sure it’s gonna do just fine.
Great overview! Can't wait for the review and comparison! It's a shame about the power steering; hopefully an easy programming fix. I could overlook the front rack if the power steering was setup right but for now I think I'll wait a bit longer and see what happens as they get into the market.
Front rack thoughts... ive owned 2007, 2014, and now just ordered this exact trail model. The 2007 front rack was by far the toughest. The 14 rack was crap. You touch a tree branch with it and the hinges are broken. Thus buying parts to replace and repair. Havent seen it yet but could the o rings be the weak link in that hinge that break instead of plastic so for a nickle worth of o rings in your pocket you can put a new one on and keep going??
Maybe. Everyone is so butt hurt over the rack, and yes I get it, it's junk. But I also rarely if ever use my front rack. I put some emergency stuff under it. That's it. The back rack is what gets the heavy stuff and is used 99 percent of the time. The back rack is what matters.
Great vid. I have a 2019 Polaris 450EPS and love it! But, I will have to say I like the newer, meow aggressive front. And, I like the easy battery tender location. However, I am NOT a big fan of the less room in the front storage. And, I don’t like the cheap looking straps on the cover either. Plus, NO rear storage and NO A-arm guards on front AND back??? What were they thinking? Besides the battery.location, I think the older design is better overall.
I have a lot of respect for polaris and one day may buy another one. I have currently got rid of all of my Polaris. I’ve owned multiple sportsman and rzr’s. . The one point that I found with all of them is they eat bushings and bearings. I’ve never seen a machine that goes through bearings and bushings as much as the Polaris do. If they can build a machine that I don’t have to replace them every year I may come back to the brand but until then I’ll drive can a.m.
Nice first update on the 570 Luke - looks like a nice ride, totally agree on the front rack and I prefer the rope over the cable for the winch. Can you give a better explanation on the true on demand AWD. Cheers and stay safe
I absolutely love the ride and bump absorption of my 2007 Sportsman 500 X2. How does the double A arm front suspension machines compare to the classic strut system?
wrc rally cars use MacPherson struts, it makes the vehicle a lighter weight than the double a arm suspension would make it. Also, due to its vertical nature, making turns could mean that your tires don’t touch the road as much. This will limit your control of the vehicle tremendously.with double a arm suspension your wheel alignments remain consistent as well as your steering. This will allow you to handle the vehicle better as you’re driving it better stability on the road because the tires are touching the road more. The only negative thing to say about the double wishbone suspension is that it is costly. This suspension system is a lot more complex than the MacPherson suspension, which means it costs the manufacturers more money to create it. There are so many components and parts of the double a arm system. If one part were to go bad or get worn out, then your whole suspension would stop functioning properly. As the owner, it will cost you more money in maintenance and repairs.if you are a big fan of affordability and less maintenance, then MacPherson should be your choice. But if you would rather have a suspension system that gives an excellent performance, then go with the double wishbone instead.
I went from an older sportsman 400 with the McPherson strut to a newer 570 with the dual a arm and the ride is not comparable. Granted my shocks on the 400 had seen better days but the dual a arm on the 570 just blow the struts out of the water. I can hit the same trails same bumps at twice the speed I could before, and they absorb the impact so much better. I’ve noticed all 4 tires seem way better planted in cornering and off camber sections.
Looks so cool. I got a dirt bike, does it have more maintenance compared to a db? Oil change, oil filter, air filter cleaning, and is changing a tire easy?
Great review. I like this new video without any edits, it's different, and the viewers get to know your personalities more. Although the edited videos are still great! Like the enhancements on their new models. Besides the quirks, there might be some workaround for that until they update again.
My parents just ordered a 2021 Sportsman 450 H.O. EPS for their first quad. Apparently my YFZ and my 1994 Polaris 300 2x4 weren't cutting it for working around the house. 😂
Excellent review to point out the rack issues . I have a 09 500 HO and has ben amazing but some of these changes I don’t care for... will continue shopping 👍
That's so funny that I have a Sportsman XP 1000 that had it's battery up high were the new 570 is but I made a steel box and put my battery down on the frame right behind the differential to lower the CG and it made a difference in steep rock crawling and side hills so I think when backwards on that one.
battery was better off down low where it was imo. its a sealed battery. water wasn't going to hurt it. could have kept cog lower and gained alot of storage space
@@123devinzz1 You are right it's not going to hurt the battery because it's sealed and it doesn't matter were it is when you go in water up to the racks or more.
The seat on the older 570 sloped towards the front as well .and yes that rib feeling under the seat cover not nice . Yamaha has the best power steering in the atv biz . While reversing in 4x4 on a polaris the operator must hold the overide button in to keep the machine in 4x4 . I have plowed snow with one and it's not a good set up . Ya that front hinge is terrible , maybe engineering threw that together late Friday afternoon . The machine looks good , but buyer beware of price point machinery shop time is 100 bucks an hour or better . Thanks for showing that machine and great partial review .
I'd really like to see more riding footage in these reviews. It's one thing to hear about how much better a suspension is or how powerful an engine is, it's another to see what kind of terrain you can put it through and see what kind of powerslides it can hold.
The power steering has been a gripe of mine with Polaris for a long time. I had a 1000 Sportsman and when you got it up to speed, it was almost dangerous. It seems like the Yamaha's have the best set up here. The front hinge? Wow, what a bad idea. That's all I can say.
I'm not so keen on the new body style it's decent but I think the older one looks a bit better. There are a few nice upgrades like the plugs in the headlight housing. The front storage has always been great and I can't believe other manufacturers haven't copied it. The plastic racks of the older machines were MUCH tougher than the new ones. They've gone down hill in that department. I really like how Polaris' bumpers go so far down on the body and protect more of the machine than bumpers of other brands that only cover the upper portion. Looking forward to a full review.
Wow, I can't believe that front storage lid. I just sold my 2010 850 Touring and the lid was solid. There was no play in it like this one. I can't believe Polaris cheaped out so much on this. For someone who uses their front storage all the time, this would be a problem for me.
Thank goodness, they moved the battery and the charging port is a great touch. How about the shifter? Ours has detents that we often miss. We love our 2019 570 and I look forward to the review and compare.
@@dirttraxtv I didn't mean getting to the rad. The rad relocate location would be on top of the battery, making it hard to get to the battery after the rad is relocated on top of the front rack.

I really love it and I think you guys are great at explaining everything👊👍
Thanks so much!
Idk what it is about this video in particular but the background scenery fits so well for this review. 👍🏻 just a detail I appreciate!
I just bought one today.....Zenith blue..
I'll get it in a few days and will update how I feel about it after a few good rides :)
V-twin?
Record it
I have zero complains with my 2020 sp 570 other than the battery the front lid doesn’t do that crap either it rides awesome and is good for hunting!
2:14 The radiator is exposed to mud spray which can cause overheating. No pull start which is important up here in Alaska.
Great honest review, keep them coming. Polaris needs to abandon the struts, no point in keeping them.
Great review love the videos keep up the great work!!
It takes 20 minutes to route a trickle charge cable from the battery zip tied to the handlebars. That's the way we've been doing it for 20 years.
Dirt trax/snow trax.....live spellcheck?
Thank you!
I do love the look of the new ones !!
Luke you should reach out to Polaris about this and get an explanantion...I mean wtf is that.
570's eat through spark plugs but if you keep oil in it and a clean air filter they'll last forever
Traded my 2016 570 in with 5000 miles/740 hours still running original spark plug. Never had a need to take it out once. Still purred like new. Got a zenith blue 2021 EPS.
Yesterday I was watching everything one of your videos about the sportsman and I want to get a 570 or a 450
I just bought a 450, it’s gonna be great around the farm.
Most machines with curved a-arms do not have guards. Even aftermarket does not offer them!
@@kolemoore4798 well...that sucks.
I don't understand why polaris doesn't give the X2 this kind of treatment. Imo that's the best/most versatile sport utility machine in their lineup
Thanks 👍
Heard that they modified the front rack for 2022 as well as added some type of rear storage.
Would like to see some info on those
Proud owner of a Grizzly 700! I left Polaris years ago for the same cheap quality half-step reasons. Polaris just doesn't build a very reliable ATV.
I can't decide between this, the Rancher or the Kodiak? Will use mainly as a hunting rig, trail riding
Good reputations for both, but big power difference.
i have this sportsman 570 i ordered it got it oct2. and have ben riding it at chadwick mo and its ben good so far
The front storage cover would annoy the hell out of me. I'm also curious why they got rid of the rear storage between the tail lights?!
I was told by the dealer I'm going through that its to allow more air movement for heat to escape.
@@patrickreilly7452 I just figured they'll make it an accessory now.
Great review always appreciate your honesty 👍
Thanks Allen! 👍
Classic polaris, so many things so right, and then you just wonder about others
At around the 3:30 mark the words you were looking for was 'Active Descent Control' (ADC). Good video.
yes!!!! been waiting for video on this bad boy!!!
i was leaning towards the 850 and 1000 sportsman but i really do like this black trail. maybe this is the one to get!..and save some money
Awesome! Thank you!
Thanks for being honest. I want the eps model of the 570
can you guys do a sportsman 850 review?
Thank you very much for this review!
What's the deal with the clutch exhaust hose being exposed in the rear on the 2021?
I have 2015 570 9k miles 0 problems regular matnince
Mmmmm. Can't wait to ride this in game.
Have an 800 i use to plow snow and play with, is this one a whole lot better?
Anyone else remember when the biggest Polaris you could get was a 700? Those were the good ol days.
Haha I remember when the 1996 Sportsman 500 came out and that was the king of their lineup!
@@pajamatime5750 Now a 450 is the lowest except for the kid quads.
@@tylerrusty1122 and at the time the 500 was still the one to get
@@tylerrusty1122 yeah pretty crazy
@@powersportsenthusiast1986 I have a 500 from that era and I love it.
I'd really like to see more riding footage in these reviews. It's one thing to hear about how much better a suspension is or how powerful an engine is, it's another to see what kind of terrain you can put it through and see what kind of powerslides it can hold.
This was just an overview. Not a full review. The full review will include more riding.
Great video like always thanks 👍 💯👌
Thank you!
Yea I like the color scheme sportsman are the best for ur money I love the 570 speed and power
do they have the same quality like old ones polaris? i think new ones is made in poland..
I like the battery maintainer thing
Ya i have the same one u guys have there and i love it
I thought the power steering had that problem for the last few years. My 2018 450 doesnt seem to change no matter the speed
I thought there are three drive modes for the power steering? Maybe check that to improve handling at high speed
The power steering has been a gripe of mine with Polaris for a long time. I had a 1000 Sportsman and when you got it up to speed, it was almost dangerous. It seems like the Yamaha's have the best set up here. The front hinge? Wow, what a bad idea. That's all I can say.
The things you didn't like on the 21 in 23 they fixed most of it. I have a 23 EPS and it after a week I haven't found anything I don't like yet...
Would the recommendation of going for the Trail package hold true for the 2021 Polaris Sportsman 850 Trail as well or just the 570?
what about the stock shock that comes in with this model, which one is it?
Wow, I can't believe that front storage lid. I just sold my 2010 850 Touring and the lid was solid. There was no play in it like this one. I can't believe Polaris cheaped out so much on this. For someone who uses their front storage all the time, this would be a problem for me.
Thank goodness, they moved the battery and the charging port is a great touch. How about the shifter? Ours has detents that we often miss. We love our 2019 570 and I look forward to the review and compare.
Does that new battery position make a rad relocate impossible..? 🤔
Rad is pretty easy to access. Just watched a comparo video Luke did of the 2021 vs the 2019. Should be available soon.
@@dirttraxtv I didn't mean getting to the rad. The rad relocate location would be on top of the battery, making it hard to get to the battery after the rad is relocated on top of the front rack.
Me and my dad been looking at these for a while
