The 1662 Book of Common Prayer is recognized as a foundational document by orthodox Anglican Christians across the world for what it means to be an Anglican Christian. At the beginning of the 1662 edition are three explanatory sections. Concerning Ceremonies, why some be abolished, and some retained, is the third (in order of appearance) of these opening essays.
